Grotesque Galore

Hah. This was an unexpected one, even for me. I was just cleaning some old files off of my old laptop when I stumbled upon this short, but old story I wrote awhile ago. I'd completely and utterly forgotten about its very existence, not even recognizing the title when I saw it in the documents folder. Reading it over gave me a small laugh. Rated 18+ (like all of my stories) for intense gore/cursing/sexual connotation, what have you.

Grotesque Galore

“I could end your life right now,” said the man with the gaunt eyebrows, then smirked. His tongue crept out from the cavernous mouth that uttered these words then curled across his fat upper lip, as though he were about to consume a very tasty meal. “And it would not matter one bit, your death has absolutely no significance in the world whatsoever. One second you are here, and poof, the next second your soul or brain or whatever the fuck controls your conscience is eradicated for all eternity. Isn't that idea about you so absolutely satisfying? At least it's incredibly satisfying to me” He could not keep in a chuckle. “Though I'll bet it has the opposite effect on you. To me the realization of the thought is like a running man who has trained all summer and finally managed the run the marathon!”

The man with the gaunt eyebrows couldn't hold in his laughter, and his smirk managed to turn into a full blown hysterical laughing fest. Up and down and up and down his disgusting looking mouth went, exposing all the hideous fake teeth. It was debatable whether or not he had any real teeth left, since his wisdom teeth were still coming in, though barely visible. He walked around to the left side of his victim. Overhead, the bright light made the gaunt man insignificantly blind. He certainly knew from experience how to put on a show and so he continued talking.

“You understand what I mean, don't you? It just makes my funny bone have a fucking field day! So god fucking humerus that you, with your nihilistic and extraordinarily closed mind are comprehending in your last moments that your life has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. I just find it so fucking funny that you're FINALLY FUCKING realizing it! Hell, I can see it in your eyes that the realization is so heavy and raw, that even if you were able to speak right now then it would be pointless. But I do want to see some recognition on your face. This is quite the new revelation you must be facing, that you are below nothing. If you will allow me just a bit more pleasure...”

The man with the gaunt eyebrows twitched. He had never been much of a public speaker most of his life, yet these words had flown over him. He was being possessed, being possessed by the moment. His enthusiasm, his air of certainty and realism would just have to garner some attention.

No, no – he has to stay in the moment, lest everything he has done so far be compromised.

The man with the gaunt eyebrows had just a hint of a goatee on his chin, and with his right hand he went up and stroked it just a twinge, as if thinking for a second on what to do. Real realistic. Then he took his hand away and directed his gaze towards his victim. With what looked like a hybrid between a swift and slow motion, the man with the gaunt eyebrows brought his face right up to his victims as if they were a couple madly love about to kiss. He might not have noticed it during the heat of the moment, but for a few seconds he was breathing on his victims face with stuffy, fast breaths.

“Show me just an ounce, just the tiniest bit of pleasure before you go off to the land of nothingness. Imagine it as your purpose, that this was the reason you were born, so show me, show me with your eyes precisely what the tears of a man moments away from death taste like....The longer you take, the more painful I'll make your final moments....”

He held out his tongue, a swabby pink ball that at the very moment resembled a serpent. And perhaps it was a serpent. Perhaps it was the same serpent that all those billions of years ago descended upon Adam and Eve and made them partake in the forbidden fruit.

But this time the serpent was hungry for something more, as though his tastes had matured with the ages. “I want to drink all the hopelessness from your body, I want to suck it all dry until you have no tears left to give me.”

Hoping to end on that note the man with the gaunt eyebrows brought out his serpent and positioned it towards his victim, getting closer...closer...the tounge...the wetness.....about to touch...

At once the lights in the room went off, and then on, and the man let breathed in and out, let out a sigh of relief, and let his gaunt eyebrows drop a little from the decreased stress.

He knew he was near the ending time of his audition. Thank god too, he was beginning to sound insane to even himself.

“Sorry victim,” he said, low enough that nobody but the tied up mannequin next to him could have heard. “Got a bit intense there. I hope they'll hire me as a serial killer.”

He shifted his gaze towards the door where the producers, his audience for this whole charade, were about to enter from.

Within moments three people entered the room, two men and a woman. All were dressed formally in business attire and all had on very pale faces.

They did not look very happy with his performance.

Maybe I should become a real serial killer, the gaunt man mused. At least I can act the part. Not that I'll be getting it by the looks of these folks.

Hey Act!

I liked this piece. Really. It was written well and even though I'm, not a fan for such 'twist-y' endings, I did like this one. Good job with the intensity of the speech.
So, my nitpick is with your use of gaunt. I'm all okay with repeated usage of 'gaunt eyebrows,' but I would rather not read the 'gaunt man.' It doesn't give a good effect to the story.

He held out his tongue, a swabby pink ball that at the very moment resembled a serpent.
The image is weird, with a ball and a serpent. I think it would be better without the 'ball' bit.
When you pause to describe him, I think you could do it better. Show us a little more about him.

Good read. Thanks.

Haha! This was a very funny entry to me, a bit like a Saki piece. You had me till the very end, and I enjoyed every minute of it! Hehehe, I'm still giggling! It reminded me a lot about Anthony Zuikers' LEVEL 26, so that was fun, and the only problem I spotted with it was how it seemed to dwell on things a lot, but perhaps that's what made it all the more real. :)

if ya mention chickens, i have to show up, that is the law.
