As like a magic being.

If you mean as a race of individuals then sure. If you mean as a class of magic casters I would really consider it a relabeling of a Wizard at that point.

And we're off. I am going to leave the auditions open for a few more to come. I am going to add a description of the Academy to the initial post so that everyone has information on it.
