do poets dream of figurative sheep?
oct. 2025

(this poem is a mouth)
and i speak from inside it:
text folds into text
until meaning
creases.

i begin mid-sentence:
-nd the sky was missing,
so i drew its echo.
that’s enough ascent for today,

but
let me describe, again.

i = iterative.

you are finishing my sentence
with your eyes,
which means the poem
has already escaped me.

(you are only legible
when halved)

Too often we crave the extraordinary in life, without even learning how to cherish the ordinary first. Friend, I promise you this: if you can learn to take joy in the simple mundane things in life, the extraordinary will take care of itself, it'll be on its way, hurrying towards you. But if you skip the first part, it'll ever evade you.
