@MadagascarMaiden! Yep as soon as April starts you can start posting poems in your thread to count towards the badges (there are badges for 15 & 30 poems) though you can post less or more too. Just click the "Reply" button in your thread, type out your poem, click submit, and you should be good to go! :) Whoop! One day until we start!

with all this outbreak of COVID-19 going on, i just had to write a poem about it. lol. i mean why not be a part of all that song writing and poetry going on? here it is:

COVID-19

You show up and ruin our time,
What other purpose do you have?
If you did, I might be able to make this rhyme,
How melancholy is the world?

You take away our chance to go
To a birthday party or a picnic.
If you didn’t, I could leave tomorrow,
How depressing is the world?

You cause people to overby whitlessly,
Such as T-P and olive oil.
When you do, it puts me in a fury,
How nutty is the world?

here is poem #2 :D

Believe
Who is he that believeth not,
The evidence I put before thee?
Was it he who built up the mountains?
Was it he who dug the seas?
So I say to you, Yahway did,
Father did, Redeemer did.
How many names must I give thee?
For they all mean the same thing.
All of them mean God,
And how many times must I say it,
To make thee believe?
For I do not wish for thee to perish,
To end up in eternal suffering.
And yet, thee still does not believe.
Oh great is my suffering,
Oh great is my pity
For those who fall into the pit of fire.
This gives me great sorrow,
Though I know there was nothing,
Nothing that I could have done about it.
For all I can do is tell thee the truth,
That God is our great Father.

here is poem #3

Questions
The wind whispered to the mountain
Saying, where are your wings?
The mountain replied saying:
I have none.
Then how are you so high up in the air?
Asked the wind
I have a strong base that lifts me up.
He replied
And so I ask you, where are your roots?
The wind understood not this question,
And thus fled to avoid it.

#4

Have You Seen My Elephant?

Have you seen my elephant?
The one without any toes,
For some reason he has toenails.
He also has a very long nose.

Have you seen my elephant?
He should be around here.
He doesn't like his big ears,
Even though he can still hear.

Have you seen my elephant?
He is late for his nap,
I know he must be tired,
For I think he is working on his rap.

thanks @alliyah
here is poem #5

I Need You

Where are you?
I miss you so tremendously.
Like day misses the dawn.
Like dew misses being in the clouds.

Come back to me.
I need you so dearly.
Like trees need roots.
Like the sun needs the sky.

Thank you.
For blessed is the one who relieves the lonely from pain.
He is blessed like we with the stars.
Like grass with water.
So, I say to you, sas efcharistó.

here's poem #6!

Birds

interesting flutterings,
constant lovely mutterings.
a tree branch sways, with hidden weight.
a small colorful blur goes darting through the sky.
come back, beautiful as a butterfly.

this one is a little shorter than most of my poems. but it still is a poem. :D

and #7!!

Watercolor

Soft colors in their pallet
Are looking at me.
One, two, and three.
A rainbow family.

The brushes in their jar
Long to dance across the page,
Forgetting their age,
Creating a lovely image.

When you put the brush down,
And close your pallet.
Your heart is displayed
In the loveliest of paint.

#8

Shadows

looking out from under
and old, underused piano,
shadows with eyes dimer
than its own ebony wood.

peeping in to haunt us,
like wispy curls of smoke,
shadows are everywhere,
when the light is not.

advancing on our sleeping forms,
under coverlets so soft,
shadows enter in our hearts,
and agitate our resting thoughts.

sorry i havent been able to do one a day so far, but i am about to make up for that.
so here are #9, #10, #11, and #12. :D

Skylights

in the daytime,
without a lightbulb,
a skylight lets us
see the sun.

when it pours
through the day,
a skylight lets us
see the rain.

when the sky
is shrouded in pink,
a skylight lets us
see the heavens.

Cinema

walking down the street,
we see a building,
decorated as if it were
a Christmas jubilee.

in bold flashy lettering
we see one word
‘CINEMA’
and I ask to see a movie.

Personal Library

i've been collecting
what?

i've been collecting
books.

i have shelves, and
shelves.

of mysteries.

Tea

lift the mug
to your lips
and drink up
being safe.

People say I love you all the time - when they say, ‘take an umbrella, it’s raining,’ or ‘hurry back,’ or even ‘watch out, you’ll break your neck.’ There are hundreds of ways of wording it - you just have to listen for it, my dear.
— John Patrick, The Curious Savage
