The lower barn was cobwebs on straw on cobwebs on beams,
and on the days it wasn't that it was jars on shelves upon shelves
and that little chunk of wood that always caught your hip.
And when it was cleaning day it was straw on dirt on flagstones
and hours lost to the hose and soggy boots.
But today it was the one eyed cat's back arched
It was dread on fear on that thing lingering just out of sight.
