Poetry Wars
Welcome to Poetry Wars
Poetry Wars will be one on one competitions. Users submit poems using the submission guidelines below, and are chosen at random to compete with the poems they submitted. These two poems are displayed for everyone to vote for the best one. The poems will be up in The Lounge for voting for a week in Poetry Wars: Battle Thread
There will also be a panel of anonymous judges for each round of competition. These judges will create a score with comments for each poem. The winner of the round will be the poet who gets a higher percentage of votes and judge points. If there is a tie, the judges will decide.
Once a poem is selected, it gets taken out of the pool of potential competitors.
To get back into the competition, submit a new poem with the same submission guidelines. The submission form is under "How to Enter."
Judging
Judges will be a mix of moderators and someone special. This special someone could be anyone who says they wish to be a guest judge and will be chosen at random for that week's judging.
The judges will be anonymously writing about the poems giving a quick blurb if they so choose, and at the end of the week, those blurbs will be posted with the results. After that, the guest judge is changed and the other judges could also change.
Judging will take place away from YWS on Pirate Pads to ensure secrecy and ease of access. If you cannot use Pirate Pads, or do not have time to judge, please do not sign up to be a guest judge.
Guest Judge
Each voting period a guest judge will be selected at random from the potential participants and given an inside scoop as one of the judges as a judge.
If you are chosen, you will receive a letter stating that you have been chosen to be a guest judge, and given a link to the two poems which need scores. There will be instructions about how to decide on a score, and what to do with it when you're done. Since we want this to be anonymous, everything will be provided on the Pirate Pad or in the PM letter.
You will need to submit a new poem to Poetry Wars with your request to be a guest judge again to do it again.
You must respond to the PM within 48 hours or the next guest judge will be picked and informed.
If you get a letter after the start of a round, you still have to respond within 48 hours of receiving the letter or you will also not be considered the guest judge.
