Yin And Yang

A wolf shrieks under the stars
Glistening like black pools
As they circle around the dark white pool of the Moon
Like koi in the fish pond of the night
The water of the sky bouncing in rings

Young

The night starts quiet
Then the bats come out
Parading the sky
Like a carnival of winged rodents

Every predator slowly exercises
Sore limbs and aching muscles
Yawning as it readies
For the thrill of the evening's hunt

Leaves rustling
As a breeze
Stalks a child's window
Like a woman moaning in misery

Doors banging
As the rain
Showers down
In puddles of dusty water that drifts away

One stray hair plaited against my forehead
As I change
Unaware of the elephant in the room
The creeping, scratching, screaming puppy

Fair And Square

A square
Flows Into a rectangle
That divides into triangles
And rounds off into circles

Slowly building up a cylinder
With love
Drawing only the curvature
Of circumference and diameter

Exploding with the tall lines
Of a cuboid
Stretching high into the clouds
Somewhere far beyond the clouds

Triangles
Pointing out the direction
To the pyramids
As old as time itself

Tools clinking away to shape
But the spaces only click together
To create a dimension
Not even our brains can comprehend

How It All Began

Dear Joan

Today wasn't too bad,
it was quite okay. I'm glad
to hear
that you are finally past that silly fear.

Do you still remember when I slept with the light on,
your sleepless eyelids sagging heavily like a ton
of bricks falling?
Do you still remember when we went balling
and you finally told me you
weren't John, you
were Joan? My best friend who loved dresses.
My best friend who cleaned up all her brother's messes.
Do you still remember the day when you put lipstick on me?
Do you still remember how I just wanted it to stay that way forever, for that to be
the real me?
Do you still remember how you set me free
when you made me try on your bra? Do you remember how it
changed my life to sit
like a proper lady?

Thank you for everything you've done.
Thank you for all the fun.
Enjoy your life, I'll be fighting
for it every day and I sincerely hope you'll be praying.

Adri

Plastic Scream

The sound rattles me
Like a heart screaming quietly
Upon the plastic screen

Sunrays

The grass sways slowly
Across the glimmering lake
And birds flit through it

So We May Once Again

Conquer the evil
Of this slim and narrow path
To gain once again
The simple treasures of love
Gifted to me upon a breath

I Want To Know

I feel loud and much too spoken
I feel every dress I wear fits me wrong
I know my smile is yellow and skew
And I want to know
How can I ever love myself
Just a reflection of every imperfection
Just a ghost of a smiling girl
Wishing I knew
How to find the tarred road
Hoping next time I'll take the straight path
And stop despairing because my hair seems messy
That I'll brush it and pull it back
Tie it up like a prisoner so it falls not flows
Knowing I want to let it loose
So it can run through the cold of night
As the Moon shimmers and dogs howl
Their last instinct galloping wildly
And I want to know
How can I ever love myself
If every single word I say seems so wrong
If every voice in my head insults me
And even the bed kicks me out
Onto the cold wooden floor
Cloudburst as I stop to look around
Wishing I knew
How to find the tarred road

Your Prayer

Like the beginning of the end
And the end of the beginning
My head circles back and forth
Stuck in wanderlust thought

Trodding down hidden paths
That go nowhere
Smelling flowers sweet and bright
As I walk through fields of hyacinths

Fingers tucking a petal in one pocket
To remember your soul by
Passing slowly through the flowerless yards
In anxiety of every corner

So I cry out your name
Hoping you will protect me
But it just seems to hurt more
When I remember my last prayer

Mom

Morning always seems brighter somewhere
Over a rainbow where I snuggle with you, the love in your eyes
Mentally hugging, filling me warmth

Mother

Mom, I love you with all my heart, I would love you
Over every raindrop that falls like a salty
Tear from the thunderheads, Mom, every
Hour of
Every day is better because of you
Red is the colour, my hearts beat quickly at your sight

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday, Mom

I love you with all my heart.
At the start
And the end of the day
You have always pressured me the right way,
Directed me to the right turn
Because of your never ending love and concern.

Mom, I have never met another person like you.
You are one of those few
Amazing people that understand me.
That know who I want to be.
I could not say it more sincerely. I love you, Mom.
Above everything in this world. You are magical, calm,
always ready. Your brain is brilliant and well crafted.
One of God's few masterpieces, metered
Exactly to be like you. The perfect you.
And I couldn't imagine a day without you. The perfect you.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday. You deserve it.

Currents

Love is not something
You just get
Love is something you lose
A substance worth more than gold
Nobody can stop it as it slowly crumbles away

But those that slowly grow are masters of the art
Those filled with a bursting heart
Full of kindness and happiness
To them love is like a gumdrop

Love is pink
Love is red
Love is blue
Love is purple

Love is a rainbow of colours shimmering like sapphires in the sunlight
True love is more precious than the rarest gem
More expensive than the best spice
More exorbitant than a palace

Love is like a castle made of heart-shaped walls
Painted in every single shade of love
Adorningly cradling you
As you walk through its majestic halls

Love is like birds and bees flying in the wind
Catching the pollen as it is blown away in grainy currents
Of pure love and loss
Of the sweetest liquid that will ever flow in a stream

Love is like a mother hugging her child
Caring for her every day of their life
So that one day
She will wake up and know their dearest loves her too

Some Days

There are those days when the world seems cold
When the house feels desolate
And I feel alone
But always an icy pair of eyes drilling holes into me

There are those days when the world seems great
But one shocking pain
Ruins it
But somehow you will only remember that feeling of pain

There are those days when my smile stays limp
Hung skew and bruised
As they scream
At me like a dog wagging its tail, reprimanded for losing its collar

There are those days when the world is warm
When joy spreads like an infecitious
Disease
And every heart is hugged by a mother's delicate hands
