Lord of Thunder
Across the heavens he rides,
In his chariot of gold;
Rumbling over darkling clouds,
He's fearless, steadfast and bold.
Wielding his mighty hammer,
Poised above his holy head;
Dragged on in haste to battle,
Foes of Gods and Men are dead.
Eyes of fire, full of dread,
In to war with grim facet;
Lord of Thunder, God of War:
Give praise in the name of Thor!
(I'm not too sure about the last line of the last stanza, I'm thinking of changing it to 'Give him praise.....Thor! Summat like that...)

It rhymes very well, it doesn't sound forced at all. Like Xanthan said, It's an interesting subject. I love it when people's writing is inspired by mythology.
Hoder and Baldur? It's ok, but I think my favourite story is when Thor, and the two children that Thor takes with him, go to Jotunheim to Utgard-Loki's. He is beat, yes, but by trickery. Thus we get a pretty good idea of Thor's might. My favourite gods, I think, would be Thor and definately Heimdall.

Well would that include Roman/Greek, than? Because they're European, too.... Yeah, I like Norse, Slavic, and Japanese mythology.(Edit-And Tolkien's mythology, how could I forget!
I like em all except for middle eastern, indian etc. and mabe egyptian and chinese, and native american...
....so i guess i really only like european mythology lol
I'm a freak about Norse mythology too. My favorite story is that of Hoder and Balder. What about you?

Pretty sweet, but darkling clouds? just didn't sound right to me. but then again, I know nothing of poetry soooo....what do I know?
I've told you before how much I love Vikings, and I thought this poem was brilliant, because it embodies who Thor was--or who the Norse believed him to be. Don't change the last stanza; this is great.

I've been in a 'Nordic' mood for a a little bit now, and I've been stuck on writing a Norse-related poem for a few weeks. Well, all it took was to listen to a song (Lord of Thunder) and the poem came to me. (Rest assured I did not take anything from the lyrics, nor does the original song relate to Thor). Music gives me much inspiration. 
Don't change the last line...or at least, don't change it to that. I think it's fine how it is. This is simple, yet good. I enjoyed this poem because it was well-rounded, fullfilled all aspects perfectly and provided the meaning. Good job...and an interesting topic, I might add. Unorthodox or something like that....
