“Will it hurt?”

I whisper with a quiver to my voice.

You shake your head no

And offer me a smile.

Gently you toy with the hem of my shirt.

Right here and now I make my choice.

The passion inside me begins to grow,

My confidence, though, might take a while.

Of course we have gone to a certain length.

I am no stranger to your body, love,

Nor are you a stranger to mine.

But I still feel a little fear.

My heart is pounding and gaining strength.

I am on the edge—I just need a shove.

Just take my hand and I will be fine.

I love to feel you so close, so near.

You’re going against everything you were taught!

Thoughts of doubt swirl around my head.

You know this is wrong! Stop, stop, stop!

I swallow hard and hesitate.

But then I discard thoughts so distraught

And pull you close upon my bed.

Again my heart starts to skip and hop,

So loud I’m sure it will resonate.

Slowly you pull my shirt off of me.

Your hands are light as a feather

As they brush my porcelain skin.

I return the favor with shaking hands.

I cannot tell which to be:

Excited we’re together

Or scared of my sin.

I truly hope you understand.

Again you smile and stroke my cheek

And all of my fear just falls away.

This is what I want to do.

I’m ready now. I’m ready for this.

The feelings you give me... I go weak.

Together our bodies move and sway.

I happily give myself to you

And surrender to your tender kiss.

I thought this was going to have an unpleasant ending because I'm jaded but I was met with a nice surprise. Your use of descriptive and rhyming words really make this poem a worthwhile read, it stitches the whole poem together. It is so lovely the way you described how nervous and hesitant the narrator is and how they slowly work up the bravado to realize they're ready for this big step in life. I also really like the way you described sex in almost a gentle and loving way, it set the whole mood for the poem. One little correction, "The feelings you give me... I go weak." I think you should either remove the spacing right before the I, or move it down into its own line, otherwise you did a good job! :).

This was the most beautiful and relatable poem I've read. I loved your use of vivid imagery. I could picture the passionate moment in my mind so perfectly. I felt like it was so romantic. Two people who desperately loved each other desiring to be closer to each other's bodies. Doing something that you've been curious about for such a long time. The most frightening and memorable moment of your life. This poem was great and flawless in my eyes. Keep writing! I would absolutely love to hear more of your poems. It's obvious that this one had a lot of emotion behind it.
