Spoiler
We are different from everyone else. From the day we were born we were able to do things others couldn’t. We learned faster, grew stronger, and excelled at what we put our minds to. The government found out about us only a few years after we were born. I, myself, was found out at age six. When they found us, they took us away. They taught us and trained us. We were to become a force like none other. Now, in the year 2113, when the world needs us most, we are heroes.

Basic Plot:

As the world approaches its end, everything has fallen to chaos. Crime rates have exploded, diseases run rampant in certain areas, and war has devastated over half of the world. This is when the heroes are needed the most.

Setting:The Hero Program is in a state of the art facility outside of New York City. The facility has all the latest technology and includes living arrangements for all members. Heros no longer staying at the facility must find their own places of residency wherever they like (any country/city/town/anywhere).

Characters:
Heroes:

People who showed exceptional abilities in any area were chosen for the hero program. I’d like this to stay as far away from actual “super powers” as possible (meaning things like element manipulation, shape shifting, flight, etc.) but abilities can be extremely in tune and somewhat appear as “super powers”. There are four levels of Heroes:
1. Beginner, this person has just recently been chosen for the program and has just begun training. Is typically of a younger age.
2. Second level, this person has spent a few years in the program and have learned some skills.
3. Hero-in-training, this person has spent many years in the program and is training to go out and do some actual heroing.
4. Hero, this person has completed all years of the program and can either now be a full-time hero or a hero who is also a teacher in the program. Teachers are usually retired heroes.

All I can hear; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". Even those tears; "I me mine, I me mine, I me mine". No one's frightened of playing it. Everyone's saying it. Flowing more freely than wine. All through your life; "I me mine".

I must say that I usually stay away from 'hero' storybooks, but this sounds amazing! Kudos to you, and I call a spot!

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and start us. People are still allowed to join (and of course it's encouraged!) just post your profile in the DT and jump on in. :)

Lane

It felt good to be on the ground again. The flight from Italy to the states had been far too long, and far too troublesome. It was hard to trust the airlines lately, you never knew who could be on board.

Lane looked at the line of taxis in front of the airport, and decided to walk. Taxis were never her thing either, not after the last time she was kidnapped. The Hero Program Facility wasn't too far from the airport anyways.

The dirty streets of New York, not to mention the decrepit state of most of the city, almost made Lane miss the disease-ridden towns of Italy. Almost. She had to admit she was interested in getting back to the facility. She had decided to take up a position there, as well as keeping up her heroing. She had informed the program leader that she would be interested in training a Hero-In-Training. While everyone had been skeptical, she had eventually been allowed the position.

The facility came into Lane's view from where it stood on the edge of the city. It was just about the only beautiful thing around anymore. Encompased in an impenetrable forcefield, everything inside remained how the world used to be. The grass was green, trees shaded portions of the campus, and the buildings were all stable.

Lane punched in her pass-code at the gate and entered. She breathed the fresh air deeply and set towards the main building.

"Glad to see you back, Hayley," the secretary said with a smile. "How was Italy?"

"Diseased, and for the last time, Janice, my name is Lane," she said.

Janice laughed a little to herself. "Malcolm is in his office waiting for you."

Lane walked past the secretary's desk and into the office of the leader of the Hero Program, Malcolm. Lane wondered for a moment, as she always did, why Malcolm never gave out his last name to anyone. He wasn't a hero anymore, and hardly left the compound. Before Lane could find an answer she was in his office.

"Ah, Miss Hayley Lane, good to see you again," Malcolm said without looking up. "I trust your trip left you in good spirits?"

"Of course," she lied.

"Well, your trainee should be waiting in the Training Center. Her name's Lheah." Malcolm looked up at Lane with a smirk on his face. "Enjoy."

Lane left the office and made her way to the Training Center. A girl of about sixteen was running laps on the track when she arrived, and was the only person in the building.

"Lheah," Lane called to the girl. She turned and ran towards Lane.

"Hey," she said with a smile.

"I'll be training you from now on," Lane informed without wasting any time on introductions, "what's your specialty?"

*sorry it's so long! hope I have everyone a bit of a feel for the environment :)*

"I can move things without touching them, read minds, and if I try hard enough, I can control people." Lheah smiled at Lane's startled expression. "Don't worry, I won't do anything to you." Lane smiled slightly. Lheah was slightly nervous. She didn't know what kind of training she would go through, but she knew that like most trainings, it would be hard, possibly painful.

**Is the school uniformed*

Landon and Alayna~

"Daddy! I can't find my shoe!" Alayna barreled out of her room, clad in her school clothes. She had a worried look on her face, with was soaked with tears. Landon looked up from his newspaper and took a sip of coffee. He smiled softly as his daughter and stood up, walking over to her. He squatted to the ground in front of her, eyes soft.

"Where did you leave it last?" He asked calmly, Alayna trying to catch her breath from crying.

"One was under my bed and the other was... oh I remember!" She smiled brightly and ran over to Chinook's dog bed, her hand darting under it to pull out a white sneaker. "See!" She smiled, Landon laughing at her softly as she tied it to her foot.

"Did you eat?" She nodded. "Brush you teeth?" Alayna nodded again. "Wash behind your ears?"

"Daddy!" Alayna whined and grabbed his hand. "Come on! We'll be late!" He chuckled and grabbed his coffee, lifting her off the ground. She sat on his shoulders proudly, smiling cheekily. Landon whistled and Chinook slid across the hardwood floor, soon wagging his tail at his master's side. Landon smiled and adjusted his glasses before stepping out of the door, Chinook close at his side.

As he took a short cut through the Training Room, a familiar face caught his eye. "Well if it isn't Miss Hayley Lane." He smiled crookedly.
