When Lord and Lady Grey pass away in a tragic accident, their son Marlon has to leave a promising military career in order to take over running his noble family's floundering estate. His dreams of serving the realm in a heroic capacity seem to be over. However, when he arrives at the Capital to swear fealty to the King, he is given a new mission: protect Miss Adelaide Halefield, a young teenage girl at the center of a feud between noble houses. Her parents, Count Cedic Halefield and Countess Seraphina Blackwell, are both engaged in a bitter divorce and want to use Adelaide as a pawn in a larger feud between houses.

Marlon's house, small as it is and remote in its location, might be the ideal place to hide Adelaide from her parents for a short while. But with the conflict between her parents heating up, Marlon only has a limited time to restore his family's estate, make alliances with the local townsfolk, and increase the defenses to protect his ward. Because eventually, Adelaide's parents will come for her, and when they do, Marlon had better be prepared.

That last sentence!!! 🔥
(tell me there will be a love story between Marlon and Adelaide because this is such a good set up for star crossed lovers/forbidden love) but either way I love this premise and I wish you the best of luck with writing this month!!
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

Oh my goodness, this sounds like such an exciting story! I love the fact that there's a bigger game at play then the one Marlon expects at first! I hope NovMo went well for you and you enjoyed writing for this and pursue the concept further because this is awesome!
