Nephthys says...

PART 4

Spoiler! :
EXT. TANGIN MANOR GARDENS - DAY.

THE DOCTOR, VANCE and EUDORA run into the gardens. Eudora and Vance are extremely out of breath.

EUDORA
(In between breaths)
You're not a priest, are you?

THE DOCTOR
Not exactly, no.
(Beat. Eudora and Vance breathe heavily)
But I was ordained into the Brotherhood of the
Silent Fox on the planet Raxicoricofallapatorius, so the ceremony
was still technically legal.
(Beat. He grins.)
I'm The Doctor.

Eudora and Vance pant for a few more minutes. Eudora has an idea.

EUDORA
But if you're not actually a priest, then what happened
to the real priest?

CUT TO:

FLASHBACK: OUTSIDE THE TANGIN ESTATE. DAY.

Blackout. The screen shows the words "two hours earlier".

FLASHBACK: A car pulls up at the Manor's gates. There is a sign; TANGIN MANOR. A PRIEST gets out- he is very old.

The camera, from a MYSTERY PERSON's POV crosses the lawn to meet the priest. They talk, though we can only hear the Priest's side of the conversation.

The hands of the Mystery Person appear at the bottom of the screen, and hand the priest a wrapped present. The Priest accepts it.

PRIEST
Thank you, how lovely. And when does the ceremony start?

They go across the lawn, and Mystery Person shows the priest a room.

PRIEST
I'll just wait here until two, then.

The Mystery Person leaves, shutting the door.

The Priest opens the gift. It is a bottle of Fun Punch. He smiles, and begins to drink it.
CUT TO:

FLASHBACK: OUTSIDE THE TANGIN ESTATE - DAY

The Mystery Person makes their way across the lawn, muttering under their breath.

MYSTERY PERSON

For you, my Angel. Anything for you.

CUT TO:

FLASHBACK: A STUDY IN THE MANOR - DAY

The Priest drinks the Fun Punch. He smiles, then begins to laugh.

Suddenly- a Time Fly comes out from behind a chair and latches onto him!
It sucks out his (very little) remaining time and he falls to the floor.

CUT TO:

EXT. TANGIN MANOR GARDENS. DAY.
,

Back to VANCE, EUDORA, and THE DOCTOR. Vance and Eudora have almost caught their breath.

VANCE
Well? What are we supposed to do now?

THE DOCTOR
I hadn't actually planned that far ahead.
(Beat)
Eudora, I need you to think very carefully: where did the
Time Flies come from?

EUDORA
How should I know?

THE DOCTOR
(Impatient)
What direction?

VANCE
The cellar- they were all coming from the west hallway,
which leads from the cellar.

THE DOCTOR

Good. If we know how they got in, that might help us locate
whoever -or whatever- is helping them.

EUDORA
They couldn't have come from the cellar! The only way into the
cellar is the west hallway, and the only way out of the west
hallway is through this hall. There's been wedding planners
in and out of here all week; I think they'd notice a giant colony
of mechanical flies.

VANCE
But I'm certain that they came from the cellar. Unless...

THE DOCTOR
Unless they've been down there for quite some time. Eudora,
how old is this house?

EUDORA

It was built in 1697 by the First Lord Tangin, my great-great-great-

The Doctor holds up a hand to shut her up.
THE DOCTOR
Then those things could have been living down there for...
three hundred years.

EUDORA
Doctor, that's impossible! I think I'd notice if there were an
army of mechanical bugs ticking around in my basement.

VANCE
I agree with Eudora. I'm sure
(pause- not Eudora, she's too self absorbed)
someone would have noticed.

THE DOCTOR

Maybe not. It's amazing the stuff that you lot miss that
goes on right under your nose. Come on!

The Doctor runs off. Eudora and Vance look at each other, confused and then follow.
CUT TO:

INT. TANGIN MANOR BASEMENT - DAY

THE DOCTOR, VANCE and EUDORA creep down a hallway. The Doctor brandishes his screwdriver, and Vance is armed with a torch. They expect Time Flies around every corner.

VANCE
Remind me again why we're sneaking into a basement that we have good
reason to believe is infested with Time Flies?

THE DOCTOR
(Annoyed at being asked such a stupid question)
If we went up there, we'd be in the same predicament they're all in, and
we'd be of absolutely no use to anyone. They'll be fine - if we hurry. In
any case, the Time Flies can't kill them- they'll just age a few years.

EUDORA
But how is this of use to anyone? How do we know we can even
trust you?

THE DOCTOR
(Another stupid question!)
Fine! Don't trust me. Don't trust me, and go up there. See what happens
to you. Listen; I'm the only one that can help to save your family. So
either you shut up and help me with this, or you condemn them to die.
(Beat. He's cheery again. Eudora drops the attitude.)
Now, how many rooms are in the basement?

VANCE
Just the one. The others were all boarded up long before I was hired here...

The Doctor has already run up to the locked doors lining the walls, and sonicked each one them individually. He gets nothing. Vance takes a turn hitting the doors.

CUT TO:

INT. TANGIN MANOR BASEMENT. DAY.

VANCE and THE DOCTOR lean against the wall, defeated.
THE DOCTOR
It doesn't make sense - if the Time Flies have been down here for
hundreds of years, they can't have just been lying on a heap on
the floor. They must have been hiding somewhere.

Vance is frustrated. He sighs and kicks the ground. There is a hollow booming noise.

THE DOCTOR
Wait a minute. Do that again.

VANCE
What? Sigh?

THE DOCTOR
No! The other thing.

The Doctor gets on the floor and taps it. The booming noise again. Aha! He searches in between the stones until he finds a loose one. He prys it up- underneath is a lever. He gestures to Vance, who then pulls it.

The wall scrapes open; revealing a secret passageway.

The Doctor is thrilled.

THE DOCTOR
Brace yourselves.

VANCE
What's behind that door?

THE DOCTOR

(grinning)
I have absolutely no idea.

The Doctor heads into the passageway.

CUT TO:

INT. SECRET BASEMENT PASSAGEWAY - DAY

VANCE and THE DOCTOR make their way along the dimly lit passageway. The Doctor holds the sonic screwdriver up to the walls to shine light on what appear to be drawings.
THE DOCTOR
(awed)
What do we have here?

VANCE

Writing. It's old English runes.

THE DOCTOR
How did you know that?

VANCE
I have a BA in Linguistics from Durham.

THE DOCTOR

Well, what's BA in linguistics doing working for her royal highness then?

VANCE
My mum was a friend of the late Lord Tangin, and I needed the money...

Vance is about to launch off on a rant.

The Doctor has already lost interest. He holds up a finger.

THE DOCTOR
Shh! Do you hear that?....

VANCE

It's... buzzing!

A TIME FLY buzzes towards them, ready to attack!

THEN - It's shot down, hits the wall of the tunnel, sizzling. Vance and The Doctor turn around to see what happened.

EUDORA stands behind them on the steps, epically. She holds a giant plastic water gun, and pumps it a couple of times.
VANCE
What. Is that?

EUDORA
Two parts water, one part honey.
(beat)
You can catch more flies with honey...

THE DOCTOR
But, but- that actually is just a saying...

VANCE
Apparently not.

THE DOCTOR

It must have short circuited the Time Fly - that was genius!

Eudora looks very pleased.
VANCE
So that's all we have to do then! Go upstairs and pour honey-water
on all the flies to make them explode?

THE DOCTOR
Not unless you want to kill all the humans as well. They'll be
electrocuted. No, what we have to do is figure out what it says
on these walls. I think it's a story... about... do either of you
know an Augustus?

EUDORA

(Still very pleased with herself for saving them)
Augustus Holland, the first Lord Tangin. He built this house
in 1697, for his wife-

Vance rolls his eyes- Eudora's getting started on her tour guide spiel.

THE DOCTOR
Why didn't I see it before? The Time Flies have been down here
for hundreds of years, but they weren't just hibernating,
they were banished!

VANCE
How come you can read that?

THE DOCTOR
It's a Timelord thing. I'm good at languages. And, well, everything else really.

VANCE
A what?

THE DOCTOR
(Irritably)
Never mind, we haven't got time for that now. It says here that the Time
Flies came in the year 1708 to Tangin Manor, and sucked the life out of
its inhabitants.

CUT TO:

FLASHBACK: INT. TANGIN MANOR, 1708 - DAY

The Doctor remembers the portrait of Augustus Tangin from the gallery. Zoom in through it- back to 1708.

The screen shows the words "305 years earlier".

TIME FLIES have descended on the Manor! AUGUSTUS beats the Time Fly attached to his WIFE with a stick, but it will not come loose.

Beside him, another Time Fly is attached to his SERVANT. It suddenly explodes.

CUT TO:

INT. SECRET PASSAGEWAY, 2013 - DAY

THE DOCTOR
Maybe they were new flies - they must have been new - so they
didn't know what would happen if they didn't have someone
there to remove the capsule. So...

The Doctor continues reading for a second. Aha!

THE DOCTOR (CON'T)
That's where your good old uncle Augustus comes in.

CUT TO:

FLASHBACK: INT. TANGIN MANOR, 1708.

We zoom in through the portrait again. AUGUSTUS is negotiating with the TIME FLIES. He cuts his finger, and touches one of the flies.

THE DOCTOR (V.O.)
He makes a deal with the time flies - that if he removes the
capsule, they will sleep and never wake until... hmm, now
what would that be in your earth English...

THE DOCTOR
Until the last of my descendants have perished from this earth.

AUGUSTUS
(At the same time as THE DOCTOR)
Until the last of my descendants have perished from this earth.

CUT TO:

INT. SECRET PASSAGEWAY, 2013

Zoom back out through the picture. EUDORA and VANCE are staring at THE DOCTOR.

The Doctor looks at Eudora, and grins.

THE DOCTOR

Come on, Eudora Holland; let's go save your family.

Hey, Azrael here, reviewing as part of the regiment the Four Musketeers. :D

Overall:
I have to say this looks very professional! I don't even know how annoying it must've been to put all those [ centres ] and [ rights ] everywhere! I like your script. It's very good. I apologise for this entirely useless review. However, it might be useful to put character descriptions before all the information. Like Seemingly mentioned I was a loss for some of the characters as well. :D

Have A Nice Day,
Azrael.
