The title says it all. I'm relatively new here, so I've never had the inclination to do it until now. Can somehow explain to me how it's done?
Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

the contest tends to provides that information? Read it, and if it doesn't say so, you can always ask right there. Usually it's done by pming the work in question to the person holding the contest...

When someone runs a contest on the site, they usually have all of the information in the first post! I suggest you go back to the contest thread and reread the first post. Usually, you post the link to your work in the contest thread so the judge(s) can evaluate it. :)

If that doesn't help, PM the person who started the contest and they'll help you out!

I was flummoxed by fractious Franny's decision to abrogate analgesics for the moribund victims of the recent conflagration. Of course, to display histrionics was discretionary, but I did so anyways, implicating a friend in my drama to make the effect cumulative. I think a misanthrope would have a prosaic appellation, perhaps one related to autonomy and the rejection of anthropocentrism. I think they wouldn't think much of the prominence of watching the coagulation of tea to prognosticate future malevolent events, not even if those events were related to jurisprudence.
