(I'm so sorry; that's really really hard. Hopefully y'all are able to work it out.)
"Same to you." He dipped his head. "Best of luck."

(Thank you <33) (I had to make a drive today in the Midwest and kept seeing “trust Jesus” signs and it’s like why wouldn’t want to fuck with him he just stole my best friend lol)
Rana nodded to him and stood up, then turned and started to stride away.

Tomhas had drifted in and out of his room over the past few weeks, eating little and saying even less. He'd ignored attempts by his brother and his sister in-law to talk to him, and even Sera couldn't get beyond a few monosyllabic words. He was losing weight and he hadn't shaved in awhile; he was beginning to look more like a hermit than a Lord, with a scraggly reddish-brown beard and his unkempt hair. Most of the time out of his room was spent deep in the back of the library or in one of the less-frequented parlors.

Ky was getting progressively more and more concerned about him and feeling ever guiltier. But she was determined to get through to him. So she managed to track him down in the parlor, poking her head in cautiously. “…Hey?”

Tomhas was sitting on the couch, gazing at the unlit fireplace without expression. At the sound of her voice, he turned almost mechanically. "Hey," he said softly. He seemed to be looking through her.

“…Can I come in?” She barely resisted the urge to glance behind herself. “Please?”

"Yeah." He nodded, and turned back to the fireplace.

She came in and closed the door behind herself. “What are you up to?” She approached him slowly.

“Ah.” She sat down next to him, shoulder brushing his. Anxiety welled up in her gut. He didn’t seem to want her here.

He gave no reaction, wringing his hands absently. His eyes looked empty; his wasted face bore an uncomfortable resemblance to Gaius's.
