I say thunder because it's the rain AND thunder that I prefer. If I had to choose just one, it would be rain, but thunderstorms usually involve rain too.
I live in a desert, so whenever we have interesting weather, thunderstorms for example, it really gets me pumped to be writing. And petting the cat. That's cool too.

O>O I'm shocked, so few people picked thunder. A bit of good, visible, nearby lightening helps. I had a lightening bolt knock a tree down outside of my window one time when I was writing. Very inspiring.

It really depends on what I'm writing. But I do always love lying awake to the drip of raindrops on the roof and planning out plot lines in my head. Then again, I love rain even if it isn't for writing.
I normally like it better when it's raining because rain has a certain calming quality to it, but I feel like a cloudy day would be a better example of how I feel when I'm writing. A cloudy day can mean that maybe the sun will come out, maybe it'll rain, maybe there'll be a thunderstorm. The point is, there are as many possibilities that can come from a cloudy day as there are for a piece of writing.
Me? I work in my mom's office, late at night. Any noise completely ruins it. So as long as the weather is quiet and doesn't disturb my music.... I am fine!! Probably clear night sky, though.
Rain is just a lovely excuse not to do anything but read or write. It's kind of a "Welp, I can't go outside, and there's 'nothing' to do inside. Oh well, more goodies for me!"
I feel guilty for staying inside on sunny days, so I usually go out and do stuff or read on my deck. I hate playing videogames during the day, especially if they are sunny. I can write on sunny days, but it is great when it is raining or even overcast.

I love how sunny weather is low. Though it makes sense considering many of these people have probably seen their computer screen or book more times than the sun XDXD I like cloudy weather. The world shields the sun and casts a gloomy glow over the horizon. I love it. The gloom kicks my gears in motion. Plus, sunlight burns gagh
