Ode To Love

My broken Love, you inspire me to write.
I detest the way you Dance, Hide and sing,
Invading my mind through the day and night,
Always dreaming about the dark heartstrings.

Let me juxtapose you to my malice?
You are more hurtful, crazy and renewed.
Stark frost nips the robins of December,
And wintertime has the shrewd aptitude.

How do I hate you? Let me count the ways.
I hate your scarlett Heart, Voice and moonlight.
Thinking of your songless Voice fills my days.
My hate for you is the spoken hindsight.

Every Word

Every song radiates through my head
Like an explosion rocketing in a mushroom cloud
Dispersing like fungi uprooted and thrown down
And every time I sing a hush settles over me
Silencing my moonlit words that twinkle like diamonds in the sky
But spiral faster than falling stars
Glimmering flashes of light descending in every direction
And I always seem to watch as they disappear
And burn out
Until they land inked on a page
Written like a story of love
And darkness and courage
Just a beautiful show of falling stars
Entertwined with my heart

Peace Within The Storm

The voice inside still berates me
The birds still fly outside
Lightning strikes the plain
Farmers cry for the rain

The swirling chaos of everything
The abysmal peace of life
Because Hell is empty and the devils walk among us
The wind roars back to life

Antelope run through the swaying grass
Anthills are blown away over time
Until everything is quiet and nothing tears loose
People shriek in fear

Thunder claps
The rain storms
The old man snores
The alarm doesn't go off in the morning

The Emptiness Of Life

When everything is hollow
Like a tree blown over
And weathered inside
My words still resound
Like butterflies hopping from buttercup to buttercup
But the sound of my voice is empty
The beating of my heart
Still pulsates in my ears
Every bang like a machine's shriek
And though I look again
I can't keep my eyes
On the blurred lines of reality

And though it sounds insane
I'll never stop again
Because with you in my heart I'll never give up
The legacy of war
The boom of battle still hurts
The sniper like a leopard hunting in the darkness
But the only thing I see is the image of a friend lost to love
Eyes rolled up in his head
And a bullethole in his forehead
A trickle of falling blood still drips
And I seem to wonder
When everything is so hollow
Why the memory can't become empty as well

Passing Ages

I
Watch
The age
Of mankind
Slowly disappear
Into the glittering twinkle
Of inky black pools circling the night sky wildly

A Mouse In The House

A mouse crept silently through the house
Small padded footsteps echoing across the carpeted house
Its pink tail playfully wriggled through the air
Whiskers twitching as it smelled the air
Scampering further and further from the polished front door
Finding a fancily fashioned room
Little claws gripping onto a beaded red fabric
Climbing like a mountaineer with only a pick and boots
The breeze from the top of the mountain strong enough to blow it away
So it climbed down in preparation of its daily feasting
Scurrying across the kitchen floor
Until a loud thud sounded and although it struggled it stayed put
And the coy copper cat crawled courageously toward the creature
Giant claws like butcher knives
Open maw big enough to swallow it whole
Taunted as the cat licked its glimmering grey growth of hair
Tightening its tail till it snapped off with a thwack
And appetizied it
The tailless tom
Crying in crops
As it descended the stairs
And jumbled jauntingy
Down the deck
Running
Screaming from the
Coy copper cat
With its butcher knife claws
And maw as wide as it

Get Up

I stumble
Fall down
Push myself back onto my haunches
Guiltily surrendering to nothing
Because I'm unstoppable
And no matter how hard I fall
No matter how much it hurts
You can get up
And carry on
Because you are yet to stumble many times more
But your character is decided when you get up again
Not when you fall

Together

Only you and I
Will remember every time
I slept a dark day
Because I was too tired
To move a single muscle

Only you and I
Will forget the cloudy days
When I cried to sleep
In grief and pain for those
Lost upon our moonlit ways

Greed

A butterfly flutters out
And slowly uncurls
Its proboscis in search of
Golden nectar and sweet drinks

Every Day Of My Life

Forever
Forever
Forever
The world seems
Perfect the way it is
Forever
Forever
Forever
Till the dawn
Calls me out
Like a birdsong soft and stout
The word calls me back
To shout
Forever
Forever
Forever will we be
Together forever
And my heart rings true
Forever
Forever
Forever, it always is

Dishonour Me

The hotshot steams with
Gold and riches of an
Unfinished battle
Paddling ashore to spend
The wealth of his victory

You Are The One

It doesn't matter who you are
A child
An adult
A grandparent even
You still have so much left to explore
So much left to see
With only your two circle eyes
Every path sends you down the road of life
But it's where you end up that counts
Because you will pass through
The Forest of Uncertainty
Drench your legs in the Bogs of Discomfort
Be taunted by the Alley of Evil
Cry as you pass the overflowing Fountain of Grief
It's not where you stumble and trip
But where you get up and carry on
And where you lie down and choose to stay
Because every path leads the same way
And only you can decide where you'll end up

Winners

A stallion races
Hooves digging into the earth with each planted trot
Mane wavering as black as midnight
Nostrils flaring and sucking in air

Nudging the mare softly and carrying on
Running to the horizon
Somewhere far past sunrise
Where no one has ever been

Still racing the coastline for the end of the Earth
Where it will learn to fly
Like a pegasus of old
Awaiting in a stable in the sky

Heart fluttering
As the trodding rhythm of hooved
Beats the speed of sound
And circles forever through the night

Erupting in an explosion of light
Like the death of a star
And the beginning of a thousand more
That it will beat in its race to the universe's warping walls

Still going further
And faster like a bullet train that never stops
Galloping through the foam
Of time itself

But leaving everything behind
Its mare dead of childbirth
The filly starved
Never having tasted the dewy stalks of grass

Every horse broken
Like shattering windows
As it rips apart the fabric
Of everything and nothing

Just in its race to win
Its self-indulgent pride
Of its long-dead partner
And starved filly with its young legs too long

Don't Die On Me

This colder season
The Sun’s still shining in the corners
Every gleam still makes me smile
Amazed by the eternal flame

Heart pounding like a stone thrown on the ground
This rainy season
The world’s still a misty haze
Of wet curtains and sheets
Banging on the old iron roof

This snowy season
I cry under the midnight sky
Freezing as I’m slowly blanketed in snowflakes
That shimmer icily on my skin
Specks of ice watering down my eyelashes
As I stare at the moonlit sky

Scream because it hurts
Because it always does
Boil your skin till you can feel the burn again
Till the numbness erodes
Like a mountain weathers over time
Body falling off its side
As the light reappears in your eyes

When It Walks

The surface squirms
As it moves through the water
The black heart of malevolence
Killing its brother
Fish swim away
And squirm and wriggle
Hearts dripping blood as they freeze
And start floating
Through the silty current
A storm of heartbroken flashing seashells
Exploding and they fall forever
Down into the darkest depths
Eyes still firm and undisturbed
Still staring at the salty seas
And the beachy bottom
Of All Hallow's Downwater
