This is a very long first chapter, so I think it would be best if everyone saved their comments until the end of the chapter. Right now we're picking up right after the whole 'duty calls' comment.
He nodded as he picked up the newspaper.
I went and sat on Logan’s lap.
“So, how was the new teacher? Is he cool or what?” Logan wrapped his arm around me.
“In a chair Ms. Dawson,” we looked over; Mr. Faris was looking our way as he sat at his desk.
“Guess not,” Logan sighed as I sat next to him.
“Relax, he’s nervous, we’re his first class, ever,” I shrugged. “Trust me, if we’re unruly enough he’ll get the picture of who’s boss.”
“He better, I only need a D to pass this class,” Logan smirked as the bell rang.
I rolled my eyes; Logan knew he needed a C to play rugby. He was only trying to look good in front of Jane and Ben. I saw right through his little charade.
“Where to next?” I pulled out my schedule. I had lunch next.
“Lunch,” Jane read from her schedule.
“Me too,” I nodded as we all headed out to the hall.
“Me three,” Logan said as he hiked me up on his back. I laughed as he carried me on his back as we all headed to the lunchroom.
The senior lounge was empty. The few kids that were in the room were in line getting their lunch. Seniors had the luxury of eating in style. There were actual venders to feed us, no more cafeteria mystery meat.
I wasn’t really hungry so I sat down at an empty table with Jane while the boys got in line.
“You up for a mani after school? My cuticles suck,” Jane said as she eyed her nail beds.
I shrugged, “Sure, why not? Maybe you can help me think of cheers.”
“Ah yes, tomorrow’s impending tryouts, need we show up?” Jane smiled.
“Don’t get cocky, we better go, my cheers suck,” I frowned.
“They do not, without you we wouldn’t have gotten to go to a cheer competition last year,” Jane reminded me. “We’re going to kick ass this year because of you Bris.”
I smiled as I stood up from the table.
“This is what I’ve got so far,” I smiled as I prepared to do my cheer. “Who sucks? (Clap, clap) Who sucks? (Clap, clap) You do. (Clap, clap) Oh yeah, you do. (Clap, clap) Who rocks? (Clap, clap) Who rocks? (Clap, clap) We do, oh yeah we do. (Clap, clap) We rock. (Clap, clap) We rock. (Clap, clap) All night long.” For the last three words I shook my hips to the beat of the cheer.
“On second thought, perhaps we should go tomorrow,” Jane smiled.
“It was either that or, ‘come on might jackals, kick their ackals,’” I gave a fake cheer.
“Ackals?” Jane giggled.
“I know, it sucks, right?” I laughed.
“Actually, the movement’s good, but the cheer sucks,” Logan said as he came and sat down. “But you looked good doing it all.”
I kissed his cheek, “Thanks for the honesty babe.”
Logan smiled as he pulled me down to him. He was about to kiss me.
“Fraternizing is against the rules,” Mr. Faris was at our table out of nowhere.
“Sorry Mr. Faris, but we were just practicing the Heimlich maneuver for health class,” Logan cleverly lied.
“Uh-huh, the last time I checked, that maneuver required someone to be on the ground, or behind someone,” Mr. Faris crossed his arms showing doubt.
“Oh we can get on the ground, or I can get behind her, but it would be a completely different maneuver then,” Logan smiled.
I rolled my eyes and elbowed him, “Sorry Mr. Faris, it won’t happen again.”
“Just make sure it doesn’t,” Mr. Faris warned before he walked away.
“Logan!” I groaned as I punched his arm.
“Sorry Bris, it was just a joke,” Logan smiled. “I thought you said that guy was cool, he was acting like a nazi.”
“Maybe because you were being inappropriate,” I snapped.
“Jane, would you give us a minute?” Logan asked as he looked over to Jane.
“I’ll see you later Bris,” Jane pulled out her BlackBerry and walked away.
“Enough about Mr. Cockblocker, what about you and me and your promise?” Logan said on a serious note.
I thought to myself, was I in a rush to lose my virginity? Well, it didn’t really matter to me. I mean, I wasn’t that sex obsessed as most of the kids at my school. Logan had waited patiently for three years; maybe it was time to pay him off. It wasn’t like it was a big deal, we were in love, and this was natural.
“Tomorrow, I promise, as soon as I get my head cheerleading position I’ll be in a good mood,” I swore. “Then you’ll get what you’ve been crying for these last three years.”
“Bris that’s not the only reason I’m dating you,” Logan reassured. “I mean, you’re good arm candy to have around as well.”
I rolled my eyes and shoved him.
“I better go before you ruin your chances,” I smiled.
“You know I love you Bris,” Logan grinned.
I shook my head and went up to the library.
Jane and I worked there together since our sophomore year. The librarian was a bit tough to those who weren’t use to her. Jane and I were loyal and had a little power in the library. It was basically a study hall period for us. The least we did was shelve books and check books out to people.
By the time Jane came into the library I was laminating my new library badge.
“Logan’s so barbaric,” Jane smiled as she stepped behind the counter.
“You’re telling me, at least you’re not the one who has to have sex with him tomorrow night,” I groaned as I sat down.
“Ooh, you’re finally going to join the rest of the sex having youth in the world of infamy,” Jane said as she made herself a new badge.
“I guess, you’d think Logan would be trying to earn it,” I said.
“Babe, it’s been forever, believe me, he’s earned it. Hell, I’ve earned it,” Jane teased.
I smiled as I heard the library door open. We weren’t officially open until the second week of school, Jane and I had to shoo all of the kids away until then.
“Hey, we’re…” I stopped, Mr. Faris walked into the library.
“Hey Ms. Dawson,” he smiled. “Ms. Simms.”
“Sir,” Jane said dryly as she gave a salute.
Mr. Faris went and sat down at one of the reading tables.
“Gees, two period was enough already,” Jane said as she rolled her eyes.
“Don’t you think he’s cute?” I smiled.
“Uh no, where’s the piercings, tattoos? The danger? Excitement?” Jane asked. She had a thing for guys who looked rough around the edges. The last guy she dated talked her into getting a tattoo on her hip; fortunately it was just a heart and crossbones.
“Maybe you should date someone clean and wholesome,” I suggested.
“Okay, maybe clean and wholesome, but I’m not jumping head first into pedophilia. Don’t you remember last year?” Jane grabbed some books to shelve.
Jane and I didn’t agree on everything, we sometimes had silly debates such as the incident from last year. As library assistants we get our photos into the yearbook. Last year as we were all taking our group photo the photographer, the yearbook teacher Mr. Jones, needed someone to sit on the floor for the shot, so he made a joke like ‘who wants to sit on the floor and be sexy?’ he was just trying to ease the tension in the air. He was practically a walking corpse, there was no reason to freak out, Jane did however. She thought he was a perve ever since. Which was weird because she was comfortable around the male art teacher who was a known perve to all of his female students. Once in the hall he walked up beside me and caressed my arm, as I looked over he was smiling in a creepy way, he mumbled he was sorry, he obviously thought I was someone else. But it was the way he rubbed my arm; it was slow and methodical. A small innocent vulgar comment versus armrape was nothing in my opinion.

Hi, Wheadee, coco here!
I liked this, it was your typical American teenage story with some really great narration on the part of your character Bris, she sort of came to life in my eyes which is always a good thing so well done!
I don't really have any nit-picks because I couldn't spot any, so good luck with writing the rest, I'm looking forward to reading more
