This is annoying me.

Since I saw "Young Writers Society" I have been pondering on where on Earth the apostrophe goes!

I was looking for some old posts for the answer, and I saw that Nate had put (in 2006!) it was grammatically incorrect because Society denotes a group, and it is not owned by the Young Writers.

But... it is a society for young writers, and a society of young writers so... where?

I bet someone will post here having a go at and give me some four-page formula (... or not) but randomness, eh? :-D

The correct one is, "Young Writers' Society" The apostrophe goes after the S, because, it is plural, but it's referring to more than one writer. The site wouldn't be nearly as big if it had one writer. :wink:

As the notifications drift in I stop and wonder. Why do they take so long? Do they have adventures we don't know about? I bet they do. When they come I will ask myself. What amazing adventure has this straggling notification been on? How far did it travel, and why didn't it take me?
