Plot:

Mageborns have been exiled since the great War that created the great barren marshes called the Waste. Although Mageborns are still very present in society, people pretend they don't exist, as the High Council slowly tries to wipe them out...

You are one such Mageborn. Most of you were living the normal lives of Peasants, or Tiers, when you discovered your magic, and a Warrior Mage came and took you to a secret hideout, far in the mountains, called the Croft.

However, some of you were highborn, Bloods, and were treated as royalty. It is your fathers and mothers who make up the Council. You were harder to 'save' from your comfortable Blood status. However, if you hadn't been removed to the croft, you would have been sacrificed, to release and appease the daemons, or Djinn, that supposedly inhabit the Mageborn.

But not all of the Mageborn are simple refugees. Some, who call themselves the Lords of the Maliaris, have infiltrated the High Council and the hidden Mage Circles, and plot to overtake both, and reap havoc across all of the land, turning it all into one great Waste.

But you don't know this. You are tucked safely away in the Croft, trying to master your magic... Which is quite enough.

Locations

The Croft: A large complex high up in the mountains, centered around the circular Mage Academy, where the Mage Circle meets, and the novice apprentices receive their lessons. It is hidden from outsiders by spells.

The Capitol: The meeting place of the High Council, and the headquarters for the Lords of Maliaris.

The Waste: A vast and barren marshland, created by the first Mage War.

You Are

You can either start already at the Croft, as a Novice, Prentice, or Master Mage, or you could be a Tier or Blood, awaiting ‘rescue’ from a Master Mage. (Please, I know we all love to be royalty, but not too many Bloods, please!)

PLEASE KEEP THE BOY/GIRL RATIO EVEN!

This okay?

Name: Mehgan Lamontagne

Age: 13

Gender: Female

Rank: Novice

Appearance: Pale, with shoulder-length brown hair and gray-blue eyes. She's of average height and weight. She usually wears a black cloak.

Personality: A doormat. Plain and simple. She'll lay down and take any and all abuse thrown at her. She's quiet and a little shy, usually making herself as small as possible so as not to draw attention. Unfortunately this usually causes the exact opposite.

History: Grew up as a peasant. Once her powers kicked in, her family became deathly afraid of her. She decided to leave and find people like her, instead of waiting. She's now wandering the Waste.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes: Quiet places, the dark, being alone, books, and learning. Dislikes: Bright light, people, loud noises, fire, and spiders. (She's deathly afraid of them).

Flaws/Good Points: She's a good listener and will usually offer good advice, if you can become her friend. She learns fast. However, she's sometimes too quiet, and never stands up for herself, or anyone else, even if she wants to. She tends to keep her emotions bottled up completely until she's alone.

Habits: Chews her nails.

Other: Up for love.

Name: Coryn

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Rank: Warrior Mage

Appearance: see picture (will add a written description too if necessary)

Picture:
Spoiler! :
Image

Personality: Enthusiastic and excitable, Coryn is a doer who lives in the world of action. A blunt, straight-forward risk-taker, he is willing to plunge right into things, and often does. He lives in the here-and-now, rarely looking forwards or backwards, and makes decisions quickly. He tends to make things up as they go along, rather than following any fixed plan, and has a... flexible outlook on laws and regulations. Besides, rule-breaking makes things more fun, right?

History: Coryn was fairly young when he was brought in, and he remembers very little of his life before the Croft. As such, he considers it to be where his true family is, and is fiercely loyal to it, having very little tolerance for those who strive to bring it down.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes: Gambling, spontaneity, open spaces, people, having fun. Dislikes: Sitting around doing nothing, being indoors, being in small spaces, theorising about stuff, routine.

Flaws/Good Points: Flaws: Often doesn't consider consequences before acting, and doesn't learn well from past mistakes. His disregard for rules often gets him into trouble with the elder Mages at the Croft. Good Points: Generally cheerful and carefree, rarely in a bad mood. His plans tend to go well, haphazard as they may be.

Habits: ...I'll get back to this?

Other: Up for love :D

Edit: sorry, I got confused with the ranks... It's been changed now!

Retrodisco and Gspy: Yes, they're great. :D

Kidashka: For your rank, what do you mean 'full'? Just a full Mage, I assume.

By the way, once a Prentice has 'graduated,' they are considered 'Mages' not just 'Prentice Mages.' Once they select a course (warrior, healer, etc), they are known as, for example, Warrior Mages. The most Senior Mages are awarded titles like First Sword (for a warrior), or First Scroll, (for a scholar).

Just a little tidbit that might be useful to know. ;)

Thanks! I almost forgot =)

Name: Loriassani Ichy'fin.

Age: 18 in Human years. (Elves have a very different concept of time... in elf years, she's about 135)

Gender: Female

Rank: Master Mage

Appearance:
Spoiler! :
Image

Personality: She isn't very talkative. Do not underestimate her; she's the first to bring a dagger to your throat on and offensive comment. She fights with bow and arrow, and has deadly aim. She can be bubbly for a dark elf, and loves to be with animals. She's like a hybrid between dark and light elves.

History: She's a wanderer, ever since the waste war where her best friend and only family were killed. She already tracked and killed the ones who killed her family. She's being hunted by old friends for ever leaving the elven territory.

Likes/dislikes; likes: Vegetation, Animals, fighting, meditation, sitting doing nothing, tutoring others.

Dislikes:Action, no time to think.

Flaws: Panics when she doesn't have time to think. Good points: Strong and agile.

Habits: Will stop in the middle of a sentence to think.

Others: She's a dark elf, so she has 'connections' with the animals. Like, they trust her. Now I'm not going to make her an overlord and say that they do her bidding, but animals and elves are very close species. They can 'talk' through their head, though sometimes she'll speak out loud. Technically, also, she is a dark elf, so she can blend and manipulate the shadows.

Awright, that's nice, but no dragons. They all died out before the Waste War. Sorry. ;)

By "Rank" I mean what level mage are they? From the sounds of it, she'd fit in well as a general Mage. Like, a jack of all trades.

Um, okay... Interesting question. The Waste War did have side effects, and one of these was mutations. They aren't very common, but I guess your character can be a rare case. Sure.

(I probably should have mentioned that little tidbit earlier... heh... :p)
