I was sitting in my exams class last trim. I saw some placemats that caught my attentions. On each of those placemats were explanations of a kind of poetry. This time when I looked they were replaced and I couldn’t find them. I could only remember a few of them..

Those I could remember are:

Free Verse

Ode

Blank Verse

Limerick

Villanelle

Ballad

Epic

Haiku

At last there were Poetry Terms….

I wanted some explanations from poets from this own site, YWS. Wat you know all about them. If that’s possible of course.
There are more (I think).
It would be very kind of you all who know about more sorts or ways of (writing)poetry by mentioning them too.

P.s Feel free to add tips!

Xia

Haik is a Japanese form of poetry with 5 syllabals on the first line, 7 on the next, and 5 on the last. Very short style.
I think an ode is like... a dedication to something like Ode to Joy was pretty joyful...
I think free verse is like utter rambling. I'm not in the mood to think now though.

Ah.. I'm sorry Griffink... (Yellow is my favorite color)
I hope you're happy enough now.
And would you care to post something that would be a better help? now that there's no yellow anymore?

Thx

A limerick consists of five lines. The first line has nine beats.
The second line of a limerick also has nine beats and rhymes with the first line.
The third line of a limerick has six beats. The fourth line of a limerick also has six beats and rhymes with the third line. The fifth, and final line of a limerick has nine beats and rhymes with the first and second lines. An Exsample:

"There Was a Young Boy in Fifth Grade

There was a young boy in fifth grade
Who always was rude to the aide.
He called her a jerk
And tried not to work,
And so in detention he stayed."

Hope that helped!

Too often we crave the extraordinary in life, without even learning how to cherish the ordinary first. Friend, I promise you this: if you can learn to take joy in the simple mundane things in life, the extraordinary will take care of itself, it'll be on its way, hurrying towards you. But if you skip the first part, it'll ever evade you.
