There is an addiction that I can’t let go in my life. I have been so intrigued by this certain subject since I was a middle school student. To believe that I have an addiction over this makes my mind wonder at times. My legal addiction is my interest in anime.
Anime is an animation that is made from Japan, brought to the United States after translating the language to English, or, if you want, just watch it in Japanese. My first anime that I ever watched entirely is called Bleach. Bleach is about a man who becomes a substitute soul reaper to rid the world of undead creatures called hollows. When I first saw this show, I wanted to see more anime continuously. My addiction grew stronger and stronger to the point that in order to become truly addicted to anime, I did certain tasks that my addiction become powerful. Anime isn’t a topic that you shouldn’t just throw out on conversation. You have to truly experience the power and purpose of the anime in order to have a full-detailed conversation with your fellow otaku, which means a HUGE anime fan.
My addiction became stronger when I started writing fan fiction about certain anime I enjoyed. Fan fiction is writing based off a show, videogame, etc. I write romance fan fiction, meaning I write about couples in anime people don’t even expect to be together. About three years ago, I wrote fan fiction about this anime I used to watch called Naruto. I wrote about the couple people loved the most because I wanted to interest my readers in a story about a topic they all discuss and enjoy. I wrote about one of the main couples (that people assumed that they will be together), Hinata Hyuga and Naruto Uzamaki. I wrote lots of fan fiction between these two people because I was addicted to the pair and my readers were interested in the stories I wrote about the couple. Fan fiction in anime is a powerful tool that people and myself seem to linger over, have emotions over, and scream over when reading the fan-based stories.
The other way my addiction with anime grew stronger was by reading the comics that came before the anime was produced, manga. Manga is a Japanese comic book that you read from right to left, instead of left to right, like we do in America. In manga, they tend to put parts in where it is never shown in the anime. Manga also show parts that continue the anime series after the actual anime on television ends the show early. When I read manga, I literally laugh or cry, depending on the situation. I never expected to feel emotions over comic books. As soon as I started reading manga for the first time, my mind and heart became attached to the series because I wanted to know how it ended. Questions linger my mind when I first start reading a manga. What’s the main plot about? Are there side stories for each character in this story? Who are the main couple? All these are sometimes answered (due to the fact that some manga don’t involve romance). Manga is one of the ways to get hooked before you start watching the actual show yourself.
My legal addiction, anime, has made me do different tasks that made my addiction become stronger. I write fan fiction based on different anime and manga I enjoy for a living. I usually write romance fan fiction for my readers to discuss and enjoy for their anime pleasure. I read manga to help me learn more about the anime I am interested in at the moment. I gained emotions that I never thought I would truly expressed by reading manga. It opens my heart and mind to questions I tend to linger over for certain periods of time. My addiction to anime is a strong one, and I tend to keep it that way for as long as I live. I am an anime addict.

For one, I think this is a wonderful way to explain it. But when I see the word "Addiction", I usually think of it as a bad thing. But I think this is wonderful, writing fan-fiction about something you are passionate about, makes the message stronger. I have not seen many Anime movies myself, but I know a friend who absolutely loves it, and it has never been a bad thing for her. And the shows from Anime that I've seen, I absolutely adored. The ones I remember that I am pretty sure were Anime, were:
"Ponyo"
"The Secret Life of Arrietty"
And
"Up On Poppy Hill".
I hope that I may read some of the fan fiction you wrote.

You're definitely not alone! I am anime/manga obsessed, and certainly agree with your statement that it's hard to talk about anime or manga unless both (or all members of the group) have personally watched/read and enjoy it. I'm entirely focused on two anime right now: Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) and Darker Than Black. I also just finished S.A.O and some of the .Hack series. Anyways, my friend isn't really into any of those, and it's really hard to talk about something you're super excited about when the other person couldn't care less!
I really liked how you defined the terms, since a lot of people have never even heard of the term 'otaku'. The detail about how Japanese manga is read was also a nice tid-bit; you have no idea how many times I've cracked up and had to help because a friend started reading it the wrong way!
I have only two suggestions (this was pretty well-written, so there are very few--if any--flaws). First, maybe include subbed anime? You talk about translated and fully Japanese, but there is still the subbed versions. That's a really minor detail, I know...
Secondly, for some reason the term "my legal addiction" seemed repetitive. I don't have any personal suggestions (I know there aren't but so many ways you can word a single idea), but I just wanted to mention that.

Well done on the technical. Mechanically, this piece is solid, and nothing sticks out.
Also, good job on defining terms. For those not familiar with the terms, you defined most of them. The only term left out (that jumped immediately to mind while reading) was "shipping." You could have easily tagged that on the end of:
Or, you could have had another sentence generalizing shipping, and then tell about your particular facet.
I wasn't exactly sure about this sentence:
So you get paid for your fanfics? Or you enjoy them for a living? That's a really weird place for that modifier. And if you do get paid, tell us more! That's really interesting.
The only thing I wasn't sure on was your definition of "anime." Anime is an art style that originated from that, but it isn't exclusively that. There's series like RWBY (bless that amazing series) that are American, but they're anime/anime-styled.
