Standing in silence, the girl ran her fingers across the engraved lettering on the book she was holding. As she looked down at the letters she felt tears begin to fall. Ever since she could remember, she had been told to read this book every day. And when she was younger she did. But now things weren’t so simple, not anymore. No longer could she fix her problems simply by going to church and putting on a smile. Running her fingers across them again, she read the words aloud to herself. “Holy Bible,” She muttered. “What good has it ever done me?” In a flash of anger she flung the book across the room, and let her knees give way. On the floor, the girl looked up to the heavens. “Why me?!” She yelled at God. She couldn’t understand what she had done to deserve so much pain. She stayed there, letting her tears take over, letting them wash away her anger and frustration. Then, slowly she rose from her spot from the floor and went to retrieve her Bible. When she reached it, she realized it was open. When she had thrown it across the room, it landed open to a page she had once highlighted.
Psalm 22:1 “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
She picked up the Bible with trembling hands and realized that, that’s exactly what she felt. Forsaken, alone, abandoned, and left to face all her earthly troubles without the help of God. Or, so she thought. Slowly she turned the pages to a familiar passage.
Isaiah 26:4 “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God, is an everlasting rock.”
Slowly she breathed in a new sense of peace… it was hard to remember that. That she could trust in her Lord. With so many things going on around her, that were out of her control… too often the girl became overwhelmed. Closing the Bible she whispered a small prayer for, forgiveness and the strength to remember that she was a child of God, and as so she was safe.
All of us, at one time or another has found ourselves angry with God. We do not understand the things the he does, or how he chooses to do them. This short story was my way of realizing that. There is such a sweet comfort in knowing that even though at times we may feel like God doesn’t care, that we are completely alone… we never really are. He is always, always there.
I don’t know about you... but I need reminding of that every now and then.
God Bless.

Hey.
I might actually read my Bible now that you reminded me with this.
This was really good. Everyone as felt this way and need reminding. I see no mistakes so I will just say "Good job!"

Hi! I loved this story. Very emotive. No obvious mistakes, but in parts I felt that the sentences could have been constructed a little better. Other than that this was an excelent piece. Well done!
