April, here I come!

Thirty days.

All of April.

One poem a day.

This should get interesting...
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #1

My heart breaks
each time I see your face.
The damage done
that can never be taken back.
Even if I wanted to
I know it must be this way,
because I don't want it to be
that empty love.
Long and forgotten are those
false smiles
and lost affections.

The forlorn look in your eye
makes me sink to my knees in grief
and can cause me to cry.
It's because I know
the pain in you,
that emptiness
your feeling too.

My heart aches and races
each time his hand brushes my skin.
They're not your hands;
I don't react to your touch.
His golden locks
and emerald eyes
stole my heart away.
Now is the time
where my joy must fall
and my heart must pay.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #2

Taking to the sky

Shines and glitters in the night

Fairies fly on by
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

A haiku! I love it. I always find those hard, because you have to say so much in so little words, but you laid out the scene and it's so pretty. And I like the first one, too, because it's so vulnerable and honest. Especially the last stanza. I like it.

Poem #3

Day breaks from the darkest shade to the brightest light,

And brings with it cover from its eternal night.

The fallen ash of burning loved ones

Falls at your feet.

The stench of lost souls

Is the first one to greet.

Wails of dying children and tortured many

Is all but forgotten when the weather turns sunny.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #4

Silent children have no voice,

They're taken from love without a choice.

Tiny infants cannot speak,

No words of their future are so bleak.

Penniless paupers have not a word,

About anything or what they've heard.

So why is it that this is okay,

When there are so many innocents with nothing to say?
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #5

There once was a girl named Meg,

Who accidently broke her leg.

She slipped on the ice,

Not once, but twice.

Take no pity on her, I beg.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

*I have a lot of catching-up to do, but I can still do it! :D*

Poem #6

Dark thoughts fill the void after loss,
the worst sin of all.
That person was done grieving,
they were ready for that fall.

Eyes gleaming wet soak the pillow,
eternal stains of the heart.
The cause for the suffering
is that love was its start.

She left him broken,
mangled, damaged and abused.
After she was done toying with him
he had felt more than used.

Those fears unspoken by him
proved the fatal mistake.
After the dagger was drawn from her twisted heart,
There was no more pain for his heart to break.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #7

Dreams and Nightmares

Elusive memories slip from your grasp,
those golden moments of wonder.
They are substantial for few seconds
then leave with no goodbye.

The thoughts resurface
coming from the darkest depths of your mind,
where evil lingers everywhere.

An onslaught of visions
Terrifying, beautiful, frightening, wondrous;
You can't bring yourself to look away.

The monsters from your childhood
aren't as fictitious as you think.
They come for blood
and will settle for no less.

But your heart may ease as that vision slips away,
and is replaced by a bright and sunny day.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #8

A Stolen Love

Stolen love is not the best,
nor is it worth the price,
but it shall suffice.

Stolen moments with another
are not as treasured as its faux,
though no one will know.

Your lover lies by his side
in grief of what was taken,
his heart is more than shaken.

Wails are not heard;
He screams out crying
there's no denying that he's dying.

How can you watch
as those around you perish
lives you will never come to cherish?
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #9

Remembrance

Love seems to sidle by me,
it never wants to touch
and though it was a passing glance
I want it oh so much.

It sings to me when my eyes are closed
and when they're open, too.
That sweetest thing called love, dear
is something that I once knew.

It was almost forgotten long ago,
since I can't seem to remember,
when snow was covering the ground
on that cold day in December.

Ah, we were young, naive;
the day when snowflakes fell.
It was the first time in a while
that he had stopped to wish me well.

But as he lingered my urge grew,
a feeling that was hard to miss.
As he leaned forward on his toes,
I experienced my first glorious kiss.

It was like flying,
but no, maybe more.
It was so hard to stop
when our feet touched the floor.

We never said "I love you",
though the feeling was always there.
It was that silent feeling deep within
that we knew we would always share.

Now I am old and withering,
an old woman who remembers the days;
when I was the one who was just like you,
a girl in the sunshine where love would stay.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Hi Selene! Kat's here- as requested :D

So, lovely poems dear. I absolutely adore them.
Now, for nit-picks:
The thoughts resurface
coming from the darkest depths of your mind,
where evil lingers everywhere.

Try to add more syllables in the first line, because it messed the flow a little bit. And do the same on the first line of the next stanza.

But your heart may ease as that vision slips away,
and is replaced by a bright and sunny day.

These are too long too. Break them down.

That's all I have to say, dear! Again, lovely ;)

Poem #10

Betrayal

Stay away from me, please
Before I hurt you more.
It's not like I take pleasure
In those saddened eyes of yours.

Keep away from me, please,
I don't want to see your face
while I'm with another lover.

I betrayed your love, so stay away
For the pain to stop, there is no other way.
Stop your gasps and cries, I can't stand it;
Save them for another day.

You were not my once-lover,
Don't you understand?
Those times have passed.
Now I must walk away, since you will not
With my real love and I, hand-in-hand.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.

Poem #11

The Witch's Price

Heat from your warm touch lingers
it's soaked into my skin.
Your radiance will win,
it glows through your fingers.

A smile was all that was needed
to sweep my heart away.
The love and kindness to this day
was pure bliss with warnings not heeded.

"We cannot be together," I said.
He tried his best not to listen
but there were many tears that would glisten.
"Love, my heart will soon be dead."

The witches had come and had named their price,
One that was too high to be kind.
There had to be another way, one I could find.
So what were the requirements this would entice?

My love, oh my poor tormented soul.
The price was that I could not wed,
My heart would be stabbed until it bled.
But rather that and keep me whole.

The other option was for my lover to die,
that would be horrid, a thought not dared tried.
I would much rather not be the bride,
than to have to say good-bye.

I would go on in life, there was no doubt;
he would have life, so that brought me joy,
though I would never hold that sweet baby boy.
My heart would find a different route.

The memory that I shall take and capture,
will not be death, nor strife,
it will not be something I could never be, your wife.
Instead I shall take with me your love,
because that alone was rapture.

Poem #12

Gold and silver is what I taste
on your lips.
It's a subtle flavor, but it shows
that you are not the man I thought you were.

Is this why you brought me here,
where you could show off?
How could you think me such a fool
when your timing was so lost?

My lip will not quiver
your resilience will wither
and then the open silence is yours.
But until that day you shall bow before me
and not be bound by your own law.

I grow tired of your struggle,
so give in, why don't you?
The ropes that bind you
will never give way.
Your stuck in the rut
where your soul will forever stay.
Got YWS?

You judge others upon their actions, but you judge yourself by your intention.
