Fear

by Ang920

Fear

its a funny thing.

You never know what yours is

until the day you come face to face with it

and even then, you don't admit you're afraid.

You, yourself do not want to believe that this is your fear.

So you tell yourself its not.

You take the fear and you bury it deep inside of you, hoping it will never see the light of day again.

You then forget about it.

It never comes to mind.

Until that one day.

The day when you come face to face with your fear again.

This time it is bigger,

less easy to hide.

Yet, you still try!

You bury is again, but you still know its there.

You start to worry,

you know that it has become to hard to hide.

The fear becomes all you think about.

Everything you say or do is in fear.

The fear becomes your life...

You finally realize that instead of you overcoming the fear, the fear has overcome you.

It plays with your mind.

Rips and tears at it.

Confuses you.

Scares you.

It lets you know no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to get rid of it.

So you wait.

You hope.

You pray

for the day the fear leaves you.

the day you finally have peace

the day you finally get your mind back.

The day you're finally free.

The final line is absolutely beautiful!
Yes, this is definitely poetry, and it is an extremely well-done work. I feel that all constructive criticisms would lean towards the side of diction in my mind, however i feel that diction was consistent with a perfect tone for this work. Well done!

Excellent job! Yes, it is definitely poetry. It's all very true and relatable as well. Here's my favorite part, because I've felt like this so many times.

Very powerful, especially the ending, where the reader feels a burden lifting from them even though they technically aren't experiencing it.

The only things I would suggest is I think the first word of a line is supposed to be capitalized (but I may be wrong) and some punctuation after the first line would be useful in separating it from the second. They kind of flow directly into each other without a break... unless you want it like that, of course.

Yes, this is poetry :) Very true poetry, I might add.

My favorite part (even though it's like half the poem :P):

It plays with your mind.

Rips and tears at it.

Confuses you.

Scares you.

It lets you know no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to get rid of it.

So you wait.

You hope.

You pray

for the day the fear leaves you.

the day you finally have peace

the day you finally get your mind back.

The day you're finally free.

The ending is very powerful and leaves a lasting impression.

The only thing(s) I would change:

You take the fear and you bury it deep inside of you, hoping it will never see the light of day again.

You finally realize that instead of you overcoming the fear, the fear has overcome you.

It lets you know no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to get rid of it.

All three of these line are significantly longer than the rest of the poem. They could easily be chopped in half to improve the formatting.

Great job!
