The Castaways (Started)

Based on Sims Castaways.

Plot:

A cruise called The Maiden's Kiss with 212 passengers aboard is sailing the Pacific. One night, a massive storm hits. Merciless waves toss the ship around, knocking many off-board. Stuck in the middle of the ocean, there is no hope for survival. The ship is torn apart, killing 202 people. Only ten survived. Those ten awake on the shore of a mysterious island, with exotic fruits and wild animals, such as birds, monkeys, etc. You and the other nine are rescued by a woman named Bellalyse. Together, you will learn to adapt to your surroundings, hunt, build shelters, whatever it takes to survive. Around the island are four people. You will greet these castaways and help them; in return, they will help you. Hidden amongst the island are seven remaining pieces of a map. If you succeed in finding the seven pieces, the map will show you a path to a ship, which you will sail home in.

Chef Leroy: Leroy is a kind, jolly-hearted man who can make a meal out of anything on the island. Trade with him and he will most likely share a meal or his infamous recipes.

Suzie Seamstress: Suzie is a rather impatient, yet sweet, young woman who can make clothing out of anything you can find on the island. Trade with her and she will most likely make you a decent dress or shirt.

Miranda the Farmer: Miranda is a tall, petite woman who loves agriculture and gardening. She has seeds of many different kinds of grains, plants, fruits, and vegetables. She will most likely trade you a bag of seeds if you give her somethig in return.

Dr. Drew: Drew is a very handsome man with a kind soul and a wicked sende of humor. He specalizes in medical treatment, such as cuts and wounds. Be warned: he doesn't have the supplies for snake bites or poison! He offers his services for free, so be a doll and share something nice with him or give him something he could really need.

Bellalyse: A lithe woman of 21, she has been on the island for 5 years and knows the most about it. She elects herself to be the islands' "tour guide". She is the you go to for any sort of help.

Terrance is Caucasian, with the famous Jewish nose. He has black hair and dark brown eyes. He was wearing an expensive suit, of which he only has a torn white shirt and electric blue tie and black, muddy trousers. He prefers to be clean shaven, and has slow facial hair growth so does not have more than a stubble even days after being stranded on the island.

Personality:
He's an arrogant, self-important jerk. He's very sarcastic and his comments often border on rude. He has struggled very hard to get to where he is, so he looks down upon anyone who doesn't give his fullest effort. He used to have a very adaptive nature, but now he's more used to the littler comforts in life.

He seems like a fairly two-dimensional person - he works, eats and sleeps. His only guilty pleasure is (was) going to the bar on alternate weekends with three of his college friends to hang out.

He's almost a wizard with math. He is very far from an orthodox jew. He objects to being called Terry, because that's what his dad is called. He feels he can never live up to the name.

History:
His father owned a small shop in their home-town. The two of them worked tirelessly, saving money to send Terrance to college. His mother is an orthodox jew and tried to raise him so, but his father was more liberal and so he turned out like him.

He owes everything to his father and looks up to him more than anyone in the world. Every success he has, he dedicates it to his father. He works to earn a better life for his father, to allow his father to live vicariously through him.

He studies economics with a minor in marketing and joins a brokerage firm, planning to gain work experience before applying for a Masters Degree. He is still working, and on the cruise with his ross for a business meeting when it sinks.

Other:
He isn't explicitly up for love, but I'd like for him to find it on the island - simply in hopes that he'll break out of being so dull and rude, and become a bit more rounded.

He's straight, for now, but if we can work out a better story he might be more interesting as gay.

He carries a small bottle-cap with him everywhere, one of the first root beer he bought his dad with his own money. He is devastated and goes berserk when he loses it in the accident.

Appearance: Slate grey eyes that appear blue sometimes because of their shade of grey. He has a tanned olive colored skin and slicked back brown hair which later becomes wilder. He has a medium sort of physicality which develops throughout the roleplay. During the crash he is wearing a light blue shirt and white shorts with thin plimsolled shoes which are also light blue. He is roughly 5'7, so quite small for his age.

Personality: Ronan doesn't speak often. He keeps to himself and despite the advantages of being in groups with others. He prefers to keep to himself. Although when he does speak it is worth to listen to him because he is intelligent and has a very large general knowledge of the natural and rural world. All his family died on the cruise, and he can't stand to be around others because of his grief. He has lost faith in humanity and trusts only his mind and what he knows.

History: Originally from the Uk, but with a mix of something else, due to his olive skin. He was on his school holiday, his parents won a cruise and took the whole family along, but catastrophe struck and Ronan was the only one that made it away from the sinking ship and managed to collapse on a piece of debris.

Other: I will be narrating this in a 1st person perspective. He is straight and has no odd sexual preferences.

Gender: Female

Appearance (picture optional, description required): She has long black hair that falls below her waist, and dark skin. Her eyes are black with a hint of brown complemented by long lashes. She's short and is of perfect weight.

Personality (strengths/weaknesses): Divya is a shy girl who keeps to herself. She's not good at meeting new people and so she has few friends. Her strength would be her voice. She loves to sing but doesn't want to pursue a career in it as she has stage fright.

History (120+ characters minimum):
She was born in New York in a well off home. She is part Indian as her mother is an Indian. She has a loving sister and a lovely family. She is quite disturbed at the moment as her parents are forcing her to choose a career of their choice, which of course she doesn't want. She is trying to find herself and what she wants to do with her life.

Name: Sebastian Cole

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Personality: Seb is a very distant guy. He doesn't talk too much and prefers to be alone. Crowds of people actually frighten him a bit, though he won't admit this to anyone else. It's not easy to gain his trust and it may be a while before he's even comfortable having long conversations with you. Seb is quiet and secure, but is in no way "shy". If you do something that bothers him he will point it out. He might even go as far as to ask you to leave if you won't leave him alone. If he happens to overhear you saying something wrong or stupid that will get you or others hurt then he will point out your stupidity and tell you what you should do. Even if he does talk to you, his words are always curt and simple. He prefers to let others do the talking while he listens.

He can fight for himself and will only fight for you if you put yourself across as a good person. He doesn't like loud noises, crowds, or anything excessive. He also hates mean and rude people, if you're mean, snobby, rude, or just a brat or jerk then there is no way Seb will ever befriend you.

In all, Sebs is the mysterious silent type, but he doesn't do it consciously. He's always around when you don't need him and when you need him he's nowhere to be found. He sees everything and he hears everything. Because he's so quiet and generally invisible that he probably knows more about you than you'll be comfortable with.

History: Sebastian was always a quiet reserved kid, he didn't find any fun in being in large groups of people, the thought of being surrounded by people is actually a phobia of his. He has claustrophobia and a fear of touching people, or being close to people he doesn't know. As a child he spent a lot of time in the library so he is very smart. In his lifetime he's only made a few friends and, since he's very picky about who he keeps around, his friends stayed close to him even when high school was over. Sebastian's friends are like his family and he loves them a lot.

Sebastian never knew his mother or his father. He grew up with his older sister in charge of everything since she was 19 years his senior. His parents were never around for more than a minute or two at a time, and when he was able to crawl, they left him with his sister and went off on a trip they never returned from. He never really feels any sadness towards their disappearance as he never really knew them. His sister is basically his mom and his dad and he respects her a lot because he knows what she had to go through to raise him.

Sebs has only had one real romantic relationship and the only reason they separated was because the girl died in a car accident. He still keeps a locket with her picture in it around his neck. He has her name, Courtney, tattooed on his chest over his heart. It's hard for him to find love in another person because of that. Court was nice, sweet, smart, and creative. She had a great heart and he wants his future mate to be exactly like that. He's kind of stuck up on her and judges everyone else on a Courtney-scale. He's turned down countless girlfriends and boyfriends because they weren't up to Courtney's standards. His friends made him go on the ship because the 1st Anniversary of Courtney's death is coming up and they wanted to stray his mind away from the situation.

Other: He actually does smoke, it's just a thing of his. He doesn't do it compulsively but it does relax and calm him. Though Seb prefers to be alone he will give everyone that approaches him at least one chance before he blows them off, if he doesn't find a reason to ignore them then he won't be as shut off to them as the others.

Name: Eun Jae Hyung, nicknamed "Jae"

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Appearance: Jae has thick, low-maintenence black hair; dark, almond-shaped eyes accompanied with black-rimmed glasses; and tan, creamy skin that originated from his Asian ancestry. Standing at a solid 5' 8", Jae is somewhere between the borderline of being barely muscular to being a rationalized version of scrawny.

Personality: Jae is kind of an awkward guy. When he is away from his culture and home, he finds that he is weak in social skills and has trouble trying to communicate with others. This could, of course, be the obvious language barrier, but if that factor was taken away, he would still be the kind of guy to be oblivious to dity or obvious jokes, to be the one that says, "Isn't our homework due today?" in a classroom with a forgetful teacher, to be the one that drives extra slow when passing a construction site, to be the one that gives a present of a detailed flower picture made on a graphing calculator to his mom on Mother's Day, only to say, "Sorry, but I'll need that back..."

Yes, Jae was that guy. However, take away his social abilities and all that would be left is his intelligence. He's a bright guy and seems to be a wizard with the world of physics and math and science and everything in between, but when he has to work together with others to solve a problem, everything seems to topple over. Jae is the solo type of guy; he prefers to work out his problems himself. However, this doesn't mean he doesn't like to be completely alone. If he meets someone that accepts him and finds a way to be able to work with him, then a great deal of loyalness would shine through. Even so, it seemed almost impossible to be mad at Jae, or for Jae to be mad at anyone. He was, afterall, the fixer-upper, the awkward duck—that guy.

History: Jae was born and raised in the heart of Seoul of South Korea. In addition to being the eldest child, Jae's parents have always been so strict with education, and growing up, it started to reflect; he won school award after school award, science award after science award, math award after math award. And, despite having the most perfect grades in the world, he went to school after school—literally. Since the day he was finished with elementary school, he took the bus everyday to cram school. It sounded like a lot of tedious work, but Jae was alright with it; he liked learning. He liked the facts. He liked knowing. However, there were trade-offs with his brilliance: in exchange of his mass education, he only had loose friends in his life—no one he could really count on, no one he could really spend time with.

Nevertheless, Jae graduated early at seventeen as happy and content as he could be. Although his English-speaking skills were a little rusty on the edges, he really wanted to go to school in America. He applied to all sorts of higher-up colleges and universities there, and in the end, was accepted and received scholarships to MIT—Massachusetts Institute of Technology, neighboring Harvard and the number one school in the nation for engineering. That was what Jae wanted to do; he has always found a fascination with aviation and the mechanics behind it, and henceforth is going to major in aerospace.

It's been three years now since he moved out of Korea and lived in the US, and he is doing extremely well. He plans to stay in the country, and in one year, he will graduate. Of course, his proud parents couldn't be any happier with their eldest son off with future wealth and prosperity, and before he could permanently settle down and buzz with business, his family booked a ticket to The Maiden's Kiss cruise in hopes that it would start the new chapter of a good life for Jae.

Other: Jae is definitely open for any woman to claim his heart, though he has no experience whatsoever. He has never dated, has never been in any romantic situation before. Jae is also very fluent in Korean, but he is fluent in English, too. His accent used to be too thick and heavy, but it's gotten better over the years. It's easy to understand Jae now, but he does occasionally slip on words, and his accent is still very visible.

Personality (strengths/weaknesses): Anna is frequently described by her friends as bubbly, cheerful and strong; and by those that dislike her as obnoxious, loud and stubborn as an ass. She's incapable of letting an argument lie, and takes intense pleasure in being right. She's tidy and organized and opinionated.

History (120+ characters minimum): Anna grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania, and went to a rural high school where she was the student body president. She graduated and fled to Duke University for a Bachelor's in business management. She is currently in her third year, and is struggling to keep up. She does very well on exams, however, which she usually, oddly enough, looks forward to.

Other (up for love, sexual orientation, etc.): She's single, a bit busy at the moment for love but perhaps I'll let her have at it if the situation presents itself.

Name (first/last): Alexander Takkon

Gender: Male

Appearance (picture optional, description required): He stands at about 5'11 or 6'0, depends on if he's wearing shoes or not. He has naturally somewhat spiky hair that he gels to make it even more spiky, if he has the hair gel to do it. He has a toned body, high cheekbones, and tan skin from his Native American background. He is wearing baggy cargo jeans that have a zipper in the middle of the leggings so he can make it into shorts and a button up plaid shirt.

Personality (strengths/weaknesses): He loves to lead. He's been in many student council positions, and he's not half bad when it comes to intelligence. He likes to keep a good impression on anyone and he doesn't like it when people don't like him. He will go to extreme measures to get somewhat to like him.

However, he's a horrible debater, and when he loses one, that impacts his self-esteem dramatically. He takes losses to heart and it affects everything he does. He's a city kid, so being out in the wild is hard for him, but it's also hard for him to look weak in front of people, so he'll only accept people's help if they're alone.

History (120+ characters minimum): Spending his early life with his family (two older brothers, father, mother) in uptown St. Louis, his parent had a divorce. He ended up going with his father because his mother didn't want any children tagging along.

His dad ended up marrying a famous actress, and they moved to Beverly Hills. Needless to say, his family was well off and he was somewhat popular by association.

After he graduated high school, he broke it off with his girlfriend to go to Mizzou (His favorite university) while she went to some other college that he didn't care about. FREE AT LAST!

After spending one semester at college, he cut it off and decided to spend a little time "relaxing," or in his definition, partying 'till the sun comes up for a week and then kick it off with a cruise. Thus he ended up on The Maiden's Kiss.

Other (up for love, sexual orientation, etc.): He is definitely up for love and he has been known to swing both way. He also smuggled along his pet parakeet aboard the ship. It'll survive the crash with him, amazingly.

Name: Mia Denbrough.

Age: 18.

She has long chocolate brown curls that cascade down her shoulders, dark sapphire eyes that twinkle in the sun, soft porcelain skin. Very beautiful, with high cheekbones and a hourglass figure, she stands about 5'5" tall and weighs about 128 pounds. Her clothing style changes like the weather.

Personality: Mia is a head strong, yet stuborn lass who is used to being in charge. She was president her senior year of high school, one of the popular and most liked cheerleaders, and prom queen. She is a bit narcissistic and sassy. She is spoiled and speaks her mind, always blunt and honest. She is intelligent, and she knows some of the basics of how to survive on the island, but despite her lack of knowledge, she will fight to be in charge of the group. That's just how she is.

She is a strong swimmer, runner, and clothing designer. She will be the one that, once all items are obrained, will create and dye clothes for everyone. She is smart and will help think of ways to gather food or items, send up SOS signals, and generally just help survive. She does like to read and will know of many useful facts.

She is a princess, a bit of a drama queen and will demand sanitary conditions. She will want clean and tasty food, a warm place to sleep, clean clothes, and stuff to keep her occupied. She will, from time to time, complain about not being able to check Facebook or text. As annoying as it is, slapping is not permitted. Touch my char and I'll kill you with fire.

History: As stated above, Mia is a bit of a spoiled shit. She was born into a wealthy family, grew up as one of the popular kids, valedictorian, prom queen, president, blah blah. Wonderful achievements. It was, indeed, something she was incredibly thankful for, but being handed an iPhone, iPad, and Ferrari on her fifteenth birthday was probably not the best ideal way to spend her fortune. She grew up pampered and waited on, and was used to getting her way.

While she can be a prima donna, she still has her heart in the right place and isn't entirely evil. She may be a bitch at times, but she knows how to help and give back. She is kind and will do her best to help out, even though it will come with whining and yeah.

Name: Kory Juhn
Age: 19
Gender: Female

Appearance: Kory's pretty small, standing only at 5"5, and is skinnier than what should be okay. Everything about her is dainty and fragile, her friends joke about laughing with her too much for fear she'd float away. Her hair is a very dark brown with random, scattered locks of light brown in between, and her eyes are a very deep and dark black. She doesn't wear any makeup and is fond of keeping a few flowers tangled in her hair, tucked behind her ear, etc. She extremely fond of long flowing dresses and prefers to go barefoot if the situation permits.

Kory always smells distinctively of fresh soil and fruit.

Personality: Kory can sometimes seem too mellow for her own health. The time she spends trying to maintain a good mood can not be looked at in any way normal or sane. It's not because she's always happy, but because she actively tries to not let negative things affect her the way her body and mind are telling her that they should affect her. She tries to represent peace and discourages conflict. Mostly, this attitude is because she has a pretty nasty anger problem herself. Most wouldn't expect her that to come with a fiery temper, but she has serious anger management problems, and acting the way that she does helps maintain her temper - along with her medicine of course.

History: When Kory was a child, she had a really bad problem with bullying. She was practically the width and weight of a pinky, but had an attitude big enough to discourage anyone from approaching her, and a fury tantrum well enough to leave a few bruises and cuts. Around 6th, people stopped taking her crap and started picking on her, no longer intimidated. It was during that year that Kory's family started to really address her problem and seek out help. In that search, Kory found a website of meditating, her parents found a good therapist, and things steadily improved from there.

When she entered highschool, Kory had completely transformed herself into the person she is today. She acts the way she does to keep her problems under control and, even though it can be a bit tiring, she has fun doing what she does.

Her hair is naturally a dirty blond but she dyed it right before she left. Her eyes are a dark gray and she is short and very tiny. Clear skin and always is wearing a skinny silver ring on her ring finger on her right hand (from her mother).

Personality (strengths/weaknesses): Very creative. Kalel is super flexible and an a amazing dancer. She is a bit shy but that is only because of her disability. She isn't able to speak.

History (120+ characters minimum): She was born a twin in a small town in Kentucky to 2 loving parents. She was the youngest of 8 so she was always pushed around. She was a perfect child till when she was 7 her school bus crashed on the way to school and she was left not able to speak. Kalel had been lucky though, her best friend died in that crash and others where left to die too. The Tominson's soon moved after the crash because they felt they needed a new start. Her twin brother was a huge part of her life when they turned 14 because they started high school. Kalel always was in a normal school, She communicated though notes never being able to learn sign language. She was always a great dancer and joined the dance team leading the school to victory so she went on to a good collage. That's when she had the opportunity to go over sea's to study. Leading to the crash.

Dear guest, thank you for riding aboard The Maiden's Kiss. As a token of his appreciation, Captain Reeves would like to invite you to a party, located on deck, at 9 p.m. sharp. Bring your appetite, friends, family, and dancing shoes!

"You aren't going."

"Mother!" Mia cried in a childish tone, stomping her foot in anger as her mother, famous fashion model Stacey Denbrough, tossed the letter into the trashcan.

"I said no, Mia. There's to be a storm tonight and I don't want you getting sick." Stacey said in a calm voice, yet it held a ring of warning as she fixed her daughter with a stern glare, then looked pointedly at her husband.

Benjamin Denbrough looked up from his laptop, brow creased in confusion. "What?"

"The party? The storm that is suppose to happen tonight, yet those stupid people still insist on going through with their celebration?" Stacey snapped, her voice now frustrated.

"That's right!" Ben yelled, a bit too loudly, as he punched buttons into his laptop, more focused on work than he was on his family. "Listen to your mother, Mia, and stay inside the cabin tonight."

"But Dad, there won't be a storm!" Mia yelled.

"Look out the goddamn window, Mia!" Stacey roared, stabbing the air with a manicured nail as she pointed outside the porthole. Indeed, the sky was darkening as massive clouds came together, the ocean's waves moving from side to side in a disordered fashion.

"I'll come back if it starts to rain." Mia said in a quiet voice, trying to reign in her rage.

"I. Said. No. Now go to your room, you've done pissed me off." Stacey hissed, turning to glare at Ben before opening her own laptop. One the table was Glamour's latest magazine, and on the cover was her mother, smiling and posing for her successful fashion line.

"Uuugh, I hate you!" Mia yelled angrily at the both of them, then pivoted in her adorable brown sandals. She marched into her room and slammed the door shut, wincing as the boat tilted to the side rather dangerously, making her lose her balance.

After she stumbled and caught herself on the bed post, Mia huffed and smoothed out her soft yellow summer dress, then sat on the edge of her bed and started to think.

There was no way she planned on staying inside. Nope. As soon as the stupid parents went to bed, around ten, she would sneak out.

Nodding at the plan, she gently fluffed her glossy brown curls, making sure they were perfect as usual, then checked the time on her iPhone. Nine o'clock. Groaning quietly, she settled back into a chair and decided to surf Facebook, keeping quiet as she waited.

Finally. As she heard the laptops shut down and their cabin door click shut, Mia jumped up and quietly opened her suitcase, sliding off her dress and into a pair of blue skinny jeans, a white undershirt and a white halter tank top. She touched up her eyeliner and outlined her lips with pink lipstick, just a shade darker than the color they already were.

Mia sprayed herself with Japanese cherry blossom perfume, then arranged her hair so it cascaded down her shoulders in thick curls. She looked beautiful, as always.

Smirking, Mia quietly grabbed her phone and cracked open her door, listening. Nothing. Rolling her eyes as Mission Impossible started to play in her mind, she carefully slid out of the cabin and closed the door behind her, then gleefully ran down the hall and out the door.

She took the stairs up to the main deck, a soft smile on her face as she saw the crowd there. It looked like at least half of the 212 passangers had showed up.

Above her, the clouds were dark and angry, the waves crashing into the boat with more force than usual, making it sway from side to side. No one noticed.

"There you are!" Mia heard someone huff and turned to see a tall, slim blonde smirk at her.

"Hey, Elle." Mia greeted the friend she had made a few days ago, moving to join the group of guys and girls Elle was associating with.

"This is Mark, Leah, Sam. The ginger is Ron, ironically.."

As Elle started to introduce everyone, Mia was only half paying attention, staring across the room at a handsome man with shaggy golden brown hair and a cigarette hanging loosely from his perfect, rugged lips. As she stared, he slowly raised his head, fixing her with his melting chocolate brown eyes.

Mia's cheeks turned a faint pink and she quickly looked away, giving the group a small smile. "Nice to meet you all. This party serving any beer?"

"Gotta show I.D." Elle snorted, gesturing to Mia's empty hands.

"Fuck that shit." Mia rolled her sapphire eyes, then took the cup from Elle and took a hearty drink, feeling a buzz flow through her as the alcohol entered her bloodstream.

"How old are you?" One of the guys - Sam, was it? - asked curiously, peeking over the brim of his cup at Mia.

"Eighteen." Mia responded, hating the look of surprise on his face. Just because she was petite and short didn't mean she was a child. Grumbling, she drank some more, then let out a loud yell of anger as the boat jerked to the side.

Shirt now soaked in beer, Mia looked up to see a large tidal wave crash into the side of The Maiden's Kiss. It easily rose over the edge and ran down on everyone, knocking food tables over, soaking everything in sight, washing over the heads of many and bringing them underwater.

Pandemonium broke out. Mia screamed as another wave crashed down, seperating her from Elle and the group as she was flung to the side. The red solo cup was torn from her grasp, lost in the dark sea water as the sky thundered angrily.

Then the boat started to turn abruptly, as if the Helmsman was trying to run from the storm. It made a sharp curve to the right, then to the left, then tipped dangerously back to the right as the he lost his grip on the wheel.

The cruel wind, combined with the force of the ocean, managed to crash into the Helmsman, knocking him off his feet and making his disappear. With no one to man the boat, the wheel started to spin on its own, causing the boat to tip and sway violently before finally nosediving into the water.

Mia was long gone by then. She had been slammed into a pole and was barely regaining conciousness before the cruel waters of the ocean dragged her underneath, filling her lungs with poison. She barely had enough energy to open her eyes and look around, registering what happened, before shooting back up to the surface. As the blackness suddenly darkened her vision, Mia managed to grap ahold of a plank and climb on top of it. The last thing she remembered reading before she was dragged back into the darkness was her cabin number, 202.

It seemed as if Mother Nature was trying to apologize for the damage and death toll the storm caused. The morning was sunny, birds chirping and a warm breeze going, the waves peacefully swaying back and forth along the island's shore, never mind the fact that it had consumed 202 victims in the past eight hours.

Mia was fighting her way out of unconciousness, haunted by the image of her parents, the foul taste of the sea, and the very last words she had ever said echoing in her mind. I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!

Slumped face-first into the dirt, Mia was barely coming to when she heard footsteps approach. Someone lightly tapped her shoulder, then started to move her face out of the sand.

"Hey, are you dead?"

(Alright, have at it. Just remember to keep your character spaced out along the island, so we can all try and find each other. Also, the person speaking to Mia can be anyone.)

Divya Lestrange - Party on Deck

Dear guest, thank you for riding aboard The Maiden's Kiss. As a token of his appreciation, Captain Reeves would like to invite you to a party, located on deck, at 9 p.m. sharp. Bring your appetite, friends, family, and dancing shoes!

I sighed. Another party, which I would be forced to go to by my stubborn parents. As if, right on cue, my mom barged into my room with a huge smile.
"Mom, I know what you're going to say and its not happening," I said with a determined look on my face.
"But Divya! This could be a chance to make some friends," she said,her voice taking an exasperated edge.
" I don't want to make new friends!"
"You are going to this party and that's final!" she said and stormed out of the room.
I let out a frustrated groan and flopped down on my bed. Why didn't they understand? I don't want to meet new people!
I could hear my mom and dad discussing about this through the door. Jeez, its just a party!
My dad barged into the room.
"Don't you people know to knock?" I asked, annoyed.
"Why should we knock?" asked my dad.
"So that I can say I'm not here! Gee, dad don't you know this thing called privacy?" I snapped
He ignored me and said," Listen, there is this scientist on board and he told me he would love to take you under his wing for an apprenticeship."
Here we go again. My parents were complete opposites. While my dad feared that I'd one day become homeless and wander the streets, my mom feared I would become a sociopath.
"Dad, I'm only 16! I have a lot more years to become an apprentice," I said, exasperated.
"It would be a learning experien-"
"You know what, I think I'll go to that party after all," I said. Anything to prevent me form having this talk again.
My mom magically appeared at my door, beaming. Oh dear.
She squealed and said, "That's brilliant! I'll help you with hair and makeup," she said excitedly.
"No mom, I'd rather dress up by myself, thanks," I said, pushing both my parents out of the room. I locked the door this time.
I opened my closet and went through my options. I didn't want to wear a dress, so I selected a pair of blue skinny jeans and and paired with a green shirt. Green always complimented my jet black hair. I took after my mom, black hair and black eyes.
I stood in front of the mirror and combed my hair. I decided to wear my hair in a side ponytail. I added a little lip gloss and left my room. My mom was standing right outside my door.
"Mom!" I said, placing my hands over my heart.
"You look lovely dear. I only wish you wore a little more makeup," she said.
" I'm happy the way I look, mom. Now, let me go,"
She kissed me on the cheek and I left.
When I reached the deck, I saw it was a bit crowded. So many people. It seemed as though I was the youngest one on this ship. Damn. I was completely lost. I didn't know anybody. Why did I decide to go? There was a strong wind blowing my way. I looked up at the sky, huge storm clouds were floating right above me. That's not good. I went towards the refreshment table and filled my cup with something that looked like punch. I smelled the cup. It didn't smell odd, so I took a sip. Not bad. I surveyed the party. It was in full swing, and here I was at the refreshment table.
Suddenly, the boat shook to one side, making me drop my cup. I eyed the spilled drink sadly and decided to take another. I was just about to pour the punch, when I heard screams from behind me.
A monstrous wave had struck the deck, taking half the people with it. I screamed and ran towards the stairs leading towards my parents' cabin, but someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back. "No! My parents!" I screamed at the unknown guy.
"You can't go there. Its too dangerous," he said.
"I don't care! I need to get to my parents!" My words were drowned by another wave and I was engulfed my water. The guy hadn't let go of my arm so he was taken down with me. I was submerged in water. It was getting too difficult to breathe. Gasping, I broke through the surface of the water. The guy was floating nearby, lifeless.
I started to cry. I realised I wasn't on the boat anymore. Mom, Dad. The thought brought back more tears and I cried harder. Why did I come to the party? I could have stayed with them! I could have died with them.
I looked at the guy and realized, his chest was heaving, albeit slowly. He wasn't dead. I swam towards him and shook him. No response. I shook him harder. Ugh!
"Open your eyes! Please open your eyes!" I shook him harder. He must have swallowed too much of water. I placed my hands on his stomach and squeezed. Nothing happened. I squeezed harder. A second later he sputtered water out of his mouth and coughed. Yes! He coughed some more and opened his eyes.
I didn't know why, but I hugged him then. He looked startled, but didn't push me away.
"Thank goodness you're alive! I thought you were dead," I babbled.
"Thanks for saving me, " he said. I nodded. I looked at him and saw, that he had high cheekbones and spiky hair.
He was observing me too. I looked away. "I'm Divya by the way," I said. giving my hand for him to shake it.
He laughed and took it, shaking it and said, "I'm Alex. How do you pronounce your name anyways?"
I smiled and said," Dhi-vyaa. Got it?"
"Yeah."
I shivered, the water was so cold. Beside me, Alex also shivered.
After some time I felt my eyes droop and I fell asleep in the cold water. I barely registered a pair of arms catching me before I fell under.

The sun was beating down on my face, when I woke. We had landed on the shore. I lifted myself form the ground, brushing off the sand. Salt hung in my hair. Great. I looked around, it looked like an island. There was nobody near me. Oh dear, where was Alex? I hope he hadn't floated off. I walked forward, not knowing where I was going and stopped. Someone was lying face first on the sand. I ran towards the girl and shook her.
"Hey are you dead?" I asked and lifted her face before she swallowed any sand. She lifted herself and brushed the sand from her body."Where am I?" she asked.
"I don't know. It looks like some island."
"Are there anymore people here?" she asked.
"I don't know", I said once again.
"Lets go look," she said walking forward. "I'm Mia, by the way."
"Divya" I said quietly.
She looked at me with a quizzical expression. "Unique name," she commented.
"I'm part Indian," I said feeling the urge to defend the name my mom had picked out. Mom. Was she okay? Was she even alive? I felt tears rush to my eyes but swallowed them back.
"Are you okay?" Mia asked,concern written over her face.
"Yeah. Lets go look," I said and walked beside her.
