It is a preconceived notion that we unleash our creativity only when we are in a harmonious state of mind. But history begs to differ as in actuality it’s the polar opposite- It is only in times of turbulence that the bulb of ideas lights up. Contrary to our perception we feel inspired and passionate only when there is disquiet, adversity, vexation and obstacles to overcome.
An apt example is JK Rowling who was a single mother living in a small flat with very little money and no job before she became the author of the seven-book Harry Potter series which has sold a total of over 450 million copies worldwide. She duly notes that rock bottom became the solid foundation on which she rebuilt her life and that consequently proves that the best ideas surface when facing an adversity. Similarly, Walt Disney was fired and went bankrupt before his first successful film. What is more astounding is the fact that he was told that “he lacked imagination and good ideas.” Looking back on his failures, Disney once said, "All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me. You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you." Even writer Chetan Bhagat wrote that at first, the columns he wrote in newspapers carried less heat. But when the Commonwealth Games happened he finally found his muse- Corruption. He wrote an essay on it in a state of anger and the passion showed when the essay went viral online.
So does all this mean that in order to get some inspiration you get yourselves in trouble? No! But do remember that instead of feeling dejected and complaining during turbulent times, there is a ray of hope that you will come up with life-altering ideas. Guess turbulence isn’t so bad after all!

This was a really nice essay! It was a little short, but it was quite enjoyable.
"An apt example is JK Rowling who was a single mother living in a small flat with very little money and no job before she became the author of the seven-book Harry Potter series which has sold a total of over 450 million copies worldwide." RUN-ON. Try saying, "An apt example is JK Rowling. She was a single mother living in a small flat with no money and no job. Then, she became the author of the seven-book Harry Potter series which has sold a total of over 450 million copies worldwide."
"But history begs to differ as in actuality it’s the polar opposite- It is only in times of turbulence that the bulb of ideas lights up." Instead of using a dash, try a semi-colon. "But history begs to differ as in actuality it’s the polar opposite; It is only in times of turbulence that the bulb of ideas lights up."
"Contrary to our perception we feel inspired and passionate only when there is disquiet, adversity, vexation and obstacles to overcome." Instead, it should be, "Contrary to our perception, we feel inspired and passionate only when there is disquiet, adversity, vexation and obstacles to overcome."
"But when the Commonwealth Games happened he finally found his muse- Corruption." Try using a period instead of a dash. "But when the Commonwealth Games happened he finally found his muse. Corruption." It adds a better flow.
Aside from that, I liked you voice and your ideas. Good job!
Alex out!
Timmy here for a quick review!
First off, welcome to YWS! This is a great piece to start off with! I always review as I read, so I will start off with nitpicks

Ok, so this was a very interesting essay! I thought it was really neat how you pulled out quotes from two of the most prominent writers and filmmakers of all time... The Harry Potter series and Disney are some of the most well known names ever... So you are right! Being in turbulent times does make your imagination take flight!
I thought your beginning paragraph was very well done. Short, but to the point. And it carried a nice attention-getter inside it... You throw out the whole idea inside that first paragraph, the whole summary of the essay, and then expand it throughout the body paragraph...
I admit that I am not the best essay person, but this seemed well done... It might have been a bit longer, but on the other hand, you conveyed your message to us well, so how long does it need to be? If your message has been delivered, why continue? It might be the perfect length after all, then.
I need some turbulence... I am not having many life changing ideas right now! Great essay... Welcome to YWS and keep writing!

Thanks a ton for the review. I did implement two of your suggestions. I did think of making the essay a little longer but then as you said the message had been delivered so I did not want to end up adding unnecessary details.
