To be a Christian is...

To be a Christian is...

To live, to love

To laugh, to cry

To feel, to experience

To embrace, to let go

To tremble in awe, to boldly stand up

To remember what we've lost, to let God's strength help us move on

To never lose our focus, to keep on praying

To share with the world the joy we have found in our
beautiful, perfect, amazing, merciful, just, loving, extraordinary God.

Yay!!!! A fellow Christian!!! That was a good poem, though fairly simplified. You could have put in a little more about what it means to be a Christian, but these are still good examples. Keep writing girlfriend, and add Warrior Princess as your friend!!
In conclusion, love God and honor the queen (that is, me). ;)

Hey! Simply awesome. It's good to see someone writing for the lord. It gives you a bit more hope when you see others out there. Sorry I don't have anything useful to say about the poem, bcause everybody's said everything already, but hey. Rock on!

Practicing Catholic here hah.

I'm usually content with "There is a God, be good to one another and make sure to help those who need a leg up."

This work however caught a feeling alot of religious people share.

Its simplicity was carried on by many stronger words and phrasings.

Loved it, great content.

I wish it was just a little bit longer.

Hey there!

I'd say the biggest problem I have with your poem is that your subject is a little strange and you kind of go in a weird direction. I don't mean the subject of what to be a Christian is like - but the examples you give. A lot of those things can be done by non-Christians too, and if you really want to write a poem about being Christian, you should find more specific examples, in vivid detail, of things specific to being Christian. When you mention God - yes, that works - but simply, "to live, to live" doesn't work, because everyone does that, Christian or not.

Also, poetry isn't the art of lists. Give some life to this! Use real sentences, vivid imagery of the senses, beautiful words, and paint a picture for your reader. Make me feel what it is like to be a Christian - don't just tell me about it! Let your poem radiate the joy and beauty of God.

Hope this helps!

Hey there AC! Welcome to YWS!

First of all, I agree with mystymizer. Never call your work 'trash.' It not only can decrease the number of comments you'll get, but also discourages your spirit for writing. Be positive! ^^

OK, back to the poem. It's simple, but I'm fine with that. You must be quite a devoted Christian to write this. ^^

Well, so far, the only problems are:

1) Punctuation. I noticed that you only remembered to add a full-stop at the last line, but what about the rest?

2) I think you overloaded the last line with adjectives. I understand the devotion to God that it expresses, but it makes the line too long and awkward. I think just three adjectives are enough.

Not bad work though. I think you have the potential to convey emotions in a poem without messing anything up.
Keep writing!
:)

Never critsize your own work by saying it's "not good". How many people are going to want to comment on it when even the author thinks it's trash? Write because you love to write and you love what it is that you write, I think you should have more appreciation for your own work before you expect others to have appreciation for it themselves.

Anyway, to the poem itself!
Cute and short. I would suggest starting it like;
"To be a Christina is to;"
because the poem is more of a list meaning that a semi-colon would work perfectly here! Also adding the 'to' in means that you do not have to use it at the beginning of every single line adding more variety to the poem itself!

Not me seeing all these wall posts about peoples quotes and wondering: "When will it be my turn?"
