Bleeding Rose

PreviousNext

Bleeding Rose It was late. Mrs. Kurt, the old lady I took care of on Fridays kept me over late. I looked at the clock Nine-Thirty; I'm normally home by Seven-Fifty.

I walk silently. It was a quiet night. Nobody else was out.

My curly red hair was damp from the low mist that just settled in. It was a long walk from her house to mine. I turned around the corner and headed left, dead leafs crunched beneath my feet.

It was hot out even though it wasn't even spring yet. I decided to go through the alley which was extremely dumb. The alley wasn't safe at night, but it went right threw to my neighborhood.

I was half down it when I heard footsteps behind me. My heart raced. I walked faster, but they were still on my tail. That's when I was shoved against the wall. A man dressed all in black held me against the wall. I struggled to get free but he was too strong.

“Where are you going princess?” he asked wickedly

“Oh, you caught dinner,” said a blond haired girl behind him.

“Dinner?” the words echoed in my head.

“Nice and sweet too,” she said sniffing me.

Sweet, what was she talking about?

“Let me go” I screamed

He smiled and let out an eerie howl. Then with no warning he bit me. I screamed in pain and fell to the ground, my back against the pavement. My vision went blurry and my hand aced with pain. I couldn't get up; it felt as if my whole body was numb.

There was a commotion in the back ground, but I couldn't make out what was going on. I could hear running and yelling then everything went silent. A boy wearing a black long sleeve shirt and brown pants stood in front of me.

He had black hair and was frowning, even thou my vision was blurry I could still see just a little. He held out his hand I hesitated I didn't know if I could trust him. Finally I grabbed his hand and he helped me up. That’s when I realized the boy was James, the boy whom I would sometimes catch staring at me in math.

“Did they bite you?” he asked I pointed to my hand wondering why they would bite me, he gently grabbed it. “I'll make it stop hurting. You have venom in your hand.”

“Venom” I said to myself

He looked concerned so I let him help me. He bit into my hand, but it didn't hurt.

That's when I knew those people back in the ally were vampires and so was James, but I wasn’t afraid of him. My vision cleared up and I guess I had blacked out, because when I opened my eyes I was in bed.

I looked at my hand; it was wrapped in a bandage stained with blood. I hurried out of bed nearly falling over scattered books. I slowly crept down stairs, with every step the stairs squeaked as if they were in pain. Finally reaching the bottom, I hurried off to the living room were my mom was sitting in the recliner she didn’t seem to notice me.

“Mom,” I said, my voice sounding winy, no reply then she looked up.

“Why did you get here so late?” she asked. “It's three a clock in the morning”

The color drained from my face and my cheeks turned red.

“I-I don't know” I said nervously I knew I couldn’t tell her the truth, well not all of it of course.

“Why are you bleeding?” she asked, examining my hand.

I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out.

“Start talking Missy,” she demanded.

“I fell on some glass,” I lied.

“How did you do that?” she asked sternly.

“I was mugged by v-” I stopped myself before I made a big mistake.

My mother’s expression turned soft and she ran to comfort me.

“Oh, honey you must have been so scared,” she said warmly, hot tears escaped my eyes. “You need to rest,” she said, patting me on the head and hurrying me up the stairs to my room. I collapsed on my bed.

The next morning I felt dizzy and tired, I didn’t get my full rest in. I opened the doors to the balcony hot air and sunlight flooded the room.

“That’s odd,” I said to myself “spring is still a week away why is it so hot?”

I stood there for moment thinking about it then let the thoughts go by. I walked onto the balcony and took a deep breath a soft breezed blew through my hair. Down below me couples happily walked side by side and children played and ran around. My two best friends Macy and Harley were walking my way.

“Hey,” I yelled at them.

They both looked up at me and smiled they had something on their mind, that was always bad news.

They ran to get to the door both nearly trampling themselves.

I could hear them running up the steps, both of them came barging threw the door.

“Omg you will never guess what happened,” said Macy hugging me.

“Let me tell her, let me tell her,” wined Harley who was pushing Macy out of the way.

I rolled my eyes and waited to hear the nonsense news that Harley was about to fill me in on.

“You will never believe it but Andrew Sterling asked me to the dance,” she bragged.

My eyes lit up I couldn’t believe Andrew would really ask her to the dance.

Harley “that’s.... amazing,” I said trying to hide my jealousy and gave her a bear hug.

“And that’s not all,” said Harley blissfully.

“Oh boy,” I said glumly

“I finished our dresses,” she said happily, I was actually excited about that.

We all did a group hug. The dance was only three days away and I was kind of bummed about the fact that I didn’t have a date.

“Cheer up Misty,” said Macy in a real sweet voice she was a really good friend.

After they left I realized none of them asked about my hand, I mean it was really easy to notice. A few hours went by and I had nothing to do, there was a sudden soft knock on the door.

“Sweetie there’s a boy here who says he knows you,” said my mother.

I opened the door my mother gave me a suspicious look I hurried down stairs and opened the door to see James. Wearing big black sunglasses, He smiled at me.

“How’s your hand?” he asked, gently grabbing it.

“Fine,” I said. We stood there in silence for what seemed like forever.

“Are you up for a walk?” he asked, fiddling his thumbs nervously.

“Sure,” I said he smiled and we both walked out the door.

I stared at him wondering why he wasn’t burning up; I mean he's a vampire shouldn't he be a pile of ashes by now. I couldn’t help but ask him.

“Why aren't you burning up?” I asked, he looked at me funny.

“Sunglasses,” he said.

“Did you just say sunglasses?” I asked

“Yep,” he said, kicking a rock I giggled because it didn’t make any sense

“Okay,” I said, still giggling.

He looked at me funny and then smiled. We were about to turn when someone behind us yelled.

“Hey,” yelled the voice I turned around to see Harley and Macy.

“What are you guys doing here?” I asked

“Trying to catch up to you,” panted Harley I rolled my eyes, and then Macy suddenly gasped and whispered in my ear.

“You’re with James,” she asked.

I nodded then she smiled ear to ear I knew what she was thinking.

She whispered something in Harley's ear whose face was now bright red; I tried to think of what she was telling her but there constant giggling made it imposable.

Harley and Macy both turned to face James.

“Can we steal Misty for a little bit?” they asked, James shrugged.

“Sure catch you later Misty,” he said, turning the other way

I turned to face Harley who was making kissy faces at me.

“Cut it out,” I said aggravated

“But you didn’t tell us you and James were dating,” gushed Macy, I nearly jumped out of my skin.

“Wow me and James aren’t dating,” I said, highly offended.

“But the why he looks at you he's totally into you,” giggled Harley

“Do you really think so?” I asked blushing

“Oh I know so,” said Harley still giggling Macy stood beside me still making them funny faces at me. I wanted to slap her. My phone suddenly started to ring it was my mom calling.

“I got to go guys see you later,” I said speed walking down the street.

By the time I got home I was sweating like a pig, I still didn't get why it was so hot. My mother stood by the door waiting on me she had that evil look in her eyes, she whispered in my ear but I didn’t get what she said.

By the time I got to my room my feet where hurting as I opened the bed room door a dim light filled the room. I turned on my radio and royals started playing.

“Will you turn that down?” my brother banged on the door yelling at me

“Go away” I yelled back at him “and no I won’t” he was mad now

“Then I’ll just get mom” he threatened the color drained from my face I quickly darted to the radio

“Thank you” he said and walked off,

I was mad it felt like my insides were going to burst, I kicked one of the books that were by my foot which was a stupid thing to do.

Pain shot threw my foot like someone had just stabbed it.

I garbed my foot and hoped around my room like a lunatic, nearly falling onto a pile of books that I was still yet to pick up.

I must have made a lot of noise because my mother came running to my aid with a worried expression.

“Honey is you okay?”

I just say, “I am fine”

She looked at me doubtfully

“OK” she says and walks away.

Chapter 2 the Dance

The dance was now only two days away and I still didn't have a date.

It was around eight twenty now I had just woke up dreading the day, I never liked Sunday.

The smell of pancakes drifted in to the room as I opened the door, heading down stairs, I saw that the door was wide open I closed it and went into the dining room.

“Good morning” my mother stood by the sink smiling at me

“Morning” I said and sat down

I looked down at my plate it was filled with pancakes, eggs, bacon and a biscuit just the way I like them.

“Oh by the way a boy named James called” said my mother cleaning off a dish

“He said that when you get the chance would you please meet him at the park?” she looked at me with that devilish look in her eyes.

I just smiled and said, “That’s nice”

“Who is he?” her voice became mean and stern

my face turned red and I sat there nervously and looked at her dumbfounded.

“No one” I knew she knew I was hiding something.

“Okay whatever” she said.

“Must have been a wrong number” I said shrugging.

After breakfast I hurried up the stairs wondering how James got my home phone number.

I got dressed and headed out the door it was a warm morning many people were out most of them looked ether sad or happy.

The park was only a block away I pasted the old candy shop turned into the ally and crossed the old soccer field.

James was already there waiting on me I didn't have the slightest idea why he would want to see me.

He was dressed in black pants and wore a gray shirt his hair was combed to the side and of course he was wearing sunglasses.

“Here you are” his voice calm “I was beginning to thank you weren’t coming” he said looking down at the ground.

“I really have an important question to ask you” he looked nervous

“Would you maybe possibly want to get to the dance with me you know as friends?” I blushed I felt like I was going to faint.

I stood there nervously wondering how to respond finely I did

“Sure” I couldn't help but smile as I said it.

He smiled and sighed with relief we stood there looking at each other for what seemed like forever.

“You know we never did finish that walk yesterday” he said

I looked up at him and we started walking forward we walked in silence for a moment.

I looked down at my injured hand it had healed up a little I had taken off the bandage.

“If you don't mind me asking but when did you become a vampire?” I asked, at first he didn't answer then he spoke but he had a sad expression

“Nineteen sixty three” he said sadly

“I was sixteen I was walking home, it was late and I was just leaving a friend’s house I passed through a soccer field and walked down through the ally half way down I heard footsteps but like a fool I just kept walking and then” he stopped and let out what sounded like a whimper I could tell it upset him to think about it.

“ and then I was slammed against the ally wall It all happened so fast all I couldn't think of was what was going to happen to me I was scared I jerked my head away from their hand but they grabbed my hair and turned my head and then they bit me” a tear ran down his face.

“I never wanted to be like this” he said angered.

“And my family I had to do what I had to do I told them what happened at first they didn't believe me and when I showed them they left me there alone and scared”

I looked at I felt like crying myself.

“Why would they just leave you there?” I asked trying not to sound winy

He shrugged.

“Guess they were just scared and shocked that I was now and forever a vampire”

“Then who are you staying with now?” I asked.

“Some other vampires who had found me and took me in”

We walked on in silence passing buildings and happy couples who had goofy grins on their faces.

After that story I felt bad for James.

I woke up the next day feeling sick my hand was completely healed up and that story about James still echoed in my head.

I looked at the clock it six, I could hear the alarm clock in my brothers room.

Today was the dance and I was still to tell Harley and Macy that James had asked me to the dance.

I walked across the floor to the dresser my hair was a mess and I has bags under my eyes I am not much of a morning type.

I stood there looking at my reflection and for some reason that song photograph popped into my head. As I got dressed I kept imagining what it would be like to be a vampire.

After struggling with my hair I headed down stair to meet my brother at the door. He was standing there mouthing the words to wrecking ball with the volume on full blast.

Walking towards the bus stop Marshall pulled the headphones out of his ears and looked at me with a smile plastered across his face.

“So who is the boy you were with?” he asked my face turned bright red.

“Why does it matter?” he looked at me then shrugged.

“Well mom sure is concerned” I looked at him and rolled my eyes

“Mom is always concerned when it comes to boys” I said shuffling my feet then punched him in his arm playfully.

We finely reached the bus stop the bus was just now pulling in we raced to get to the bus. I shoved him out of the way and climbed in Harley and Macy was already in the bus I was anxious to tell them the good news.

I scooted in the seat with a big smile on my face.

“Guess what James asked me to the dance” I bragged they both looked at me with a shocked expression.

“So are you and him dating now?” asked Harley giggling Macy smacked her on the arm.

“No we are going as friends” I said trying not to sound disappointed.

The bus hit a bump and my phone went flying into the air landing on the seat next to us. I looked up just realizing James was sitting there I turned red with embarrassment because I am pretty sure he heard everything I said.

“Missing something” he asked he handed me my phone.

I looked at Harley she made kissy faces at me I blushed uncontrollably I hated it when she did that.

I said thanks and sat up in my seat.

That day after school I ran straight home I was excited about the dance but I was also nervous. I ran upstairs to put on my dress a few hours later I was looking like a princesses. My hair was curled up even though my hair is already curly my wavy dress covered my feet and I had on light makeup.

Marshall came in wearing his tux his shaggy black hair was combed to the side reviling his blue eyes.

I went down stairs and entered the living room I looked at Marshall who looked like he was about to faint I still didn't see why Macy liked him so much. But all the girls seemed to like him he isn’t that good looking.

There was a honk and me and Marshall jumped up and walked outside a limo pulled up and the door opened Marshall and Macy both blushed at the sight of each other.

Andrew was sitting next to Harley he whispered something in her ear and she blushed. I got in and sat in front of them and Marshall sat next to Macy they flirted with each other the whole way there.

As we pulled in I looked around for James but I didn't see him when we entered the school I almost felt sick I was now more nervous than ever.

I had finely spotted James he was wearing a black tux his hair was pulled back, he had green eyes which I never noticed before, I expected them to be red.

I made my way through the crowd I tried not to trip but I did and he caught me. I stood up and pulled back my hair that was now in my face we joined the others.

No one talked much. I just stood there waiting for someone to say something then the DJ made an announcement.

“Okay party animals we are now taking song requests” Harley's eyes lit up and a smile crept across her face.

“I know the most perfect song” she said joyfully then walked towards the DJ a few minutes later she was back and the DJ made another announcement.

“Okay we have a request from Harley Mason, say something”

I rolled my eyes I knew she would pick that song. Harley swayed to the music as if she were in a trance.

“We should get our pictures taken” suggested Macy, we all agreed and walked over to the photo booth.

Me and James was the last to get our pictures taken, and talk about awkward, as he pulled me in closer I got the butterflies in my stomach.

There was a blinding flash and a click I blinked my eyes several times all I could see was white dotes.

We left the photo booth, back in the gym; another song was playing one of my brother’s favorite songs, some nights.

I was wishing a slow song would come on, my wish came true. The song was cut off and the DJs voice echoed through the building again.

“Okay let’s kick it down and grab the one you love for a slow dance” announced the DJ

James turned to me and said with a smile “my I have this dance?” as if he was a prince and I was his princesses.

“Sure” I said happily.

I grabbed his hand and he pulled me to the dance floor I looked back at Harley she was giving me thumbs up.

James gripped my waist tightly and held my left hand and I placed my right hand on his shoulder I was a nervous wreck.

I try my best to not step on his feet I have never slow danced before in my life and I could tell he had a lot of practice.

“Did I tell you how beautiful you look?” he said

I smiled at him I was flattered I didn't know how to respond until finely I got the guts to say:

“Did I mention how hansom you look in your tux?” I said shyly we both smiled at each other

Once the slow song ended we joined Harley, Macy and their dates in the cafeteria as we entered I noticed all the fancy decorations.

Pink and red hearts covered the walls balloons were all over the floor and streamers were hung from the ceiling.

It was like walking into a valentines shop or something like that, there was a table covered with all you can eat junk food

We sat at the table near the door Harley went over to the buffet and came back with a try full of food her blond hair swayed back and forth as she walked.

The try was filled with popcorn, coke, pizza and cookies it was gone in a short time. We went back to the gym another song was playing then there was another announcement.

“Okay we are going to have a little fun it's time for karaoke”

The DJ turned on the spotlight and started to pick random people the first to sing was Harley I felt sorry for her.

She grabbed the microphone and went on stage I expected her to say she didn't want to sing but instead she asked them to play gunpowder and led.

She started out quiet then got a bit louder soon she had everyone singing along including me.

When the song ended everyone cheered and chanted her name I never knew she could sing like that.

I was just about to go and congratulate her when the DJ put the spotlight on me. Everyone looked at me my face was as pale as a ghost.

“Looks like we have our second singer” said the DJ

He handed me the microphone and pushed me onto the stage I looked back at Macy and Harley they both mouthed good luck and Andrew, Marshall and James gave me a thumbs up.

“There is no way I am getting out of this” I told my self

I asked for the song royals but everyone was telling me to sing wrecking ball when the DJ started playing it I had to sing it I never liked that song.

I started to sing it softly but after I got further into the song I sang a bit louder and before I knew it the song was over.

Everyone cheered and I smiled I felt really good inside. Macy and Harley kept hugging me and telling me I was great at that song.

There was a few more songs and the dance ended we sat outside to wait for the limo Macy and Harley was talking to their dates so it was just me and James sitting together.

“I never knew you could sing like that” said James “that was amazing”

“Thanks” I said

The limo finely arrived I was the first one in James was the second no one said a word Macy was the first to get dropped off then Harley. When we arrived at my house James was the only one left he got out to tell me good bye and hugged me he suddenly raised my head and then kiss me. My cheeks turned bright red and I smiled there was a sudden loud fake cough I turned around to see Marshall he drew an invisible heart around me and James I wanted to slap him.

I turned around to face James but he and the limo was gone I sighed and then I turned and punched Marshall. He smirked and went inside the house.

Chapter 3 the chase

I didn't fall a sleep until midnight I woke up startled by a tap on the balcony door. I got up to see what it was but there was nothing there.

I dozed off again but was awakened once more I went out onto the balcony I leaned over the railing.

James was standing outside below me he looked up at me and motioned me to come down.

I put on my shoes and slowly walked down stairs I opened the door slowly, it made a loud squeak.

I walked outside I went around to the back of the house James was already waiting for me.

“Up for a little fun?” he asked.

“In the middle of the night” I said rubbing my eyes.

He looked at me and then the ground and taped his feet, I sighed.

“Well I guess so” I said, he smiled.

We headed down the street we walked silently for a moment then I spoke.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“You will see”

We turned around a corner and entered a tunnel it was dark and I couldn't see I grabbed his hand and griped it tightly.

At the end of the tunnel I could see light a bright light once we got closer I could see a building. It was covered with graffiti art work light filled the windows it looked like maybe a hangout which made me nervous.

“Welcome to the vampire hangout,” I gulped a vampire hangout only meant bad news.

As soon as he opened that door everyone’s eyes were locked on me we walked in slowly everyone was dead silent.

I looked around most of them looked like teens there were a few childlike vampires but maybe they were just short.

“No one has ever brought a human here” said a raspy voice everyone turned.

A tall man with curly black hair walked up to me I tensed up a little.

“The names Drake” he held out his hand and we shook hands.

He turned to face everyone they were all still looking at me like I was a freak or something.

“Why is everyone so quiet continue with your business” said Drake

The room suddenly grew loud and everyone acted like nothing had happened.

“What is your name?” he asked.

“Misty” I said shyly.

I looked at James he had this uncomfortable look on his face Drake looked at me then at James.

“So are you to together?” he asked I stood there wondering how to respond and finally I did.

“Yes” I said proudly James eyes lit up.

Drake smiled and said with glee “well any friend of James is a friend of mine” then walked away.

I turned to look at James his face was bright red his eyes sparkled in the light he had this goofy grin on his face. We sat down on the stools near the back of the room there were a few vampires still giving me dirty looks.

James was just about to say something when the door swung open and a muscular man walked in everyone gasped. Oh god I thought we just got here and already there’s trouble.

James quickly grabbed my hand and started for the door but didn't get far.

“Nobody move I smell a human” he said sniffing the air oh no I thought I am going to die.

Drake stepped in front of him and bulked up the man gave him a dirty look.

“You got some nerve coming here” said Drake.

The man cracked his knuckles which made me tense up even more James looked like he was about ready to attack him.

“Well you got some nerve bringing a human here”

“What makes you think there is a human here?” Drake said balling his fists.

“Don’t play stupid with me I know you can smell the human” the man shot back.

Drake turned to face me and James and mouthed run James, still holding my hand darted to the door.

The man ran after us he reached out to grab me but missed and fell he let out an angry growl. My heart was racing I looked back he was right on our tail he snarled at me I let out a scream.

I felt myself fall to the ground I looked up; the man was towering over me his red eyes filled with rage.

I got up and ran my feet grew heavier and heavier I couldn't seem to get a head of him, James didn't seem to be tired. We made it out of the tunnel and was back on the streets I turned around again and the man was gone.

We stopped my hands were shaking and my heart was still racing.

“I am sorry” panted James “I should have never have brought you there”

“Who was that man?” I asked trying to catch my breath.

“You know that man that was in the ally?” he asked I nodded

“Well that was Jason” he said “the same man who turned me into a vampire” his voice filled with sorrow.

We walked the rest of the way home we walked up onto the porch he put his arms around me, standing in his arm I felt safe.

He kissed me softly and said that he was sorry I had to go through all that. I waved goodbye and went inside.

The next morning at school I told Harley and Macy what had happen they seemed more freighted then I was.

They both hugged me and then Harley told me how she and Andrew were dating and that she was going to sing in the talent show this year.

I would have been more interested but I was still too freaked out by what happened yesterday.

Marshall came up to use with a wicked smile across his face he looked at me with that, I know what you did look.

“Thought you were sneaky” he said evilly I turned red

“How did you find out?” I asked

“Oh I saw you and James on the porch” he said then made a kissy face

I was mad I hated the kissy face I punched him in the arm he hollered ouch I laughed at him. He didn't think it was funny.

“So you and him got a thing going on?” he asked I rolled my eyes and punched him again.

Harley and Macy looked at me and smiled.

“I knew James liked you” Harley said smiling

I had that feeling to but I never said anything to him now I felt like he was my whole world. That day after school I headed home I didn't bother to stop by my mom’s work office.

I sat on my bed the house was so silent like someone had just died.

I sat there with my mind filled with strange thoughts which flooded my mind Marshall was at a friend house so I was left alone.

My phone rang James sent me a text I read it out loud:

Meet me at the community pond.

I sat there wondering why he would want me to meet him there I slipped my shoes back on and headed out I looked up at the sky it was cloudy.

As soon as I arrived I knew something was troubling him I wanted to ask him if he was okay but I didn't. He looked at me his eyes filled with sadness

But he forced a smile on his face.

“What’s the matter?” I asked

“Nothing I just wanted to hang out” I knew he was lying.

I knew whatever it was it was hurting him stared at the ground he didn't make a sound.

We sat down under the oak tree I rested my head on his shoulder he put his arm around me. Being in his presents I felt like nothing in the world mattered but him like my heart was going to burst.

I guess that's what true love feels like...great now I feel like fucking Bella

Swan, He turned and looked at me and said with a smile

“Let’s make this the best day ever” I looked at him and blinked.

“Okay” I said.

Chapter 4

We walked down the street talking about our favorite things we laughed and goofed off.

“Do you like carnivals?” he asked

“Yes I love them” he smiled and cheered

“Good because that's where we are going” he said cheerfully it seemed like all the sadness within him disappeared.

We arrived at the carnival the sound of screaming kids filled my ear drums I wondered how we were to pay for all this.

We stood at the ticket booth I stood and James leaned forward.

“Two fun passes please” he said he handed her a twenty dollar bill and she handed him two paper cards.

He turned and faced me and grinned we walked up to the first ride I felt like I was five again my mom stopped taking me and Marshall to carnivals when we turned 12.

A tall man wearing overalls asked for our tickets James showed him our passes the man smiled and told us to go on in.

We sat down I suddenly felt scared I never liked the twister ever since my last experience with the twister I hated the ride ever since.

“Ready” said the man I shut my eyes and gulped.

As soon as that ride took off I screamed I kept my eyes shut and held on for dear life I was terrified.

James gripped my hand and held it the entire ride once it was over I darted out of it some of the other riders were laughing and smiling.

I wasn’t too happy after that ride that's when James suggested playing a game I agreed and we walked over to the dart game.

A crazy looking man stood at the booth he had green Afro and wore a jumpsuit with dart patterns on it.

“Three dollars to play” he said James reached into his pocket and pulled out the money.

“Okay to win you have to pop six balloons” he explained.

He handed me six darts I popped all but one I won a small prize it was a stuffed dragon.

The last ride was the Ferris wheel we sat side by side we talked quietly.

We left soon after there was still a few more hours before I had to be home. We went back to the pond we sat near the water I leaned back and looked up at the sky the stars were out and lite up the sky like fireworks.

The sounds of crickets and rustling trees surrounded us it was a peace full night a gentle wind blew in. I looked at James his eye was filled with sadness again.

“Misty there's something I need to tell you” his voice was full of sorrow

I stared at him I knew what he was trying to do I now knew why he was so sad he was saying goodbye.

“y-you are saying goodbye?” I stammered

“Do you think I want to?” he asked “I have to”

“Why?” I asked he looked at me and then the ground

“Because if I don't J-Jason will kill you” I got off the ground

“Why would Jason want to kill me?”

He didn't look at me it took him a while before he would answer.

“You really want to know?” he asked.

“Yes”

He sighed and sat down I knew it would be a long story.

“This would never have happened if I hadn't told him that I liked you but this was before the dance and all that crazy drama when I told him. He was furious that's why he attacked you in that ally”

“But why would he attack me I mean why should he care” I asked

“Because he is my uncle” he said “and he says all humans are bad and I should never trust them. But Misty your different and I know this sounds cheesy as hell but I really like you, I’ve liked you since 9th grade year.”

We sat there in long silence.

“The reason he was at the hangout is because he knew you would be there” he said softly

“I can't put you in danger if something happened to you I wouldn't be able to live with myself”

“Do you understand why I have to say goodbye?” he asked I nodded

Tears ran down my face I quickly wiped them away he got up and went over by the tree and picked up a box.

“This is for you” he said handing me the box

I opened it inside was the most beautiful rose I had ever seen its petals were as soft as silk, the leafs were greener than grass and it was red, so red that it looked like it was bleeding.

“It’s called a bleeding rose they live forever even after it's been cut you probably never heard of it it's a vampire thing” he said

“I love it”

He smiled I wrapped my arms around him.

“I will always remember you please don’t forget about me” he whispered, tears escaped my eyes I didn't want him to go.

He walked me home I held the rose close to my chest we stood by the front door he hugged me and kissed me goodbye and then he was gone just like that.

I felt my self breaking down, my heart pounded my chest, my eyes watered he can’t do this I needed him he can’t leave me like this. I fell to my knees tears streamed down my face I pounded the pavement. I screamed out I could explain why I felt this way I need to know him more but now I couldn’t I will never see his green eyes, or his raven black hair all I had was his bleeding rose.

Hey there! backroads here to write a review!

You have a really interesting concept here! I like the new take on the vampire-romance, and think it's sweet that James has had this crush on Misty for so long! Before I begin, I would like to suggest that you break up your posts a little more. It's great that you already have four chapters written, but posting them all together makes it difficult for a reviewer to give quality feedback on everything. For the most part, my real specific details are going to focus on the beginning.

I will agree with ananeutz was saying about detail, though. I feel like there's quite a bit lacking from the storyline- for the most part it's all there, but a few spots need to be flushed out and described in a little more detail.

I decided to go through the alley which was extremely dumb. The alley wasn't safe at night, but it went right threw to my neighborhood.
The entire introduction of the attack needs to have more detail. Build up the suspense. Why is Mistly just now admitting that the alleyway was a dumb move? Does she normally take it- but simply not this late at night? Does she already hear footsteps behind her, reminding her of just how dangerous a the situation she's put herself in is? Build up to the attack, don't just leap into it.

Also, the whole part about her getting bitten is confusing and, (in my opinion) a little bit cliche. Why didn't she turn into a vampire because of this? And how on earth is James able to demonstrate such extreme self-control? If anything, I change that bit so that Misty is simply being attacked- have her attacker slap her, knock her to the ground, ect... but not actually bite her. Also, Misty just suddenly knows that James is a vampire, and she's relatively okay with that. Having such a sudden realization would be a big deal- I would make her respond accordingly and act a little more feaked-out. This is the introduction to the main conflict, drag out the whole scene: make it feel like it takes the four(ish) hours that she's gone for.

Also, I feel like Misty's friends are a little underdeveloped. Flush out their character's more- give the reader a tiny-bit more back story. Like the whole idea about her making their dresses (or adding her own personal flare to them)? That is really cool, and a big deal, but you move past it so quickly that the reader has to dismiss it. This is our chance for back story and character-development, so use it.

Finally, that last thing I noticed plot-wise is that her relationship with James feels rushed. As far as the reader knows, she's only spent a few days with him, but she's already in-love enough to brush off the fact that he brought her into a dangerous situation and fall so madly in love that she is broken when he tells her she has to leave. There needs to be... more. Just more. Make your readers come to love James as much as Misty does. Right now, I feel like I'm only scraping the surface at the depth of their romance.

Other than that, you have a really nice story here! I like that you chose to avoid the stereo-typical 'and they lived happily ever-after,' and felt that you did a good job portraying the innocence in James' crush and Misty's infatuation. To have a crush on someone for so long, but avoid them for their own sake- that is incredibly sweet! And it makes the end so much more heart-breaking. Just be sure to watch your grammar (you have a tendency to write in run-on sentences) and to fill out the details behind the plot

Hope some of this was helpful!

Hey there senpai! I'm going to leave a review hope you find it helpful :) Cool story idea you have got going, however, i did get a few feelings of deja-vu so maybe create a scene that makes your story unique? Also there were spelling errors sprinkled around throughout the piece, but those can be easily fixed. Your transitions were a little rocky especially during the "mugging" scene, one second Misty is walking then all of the sudden she is against the wall? i was a little confused, maybe add a few more details. I was also slightly confused with the encounter with her mother because her mom believed her story right away and her demeanor completely changed. I was expecting her mom to be a bit more skeptical. It also felt like a surface story to me, but to fix that all you have to do is add detail. Overall, it was very interesting! Keep writing!
