She wanted to rage. How did he always do this? Always. How was she somehow the one in the wrong here, even though she hadn’t done anything but have perfectly justifiable feelings? And ones that she kept to herself no less. “…I’m just glad you’re feeling better.”

Gaius dipped his head. "Thank you. You seem to be doing a little better as well; you're out and about st least."

She felt herself prickle. He was pushing it. Trying to bait her so that she really would look like the asshole here that was lashing out for no reason, even know he knew damn well what he was doing. They both did. “Mm.”

“Yeah?” Ky agreed hesitantly, instantly guarded. Who had he heard that from? She glanced at Tomhas, but then quickly dismissed the idea. He was the one who had said not to tell Gaius after all. Emery, then. She looked at him suspiciously. An even bigger rat than she’d thought, then.

Gaius nodded, also looking toward Tomhas. "An unorthodox bonding activity, certainly, but it's good they're getting some foot traffic again."

Her gaze snapped back to Gaius and then to Tomhas and her brow furrowed, confused. And also annoyed. He’d pretended that that was their secret. But no. Theirs plus Gaius. Gaius always had to be in the middle of everything. Because of course he did. So much for not telling him. “It was… very interesting.”

"May I ask which rooms you visited?" Tomhas gave Ky a guilty look and then fixed his eyes down on his plate.

Ky frowned at him even though he wasn’t looking at her anymore. How was he really going to throw her into a situation like this and then not help? She looked back at Gaius. “Um… we went to see the bunker.”

"Oh." He tried not to show his disappointment. "An interesting set of rooms. Lots of history there."

Ky squinted at him slightly, catching it. “Where would you recommend?” He was going to recommend the corpse, wasn’t he? She’d put money on it.

“Anything.” She shrugged. “Open to all recommendations.” Except the corpse. “Where’s your favorite room?” She glanced at Tomhas, then back at Gaius. She had the feeling that their father daughter bonding was permanently over. At least in terms of the tunnels.

He thought for a moment. "Call it morbid but I quite enjoy the catacombs. But in terms of less eerie places, I would recommend the brewery or the Painted Room."
