In fiction, folklore, and popular culture, a doppelgänger is a tangible double of a living person that typically represents evil. In the vernacular, the word doppelgänger has come to refer to any double or look-alike of a person. The word is also used to describe the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection. Doppelgängers are often perceived as a sinister form of bilocation and generally regarded as harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelgänger seen by a person's friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one's own doppelgänger is an omen of death. In Norse mythology, a vardøger is a ghostly double who precedes a living person and is seen performing their actions in advance.
Stories typically include instances that are nearly déjà vu in substance, but in reverse, where a spirit with the subject's footsteps, voice, scent, or appearance and overall demeanor precedes them in a location or activity, resulting in witnesses believing they've seen or heard the actual person, before the person physically arrives. It has been likened to being a phantom double, or form of bilocation.
Plot:
Everyone has a Doppelgänger, it is just whether you come into contact with them that is the question. At Ballister's College nothing out of the ordinary ever happens, or so the students think. It is in fact the school is a gate way into a parallel word such as Earth except, this one; is dying. The school is the only area strong enough were Doppelgänger can connect with their other selves the problem is, they don't want a happy reunion, the Doppelgänger want to steal your place in life.
It's called the Second Earth (where Doppelgänger reside) a place which is debris and nothing else. Food and water are hard to find and anyone long enough to have survived the horrible death wave is craving new life. Your life to be exact. Doppelgängers are not you, but do not be fooled, they cannot easily trip up. Survival is their first instinct and since that's what they have to do to survive Second Earth, they are not easily brought down.
As you've been enrolled into Ballister as a boarder, this only makes it easier for your Doppelgänger to find you and steal what is theirs...
Terms:
A Doppelgänger may look like you though there are a lot of differences. For one; appearance. They might mimic you straight down to the freckle under your left nostril, though there can be some changes. For one, they might have longer hair then you, a stronger build or even a slightly different eye colour. No two people are the exact same though they can come close. Personality wise, they are completely different. You could be the most bubbly person in the whole world whilst your Doppelgänger the most grouchy. Personalities are completely the opposite, there is no closeness with the way they act. Second Earth appears just like our world but they are definitely different. For one, there is no buildings in Second Earth, there is practically nothing. As far as the eye can see, their is only debris. The seas are rising onto land and countries such as New Zealand are completely under water. Doppelgänger are continuously at war, fighting with what ever they can get their hands on. This is not a happy place, there is no sun because of the heavy smoke billowing across the sky, there is no grass because it has been burnt to crisp, there is no nothing!Rules:
