Hey peeps! Another mix from me, isn't this exciting? I think so. So this one is for Sam, starring her novel Hourglass. All songs are in mp3 format, so they download faster. YAY! And you can download them individually or you can download the whole zip. If there are any problems shout out and I'll do my best to fix them. Keep your eyes out for the next discs as I post them. I can't post it all as one big giant thing because of bandwich issues or some such thing. I also switched from MegaSpace to SendSpace for the zip.

To download from SendSpace scroll down to the bottom of the page and the link will be there.

Oh, and go read Hourglass.

NOTE: The comments inside the brackets are Sam's, the one's that aren't are mine.

Enjoy!
Cal.

Retrospect: A Mix for Hourglass, Side A

Tada! The first in the four disc set for Hourglass, novel by Sam.

[The mix is yummier than the novel itself. *applauds Cal*]

[Full Zip: 38MB]

1. Oh My God – Kaiser Chiefs [ysi link]
rulers make for greater glory
the only thing growing is our history.

Hourglass Main Theme cause Sam said so.

[For the feeling of being separated from all that is real and all that you once knew. But I like Cal’s explanation better. It’s altogether snappier.]

2. Louis XIV – Louis XIV [ysi link]
Well I’m a, weapon of mass destruction
got no apologies for a hyper-concussion
I might, swap your identity
take pure love and turn it in to obscenity.

Luke’s Theme Song. And, yes, it follows him everywhere.

3. Ghetto Ways – Scissors For Lefty [ysi link]
Words from your lips
Oh cursed hips
Oh this ghetto
Is in my blood

Luke.

4. Old Yellow Bricks – Arctic Monkeys [ysi link]
Old yellow bricks
Love's a risk
Quite the little escapologist
Love's so miffed
When you wish
For a thousand places better than this.

[You’re a fugitive, but you don't know what you’re running from.]

Luke.

[And his…what is it now? Three prison breaks? Sneaky little bugger.]

5. Misread – Kings of Convenience [ysi link]
All throughout history the loneliest people
Were the ones who always spoke the truth.

Perhaps for Barclett.

[And Matthias, too.]

6. Had a Dream – Bird York [ysi link]
he's lost the map his life was on
says everything is unraveling.

For Matthias, pretty much his theme song in my mind.

7. Ways and Means – Snow Patrol [ysi link]
I never knew the taste of blood till now
It's clear I never should have known
Breathing fire was never this much fun
So there's a dark side in us all.

[When Jeremy discovers killing people isn’t quite so bad.]

8. Caps and Bottles – Dropkick Murphys [ysi link]
I recall when I was small I thought I'd be legend soon
but that was then and this is now
a harder road cannot be found don't get me wrong,
good times were had sometimes the fun outweighed the bad
but all in all, now said and done I can recall more bad than fun…

Jeremy. But I’m sure Luke has zoomed this song from him.

9. You are a Runner and I am My Father's Son – Wolf Parade [ysi link]
and I am my father's son
his bed is made
I was a hero early in the morning
I ain't no hero in the night.

Jeremy and Luke.

10. Brilliant Mistake – Elvis Costello [ysi link]
He thought he was the King of America.

11. Carry On Wayward Son – Kansas [ysi link]
Carry on my wayward son,
They'll be peace when you are done.
Lay your weary head to rest,
Don't you cry no more.

Jeremy.

12. Dancing with Myself – Billy Idol [ysi link]
Oh, oh, oh dancing with myself
Oh, oh, oh dancing with myself

For the boys of Hourglass. (Luke, Jeremy, David, Adelais, Upton, Kostya…)

13. Samson – Regina Spektor [ysi link]
You are my sweetest downfall, I loved you first…

For Adelais and Upton.

[And for Liberty, before her unfortunate discovery. The cutting-hair scene is all-too literal.]

14. Grace Kelly – Mika [ysi link]
Do I attract you?
Do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
Am I too dirty?
Am I too flirty?
Do I like what you like?

David. [The self-conscious mess that he is. *glomp*]

15. The Late Great Cassiopia – The Essex Green [ysi link]
I was born today in all them constellation
The minor where a major wants to be.

16. God, Make Up Your Mind – Cold War Kids [ysi link]
God make up your mind
Do you wanna play fair
Should I take what's mine?

Adelais.

17. Rehab – Amy Winehouse [ysi link]
They tried to make me go to rehab but I said no, no, no
Yes I been blind but when I come back you'll know, know, know.

Adelais in the face of the whole Emotionless Male Hunter Epidemic; his drug of choice, Opium.

18. Time is Running Out – Muse [ysi link]
I wanted freedom
Bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
But I'm addicted.

Adelais.

[Yay, symbolism, on two counts- Smart and opium.]

19. El Manana – Gorillaz [ysi link]
I saw that day, lost my mind.
Lord, I'll find maybe in time
You'll want to be mine.

Adelais, yet again.

20. We Both Go Down Together – The Decemberists [ysi link]
And oh, my love, my love
And oh, my love, my love
We both go down together

Liberty. Sam says, “Not for the Romeo/Juliet thing (or the frolicking in fields), but the flowery-ness and the guy character. Not that she is a guy- just, ah, use your imagination.”

[And for Luke and the Infanta, actually. Theirs is a plot twist I shan’t reveal, but it does have something to do with, er….love. And going down.

Together, naturally.]

What's funny is I think I have most of these songs. But yeah ... can't wait for the other discs. Awesomeness.

As I have said many times before, Cal- you own my soul. Seriously.

I listened today and it made me so happy...^_^ And you put up my nerdy comments! That's strangely excellent of you.

Oh, so yummy. I shall print off the covers and make a proper CD tomorrrow- it's just that good.

...I can't possibly thank you enough. *grovels*

YAY!

I loved making this mix, and reading all your nerdy comments was a bonus, Sam.

Right now I am combining all the other sides into zips so I can post theme, only thing is I seem to be missing two songs so I have to find them first before I can share.

Heehee, Rehab makes me want to dance.

I've had the Arctic Monkeys in my head ALL DAY because of this, lol.

You should really put up part 4. :D These are very good to listen to when frantically doing physics/chemistry/math homework! :D
