It took me a while to realize that you're nowhere close to what I'm looking for
And it took me even longer to work up the courage to shut that door
I don't know how I never realized that you're such a jerk
I honestly don't know why I thought that we'd work

You wouldn't accept it,
That I was finally ready to go
And I'd like to say something
That you should really know

When I see you in pain
All my troubles go away
My frown begins to fade
I let out a grin and when I see your tears,
My smile- it isn't fake

I can't figure out for my life what I ever saw in you
I'm so ecstatic now that we're through
I have no idea why I listened to my heart and not my head
Why I excused every wrong thing that you've said

This is the first time in so long
(Since you've been here)
That i've felt so strong
Since I've been with you it's been such a while
(So much time has elapsed)
Since I've had a genuine smile
And now it's back
