Welcome to the LGBT Awareness Contest!

The aim is to raise awareness for the Trans/non-binary community by challenging you to consider things from the point of view of someone who falls outside of what is considered the general norm of gender identity.

Your task:

To write a piece including the perspective of such an individual, and to consider the ways that these issues would effect them.

You can do this in the form of a diary entry, short story, or poetry.

Prizes up for grabs:

1st place: 3500

2nd place: 2500

3rd place: 1500

As well as:

A feature in Squills.

A review on every piece submitted.

In the event that there is a lack of submissions, the relevant prizes will still be given to those who have entered.

Submission Guidelines:

Post your work in the forums and then stick the link below.

You're free to edit your work as much as you want until the final deadline.

We're going to cap this one at a 16+ maximum.

No
gore or graphic sex scenes

No particularly heinous hate crimes

If your work contains issues of extreme prejudice, violence or self harm, remember to include a "Sensitive topic" or "Contains:" warning in your description.

Help?

If you're not sure on what Trans or Non-binary gender is, or have any questions about the technicalities, you can check out the Q&A thread here.

Judging Criteria

There is no right or wrong way of looking at things, everybody is different. That's why we're looking for unique characters and interesting perspectives on themselves and the world around them.

Deadline is February 17th

Do we submit our pieces here? I suppose I'll take a stab. I shall not win, but hey. Why not try?

I may enter this. I'll see if I have the time to write something.
