YAYYYYY! You did this last camp nano, right? It looks like you're chugging along!
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
I did, and doing that made me realise I needed a whole overhaul and this new draft was born! I'm mostly done with one pov and have made next to no progress on the other... probably not the best method but here we are!
Some non word count related targets that have come up as I'm rereading what I've got in preparation for April:
- Further develop Alfonso as a character. Why is he so hated? IM or email exchange could go a good way to demonstrate how he and Grace don't get along on another project and give him some more depth.
- Need some more orange flags for Fletcher. We need to question if he's right for Grace or not. Why does he like her if he's never been into relationships before?
- Olivia has a great amount of coverage in the first arc but then kind of drops out of the world. She's my favourite and I need to bring her back!
- Emily also needs more build up. Even if it's just a reference or two in earlier chapters. Chapter 17 cannot be the first time they meet.
DAY 1 Words written: 500 Month total:500 Manuscript total:44500 One line? Despite lengthy conversations about whether the opening is attention grabbing enough and whether a certain character’s development and subsequent redemption is actually realistic, she’s easily the most accomplished writer I’ve ever worked with
DAY 2 Words written: 513 Month total:1013 Manuscript total:45013 One line? Nunez’s arm is still outstretched but when it becomes clear no-one is going to shake it he retracts it and offers a winning smile instead. I hide a laugh in a cough that’s fooling nobody.
DAY 3 Words written: 487 Month total:1500 Manuscript total:45500 One line? I don’t know that Ray’s too fond of that fact, but he doesn’t say much about it. The bookshop used to be owned by him and his husband Tomasz and I guess he never thought he’d be doing it alone. He’d be content to simply collect books and never make a decision about the business if he could.
Today's word count was a happy accident and we're back to round numbers!
