Here, you can find links to writing contests, publication opportunities, and writing scholarships (hereinafter "contests") outside of YWS.

If you know of an existing contest but it’s not mentioned in the forum, feel free to make a topic about it and let others know about it as well!

Before You Post:

- Make sure that the contest is legitimate. If you’re unsure about this, contact a GM.
- Keep in mind that we're the Young Writers Society. Post only about contests that the YWS members can enter (most of the userbase is from 13 to 25).
- In your post, please provide:

1. The name and organiser of the contest (eg. Writer's Digest). Please put this as the title of your post!
2. A few lines on the contest (who can enter? deadline? what to submit?)
3. A link to the contest website.

Please contact a GM if you come across a suspicious-looking link/contest.

Good luck! :)

I'm looking to find some great magazines or journals to publish my poetry. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd also like to ask if anyone knows of any writing contests or scholarships I can apply for as well.
Thank you

Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.
