@CaptainSaltWater, if you like Percy Jackson but hate Harry Potter, these series are probably worth a look: - Maze Runner by James Dashner - The Tripods by John Christopher - Reckoners by Brandon Sanderson - Ender's Game and then the Ender's Shadow series by Orson Scott Card
Regarding my favorite books, my all-time favorites are The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and The Masters of Rome series by Colleen McCullough.
I second what Nate said about The Tripods and Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. I also second whoever said Fablehaven, and I think you'd definitely like Beyonders by Brandon Mull too. In my opinion, Brandon Mull and Rick Riordan have very similar writing styles, and appeal to the same audience-- which is funny, because they're friends.
Also, I will never not recommend The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I don't know if you in particular would like it, but I can't imagine anyone not liking it unless they didn't finish it.
Instead, he said, Brother! I know your hunger. To this, the Wolf answered, Lo!
