For my NaNo, I'm hoping I can get some biblical quotes, either about heaven and angels or the devil.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Um.. read the Bible itself? There's far too many to put down here. Try a Concordance? You should be able to find one online.

Here's a link. Select the "King James Version" - it's the best and most accurate one.

Reading the bible makes it too hard. XD If you're wanting to find specific things it's just... ech. looong

I really love this quote, although I'm not sure it will help you? It's just cool and it's on a song I love: Revelation 8:1: "When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, silence covered the sky"
“It's necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.”

If you're going to read the Bible, congrats too, read the Old Testiment. The New bites the bullet, though it is more coherent.

I perfer the Old Testiment because much of the dialect surrounds the era I'm most keen on. So yes, I read it, with coming headaches, for researching purposes only. It, the Old, relates more to the Christian's God, and a Being Below. It's also more vivid. Reading Shakespeare would also be a good primer in understanding the dialect in the Old Testiment.
The sadness drains through me rather than skating over my skin. It travels through every cell to reach the ground. I filter it yet strangely enough, I keep what was pure and it is the dirt that leaves.

Read the Revelations, it's got all the best apocolyptic stuff.
Just a thought.

This is a fairly popular quote:

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;

-Kylan
"I am beginning to despair
and can see only two choices:
either go crazy or turn holy."

- Serenade, Adélia Prado

I'm pretty sure what Kylan just quoted is from Psalm 23.

If you're looking for story-like writing, read the Old Testament. If you want to read about Jesus's life, read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). If you want to know about Christianity and some of its shaping, read St. Paul's writing, like Romans ect.

The book of Job had a lot of good speeches. Corinthians 1, ch. 13 is all about love. The Gospel of John has some really profound, intuitive passages, like the very first chapter.

Those are more places to find quotes, then the actual quotes though. I might post again here later.
Calvin : You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes : What mood is that?
Calvin : Last-minute panic.

I second Winters - Revelations should do the trick singlehandedly.

Read the book of Revelations. Don't try to read the Bible. I'm very slowly slogging my way through it.

Some good stories, however, The Birth of Jesus, Abraham and Sarah, Jacob fighting with an Angel, Peter being released from Prison.

Hope that helps!

You could also try googling "Bible Quotes" - they're often grouped by topic. Example:

Some Bibles also have an index that gives book/chapter/verse locations for various quotes relating to certain topics too, if you're looking for anything specific. Hope that helps :)
Got a poem or short story you want me to critique?

If you're into angel stuff, check out A Dictionary of Angels - and Wikipedia has a biggish section on angelology, too.

The problem with finding angels in the Bible is that only a handful are named, and some of them are only in the Apocrypha.

(They do appear in the New Testament, though: at the very least, Gabriel comes to Mary to tell her that she is pregnant with the Son of God, and I'm fairly sure that he tells Joseph, too, but I'm not 100% sure.)

I hope that helps - and sorry I don't have any verses to quote in particular.

The book of revelations tends to have some of the more strange quotes about the devil and angels, as winters said ^^ I prefer the New International Version, so there's a link to it here, but if you want something with a less modern sound to it, you can take a look at some of the different versions.

The quote I like most is Revelations 12:3-4, "3Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. 4His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth.". It's so surreal ^^
please grant me my small wish; (love me to the marrow of my bones)

A quote about angels or devils? Read Genesis. It describes the fall of Lucifer, Son of the Morning (aka Satan).

Kyte, a lot of people say that Lucifer is not Satan, and that the "how thou art fallen from heaven O! Lucifer, son of the morning!" is misinterpreted to imply that Lucifer is a fallen angel; the verse, supposedly, is talking about the King of Babylon. (source, although that's not the only place I've heard it.)
