Hunckback...confused me. And terrified me. Frollo's 'desire' for Esmerelda was really icky. The music was incredible though. "God Help the Outcasts" is one of my all time favorite pieces.

Have you noticed they've stopped doing sung films anymore? It's really sad.
Sing lustily and with a good courage. Beware of singing as if you were half dead, or half asleep; but lift up your voice with strength.

Hunchback was bewildering and creepy, rather--at least, not really a kid's story. -_-''

Well, it's adapted from Victor Hugo, what is one to do? But I will admit that Frollo's little.....fasination creeped me out no end. But, if nothing else, it made the story a little (okay, a lot) more dark, and I've always had a soft spot for bad guys anyway. :-)
So, changing the mood from Hunchback, you say? Tarzan's also one of my top favorites, and I really enjoyed the way they did the songs there, so here you go:

Whatever you do,
I'll do it too
Show me everything
And tell me how
It all means something
And yet nothing to me

I can see there's so much
To learn
It's all so close and yet
So far
I see myself as people
See me
Oh, I just know there's
Something bigger
Out there

I wanna know,
Can you show me?
I wanna know about these
Strangers like me
Tell me more,
Please show me
Something's familiar about
These strangers like me

Every gesture, every move
That she makes
Makes me feel like
Never before
Why do I have
This growing need to be
Beside her

Ooo, these emotions
I never knew
Of some other world
Far beyond this place
Beyond the trees
Above the clouds
I see before me a
New horizon

I wanna know,
Can you show me?
I wanna know about these
Strangers like me
Tell me more,
Please show me
Something's familiar about
These strangers like me

Come with me now
To see my world
Where there's beauty
Beyond your dreams
Can you feel the things
I feel
Right now, with you
Take my hand
There's a world I need
To know

I wanna know,
Can you show me?
I wanna know about these
Strangers like me
Tell me more
Please show me
Something's familiar about
These strangers like me

...I wanna know

You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! -- Peter Pan:

Think of the presents you've brought
Any merry little thought
Think of Christmas, think of snow
Think of sleigh bells Here we go!
Like a reindeer in the sky

You can fly! You can fly!
You can fly! You can fly!

Soon you'll zoom all around the room
All it takes is faith and trust
But the thing that's a positive must
Is a little bit of pixie dust
The dust is a positive must

You can fly! You can fly!
You can fly! You can fly!

When there's a smile in your heart
There's no better time to start
It's a very simple plan
You can do what the birdies can
At least it's worth a try

You can fly! You can fly!
You can fly! You can fly!

Yay! Peter Pan rocks. Really didn't like the sequel, but it did have one really cool song in it that I shall now post:

I am not a child now
I can take care of myself
I mustn’t let them down now
Mustn’t let them see me cry
I’m fine, I’m fine

I’m too tired to listen
I’m too old to believe
All these childish stories
There is no such thing
As faith, and trust, and pixie dust

I try
But it’s so hard to believe
I try
But I can’t see what you see
I try, I try, I try…

My whole world is changing
I don’t know where to turn
I can’t leave you waiting
But I can’t stay and watch the city burn
Watch it burn

I try
But it’s so hard to believe
I try
But I can’t see what you see
I try, I try
I try and try to understand
The distance in between
The love I feel
The things I fear
And every single dream

I can finally see it
Now I have to believe
All those precious stories
All the world is made of
Faith, and trust, and pixie dust

So, I’ll try
Because I finally believe
I’ll try, cuz I can see what you see

I’ll try, I’ll try
I will try
I’ll try…
To fly…

Despite my utter hatred for Cinderella (she does absolutely nothing in pursuit of her desires, gah!), the music is worth a listen.

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

My favorite Disney film, however, is Beauty and the Beast. Belle (just like Ariel) actually takes her fate into her own hands.

Is he gone? Can you imagine? He asked me to marry him!
Me! The wife of that boorish, brainless--

"Madame Gaston!"
Can't you just see it?
"Madame Gaston!"
His "little wife"
No sir! Not me!
I guarantee it!
I want much more than this provincial life;

I want adventure in the great wide somewhere,
I want it more than I can tell.
And for once it might be grand,
To have someone understand,
I want so much more than they've got planned.
Sing lustily and with a good courage. Beware of singing as if you were half dead, or half asleep; but lift up your voice with strength.

Artist: Sleeping Beauty Lyrics
Song: Once Upon A Dream Lyrics

I know you
I walked with you once upon a dream.
I know you
The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
Yes, I know it's true
that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
the way you did once upon a dream

I love this one, short and simple... and I also like this one... where is it:
Honor to Us All
Vocals: Beth Fowler, Marnie Nixon, Lea Salonga and Chorus
Music: Matthew Wilder
Lyrics: David Zippel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what you give me to work with?
Well, honey, I've seen worse
We're going to turn this sow's ear
Into a silk purse

We'll have you
Washed and dried
Primped and polished till you glow with pride
Trust my recipe for instant bride
You'll bring honor to us all

Wait and see
When we're through
Boys will gladly go to war for you
With good fortune and a great hairdo
You'll bring honor to us all

A girl can bring her family
Great honor in one way
By striking a good match
And this could be the day

Men want girls with good taste
Calm
Obedient
Who work fast-paced
With good breeding
And a tiny waist
You'll bring honor to us all

We all must serve our Emperor
Who guards us from the Huns
A man by bearing arms
A girl by bearing sons

When we're through you can't fail
Like a lotus blossom soft and palm
How could any fellow say "No sale"
You'll bring honor to us all

There - you're ready
Not yet
An apple for serenity ...
A pendant for balance ...
Beads of jade for beauty
You must proudly show it
Now add a cricket just for luck
And even you can't blow it

Ancestors
Hear my plea
Help me not to make a fool of me
And to not uproot my fam'ly tree
Keep my father standing tall

Scarier than the undertaker
We are meeting our matchmaker
Destiny
Guard our girls
And our future as it fast unfurls
Please look kindly on these cultured pearls
Each a perfect porcelain doll

Please bring honor to us
Please bring honor to us
Please bring honor to us
Please bring honor to us
Please bring honor to us all

This is how my mom still feels about me... heh... I need to be more... proper... like back in ancient China proper... she can't remember when she last saw me doing anything girly.

Yeah, that song rocks. Another one from that movie that really just spoke to me: Reflection:

Look at me
I will never pass for a
Perfect bride
Or a perfect daughter
Can it be
I'm not meant to play
This part?
Now I see
That if I were truly
To be myself
I would break my
Family's heart

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight
Back at me?
Why is my
Reflection someone
I don't know?
Somehow I cannot hide
Who I am
Though I've tried
When will my
Reflection show
Who I am inside?

When will my
Reflection show
Who I am
Inside?

Meh. I wish they would stop coming out with all these stupid sequels to originals. Toy Story 2: fine. But really, Cinderella 2? *dies*

Hmmm...

Best Friends

When you're the best of friends
Having so much fun together
You're not even aware, you're such a funny pair
You're the best of friends

Life's a happy game
You could clown around forever
Neither one of you sees, your natural boundaries
Life's one happy game

If only the world wouldn't get in the way
If only people would just let you play
They say you're both being fools
You're breaking all the rules
They can't understand your magic wonderland
Hu-hu-hu

When you're the best of friends
Sharing all that you discover
When that moment has passed, will that friendship last?
Who can say if there's a way?
Oh I hope . . . I hope it never ends
'Cause you're the best of friends

^ Oh man, I love that movie so much. Aren't Tod and Copper so adorable?

Go The Distance

I have often dreamed
Of a far-off place
Where a great warm welcome
Will be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be

I will find my way
I can go the distance
I'll be there someday
If I can be strong
I know ev'ry mild
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
to feel like I belong

I am on my way
I can go the distance
I don't care how far
Somehow I'll be strong
I know ev'ry mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
to find where I belong

^ I love that song. ^.^

Haha! Jungle Book rocks. Here are the lyrics from I Wanna Be Like You, I actaully got them from my Disney's Greatest Hit CD:

(scat)

Now I’m the King of the swingers
Oh, the jungle VIP
I’ve reached the top and had to stop
And that’s what’s botherin’ me
I wanna be a man, mancub
And stroll right into town
And be just like the other men
I’m tired of monkeyin’ around!

Oh, oobee doo
I wanna be like you
I wanna walk like you
Talk like you, too
You’ll see it’s true
An ape like me
Can learn to be
Human, too

(scat and spoken dialogue)

Now don’t try to kid me, mancub
I made a deal with you
What I desire is man’s red fire
To make my dream come true
Now, give me the secret, mancub
Come on, clue me what to do
Give me the pow’r of man’s red flow’r
So I can be like you

(scat)

You!
I wanna be like you!
I wanna walk like you
Talk like you, too
You’ll see it’s true
Someone like me
Can learn to be
Like someone like me
(Take me home, Daddy!)
Can learn to be
Like someone like you
(One more time! Yeah!)
Can learn to be
Like someone like me!

(scat)

This is my favourite disney song ever, what do you think?

Esmeralda
I don't know if You can hear me
Or if You're even there
I don't know if You would listen
To a gypsy's prayer
Yes, I know I'm just an outcast
I shouldn't speak to you
Still I see Your face and wonder
Were You once an outcast too?

God help the outcasts
Hungry from birth
Show them the mercy
They don't find on earth
God help my people
We look to You still
God help the outcasts
Or nobody will

Parishioners
I ask for wealth
I ask for fame
I ask for glory to shine on my name
I ask for love I can posess
I ask for God and His angels to bless me

Esmeralda
I ask for nothing
I can get by
But I know so many
Less lucky than I
Please help my people
The poor and downtrod
I thought we all were
The children of God
God help the outcasts
Children of God

(It's called God help the outcasts by the way).
H. Edwards

Awwww... I adore that song. I can actually play it on the piano too! I want to find the harder music for it, though, because I only have the most basic version of it. Still pretty though. Woot for Stephen Schwartz. :D
