I've never seen any of them to be honest. Do you have a favourite, one you'd recommend? Christmas is approaching and as usual, my list is currently very short.
Gwenevire: They're exploitation movies, usually focussing on a extreme sex or violence (or both), or other such subjects (drugs is a common one), and sometimes straying into other taboo areas (depicted beastility or graphic rape, for example).
To give some easily recognisable examples: the 'Saw' and 'Hostel' movies, and Romero's Zombies movies ('Dawn of the Dead', 'Land of the Dead', etc) are all grindhouse movies.
I'm going to make this R just because of the kind of subject it is. ^_^
I suppose I like grindhouse films. I loved Shoot 'em Up and Smokin' Aces was wonderful. Haha, I don't know why I can be so entertained by such silly films, but I love them.

Isn't this more of a entertainment discussion though? *moved*
I didn't really care for them. I dont like last house on the left because I am the last house on the left. Very unsettling. Anywho, i dont care much for violent movies. But hey, they sold great at work

Shoot 'Em Up isn't a grindhouse film. Neither is The Last House In The Left. Grindhouse films include: Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, and Cannibal Holocaust. Romero's films are Grindhouse movies as well, but they're on a league of their own.
there are many problems in our times
but none of them are mine
Australia can indeed be lame and the theatres here are only screening Death Proof--and no fake trailers.
Luckily, I was living in Canada when Grindhouse came out and was able enough to watch all three hours of awesome.
Planet Terror was great, especially since it was deliberately cheesy. The fake trailers were hilarious. And Death Proof was a surprisingly good movie; the build-up was fantastic and the scene where Stuntman Mike is trying to kill the girl on the hood of the car (forget her name and what she called what she was doing) was terrific. I actually cared whether or not the characters died.
The only weird part was the end where one of the girls axe kicks Mike in the head and kills him.
