The Puzzle

My piece is of peculiar shape
Not with a squeeze nor jimmy nor nuzzle
Will my obtuse, dismal excuse of a piece
Slot into any puzzle.

Its edges are round when others are flat,
And regardless of how much might
I use to force it into place
It never quite feels right.

Sometimes the pieces around mine
Will bend and twist or even split
To try and make it feel at home
But we all know my piece doesn't fit.

The other pieces are too kind to say:
"We want you gone, because you're wrong"
No matter what puzzle I stumble across
My piece will never truly belong .

I feel like every piece is connected
Bar mine that's left on its own
They fall into place, effortlessly embrace
As me and my piece sit alone.

I think that is one of my favorite poems I have ever read! I love the puzzle piece metaphor! It perfectly illustrates the feeling of being different or not fitting in! The wording is beautiful, the rhythm is fantastic! I cant think of anything you should do different! I cant wait to read more of your work! Keep up the amazing writing!

.WELL HERE IS MY REVIEW,DON'T CALL ME ARROGANT.I enjoyed this work, but only a little.its so amazing how a poet minds work and i can 'undoubtfully' say you are one(poet) of a kind.Only a few error give=s this work less beauty than it is supposed to have, thus:(just what a believe, hope no hard feelings?),How nuzzle fits in the first stanza i can't tell, maybe your rhyming was forced there, quite a bad omen.the enjambment you employed in line 6 and 7 doesn't quite fit, another evidence for a forced rhyme.'we want you gone...',i can't understand that phrase is it archaic English.well it doesn't fit in the work its crazy! But adds flavor thou.In the next line you abandon the kind pieces and jumped to another topic, which i feel should not be so only if you had indirectly link the both topics. To say the truth mi feel like this work is a jamboree,of ideas, not really a boastful work. All the stanzas seems apart from each other some how.I really love the ideas, but it does not form a work of poetry. The best stanza so far is the last,no rhyming words, just rhythm.I am guess am a fan though this work wasn't superb,it has flow in an absurd but brilliant manner.A perfect combination of powerful emotions!,now that's poetry.KUDOS!!!!!!

puzzling :D
brilliantly put together. i can't say i didn't enjoy this. it was a rush of emotions, sad, real. to use abstract to describe reality, it's not easily obtainable. i like that you said it as it is, i felt for that puzzle piece :'(
i really wish though that others would understand this piece the same way, no errors, i was captured from the start!
beautiful, Keep writing!

Whats up Angus. My name is Ossum and let me be the first to tell you that you are a perfect piece of any puzzle exactly the way you are. This piece says a lot about how hard we always try to make ourselves seem like everyone else. When in actuality we are who we are and people love that about others.

And I cant wait to read more of your works, because I know that you have a talent. And it is a good talent. Especially with this work, turning something as simple as a puzzle piece into a being in and of itself. It seems easy, but it is actually quiet remarkable the way you expressed it here and that is what makes it a beautiful work.

I will say this though, and I know I said it before. But you should add another verse, where you will discover that your piece wont fit into any one puzzle because someone like you is a piece that will bring all the different puzzles to yourself. Its why you got round edges instead of flat ones, and have obtuse angles. Cause every puzzle is different, and you're the one who can unite them all.

Hope this made your day as much as it made my morning, and have a super fantastically awesome rest of your day!

This is brilliant! You capture a really relatable feeling in a very imaginative and visual fashion, creating a vivid image and conveying emotion at the same time, yet also managing to keep a good rhyme and rhythm scheme throughout. Your use of punctuation is limited in places; I don't personally think that's a bad thing though, it just gives a different kind of feel to the poem. The ending stanza conveys everything beautifully-that lonely 'left out' feeling that many people (myself included) experience at least once in their lives-the idea of describing the feeling through the imagery of puzzle pieces works so perfectly with the subject. My only criticism would be the punctuation in the last stanza; the word 'it's' in "Bar mine that's left on it's own" should be replaced with 'its', and I personally thought that maybe you could leave out some of the commas and full stops at the end of the lines in the last stanza to fit in with the rest of the poem's punctuation, or rather lack of it-however, this is purely your own decision, as lots of reviewers say my poems don't have enough punctuation at times, it's probably more of a matter of personal taste than being 'right' or 'wrong' in any way.
Furthermore this is a brilliant poem, well done and keep writing!! :D
