People... They love to ask what depression feels like, don't they? But you can't explain it. If you have it, you know what it feels like. If you don't... you'll never know.
Truthfully, depression is like drowning. But you can see everyone else breathing. And then one person sees you. They grab you, and you feel safe in their arms. But then they see a shark. They leave you... Broken... Alone...
This happens, over and over and over. And you get sick of it. So you purposefully swim under, down so no one can find you. And you finally find peace, in your seclusion under the water. And as your last breath leaves your lungs... You smile.

This is true. If you have never felt depression, you will never know what it is truly like to be depressed.
The 2nd paragraph...boy!...I had to look away with tears in my eyes about how true and accurate this is! You feel left in...in...in despair!
The 3rd paragraph, I truly love. I love the last sentence the most, though.
Great job!!
You got to the point!
I am fighting mental and emotional depression. This is truly what it feels like, but, in my shoes and in my rugged terrible life, depression is like at least 3 times worse...
I live in a sad secluded world called my mind. I live in seclusion from the real world. Nobody understands until you actually have lived through it enough to know what real depression is.
You got to the facts. Could not have said it better if I tried. Thanks. You made my day. Or, rather, my rest of the night!

I am so glad to help you people! I have had serious depression for four years... it's been difficult... But we can persevere. We just have to find the one person who will fight the shark with us.
Hey,
Thank you so much for this. I've been struggling with depression for years, and had to be put in the psych ward for ten days in the summer. The one thing that has always frustrated me is not being able to explain exactly what depression is and why its not just a medical diagnoses for me. This is an amazing explanation however. I really connected with this and I think I found my inspiration for my next poem. But again.. thank you for this. It means more to me to be able to read then I will ever be able to put into words.
Sincerely,
Collideascope
Wow.. I'm so glad I could help you. When I wrote this, I was just putting my feelings of depression into words... To know that it actually helped someone else.... I'm glad it did. Thank you. Maybe now I can help more people.
I know you can help more people, a lot of people will see this to and if they comment or not it will help someone.
