Novmo 25' - Tikaya's "Short" Story

Hi, hello, welcome.

So I've been doing reviews which is fun. Turns out nothing motivates quite like number go up (or number go down, if you count the Green Room). I do be writing something in between.
And I heard you make a post to talk about the progress. So.
Since January, I've been writing a short story (managed 2 chapters so far haha) and my unending perfectionism makes it so hard to get anything done. Been struggling with Ch3 since June, I think. It's my hope for this NovMo that I can at least get this done.

So yes, I'm a NovMo rebel! =D

Since I recently caught a cold I haven't gotten past 11k. I do count all words written in service of the story, including my flounding of "What does that room look like again? Let's describe it to myself in hopes of getting this scene done. Eventually!"

What's the story about?
Technically it's about some Starcraft Wraith pilots but I don't expect anyone to know or care about Starcraft lore. That's why for the purposes of this site, it's just a sci-fi story about space fighter pilots struggling to defend their homeplanet under a hostile senate and a corporate take over

Ah moment of silence for peak narration I have to cut because the scene wasn't working.

A shadow falls onto the tablet as I type in the data from the Wraith.
“Say, are you still stuck on the report form?” Lisa’s leaning against the ship’s hull to get a good look at the screen. “You are! How much more time are you going to waste on that?”
I pointedly save the form and upload it to the server. I also pull up hers, more out of morbid curiosity. “… Lisa.”
She shrugs innocently and answers my stare evenly.
“Lisa, you used Form 1A.”
“Hmhm!”
“That’s for flights less than thirty minutes.”
“And therefore much quicker to fill out!” She beams at me, all teeth.
“It’s the wrong form!” I refrain from burying my face in my hands. Our mechanic has wisely left the vicinity to check how the refuelling is processing.
Lisa shrugs in callous disregard for proper procedure. “So what?”
“We had a five hour mission! There’s no way— You can’t— Ugh.”
