~PROLOGUE~

A new school year, a new beginning awaited me. As usual I did not know what to expect on the first day of school, especially since this was only my second year in the United State’s school system. I come from Kiev, the capitol of one of the largest European countries on the east of Poland. I come from Ukraine. Immigrating was a tough challenge both physically and psychologically for me, and to this day my heart yearns to return home. But I got sidetracked…
It was the fall of 7th grade, the first day of school; I receive my schedule and hurried to my first period class, gym class. I saw a blonde girl standing in the center of the room looking confused as to where to go. I walked up to her. –“Hey, what’s your name?” I asked, trying to be as friendly as I could. –“I’m Katie”, replied the girl. –“I’m Kateryna, and I have no clue where the class for Siebe is meeting…Do you know?” I asked hoping we were both looking for the same thing. –“Actually, that’s what I’m trying to figure out..” , she said smiling, so we both walked over to the far part of the gym in hopes we were in the right place. Many unfamiliar faces filled the old, blue, gym and as I was still not used to the school system, even after a year, I was overwhelmed by all that I saw and was faced with. Soon the teacher, Mr. Siebe, came into the room and called his students over. Surprisingly enough, our class did meet by the back wall of the gym. He arranged us in alphabetical order.
My best friend from 6th grade ended up being in that class. Her name was Julianne, a quiet girl much like me. She sat in the back of me and this brought a sense of security since not all the faces were unfamiliar now. In front of me sat a blonde girl, the one I had just met, Katie I think it was. I tapped her –“Hey!” I said with a wide smile which quickly faded when I realized I had made an error. –“Hi-i-i...” replied the blonde girl turning around and looking a little confused. –“Oh sorry, I though you were someone else…” I said quickly, realizing I had tapped the wrong person. At that point I did not understand how to make friends in this country, it was new to me, alien, and I was lost.
That day I met my very best friend that I would share all my further life experiences with, whose shoulder I would cry on and who would become the bearer of my secrets. I had met a girl that would come to me to disclose her joys and problems, a girl who I would later write a novel about. This novel is about that girl, a girl named Jen.

The last paragraph, I love. The last line feels akward some how, but I like it. There's some spelling stuff, but you're first language isn't English, so that was obviously harder for you. I liked it though. Nice style, although some details could have been spared. And formatted better. I'd advise you to space it out more, and give us more deatil in some places more than just "the blonde girl" and less in others.
It was good though. I'm intrigued. Your ending really drew me in.

It was the fall of 7th grade, the first day of school; I received my schedule and hurried to my first period class, gym class. I saw a tall, thin blonde girl standing in the center of the room looking confused as to where to go. I walked up to her. –“Hey, what’s your name?” I asked, trying to be as friendly as I could. –“I’m Katie”, replied the girl, her eyes were piercing blue and her face dotted with freckles. –“I’m Kateryna, and I have no clue where the class for Siebe is meeting…Do you know?” I asked hoping we were both looking for the same thing. –“Actually, that’s what I’m trying to figure out..” , Katie said smiling, so we both walked over to the far part of the gym in hopes we were in the right place. My best friend from 6th grade ended up being in that class. Her name was Julianne, a quiet girl much like me; she had black shoulder length hair and came from a strict Philipino family where she was an only child. –“Oh sorry, I though you were someone else…” I said quickly, analyzing this girl’s features. She was shorter than Katie, had softer facial features and no freckles. Realizing I had tapped the wrong person I quickly turned to Julianne as if pretending to brush the misconception off lightly. At that point I did not understand how to make friends in this country, it was new to me, alien, and I was lost.
That day I met my very best friend that I would share all my further life experiences with, whose shoulder I would cry on and who would become the bearer of my secrets. Nice. Although you're description of Julianne could be smoother. An improvement nonetheless.

Well, this is an intriguing idea. She's from the Ukraine, and she's moved to the U.S. so of course, she's a little confused.

A few things I would point out...

I come from Kiev, the capitol of one of the largest European countries on the east of Poland. I come from Ukraine.

Most of this you don't need... why not just say: I come from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Much shorter, and gets rid of a lot of stuff you don't need.

I saw a tall, thin blonde girl standing in the center of the room looking confused as to where to go.

First of all, you probably shouldn't start off with a huge description of the girl. It's better to show what she's doing, rather than just saying she looked confused.

Secondly, it could be better to start by saying that the main character was lost, and then she notices the girl - at the moment, it focuses more on the other girl than on the main character..

More formatting needed here. Main thing you need to worry about is paragraphs, especially when to use them.

New person speaking = new paragraph, so.. it'd look more like this::

I walked up to her. “Hey, what’s your name?” I asked, trying to be as friendly as I could.

“I’m Katie”, replied the girl, her eyes were piercing blue and her face dotted with freckles.

“I’m Kateryna, and I have no clue where the class for Siebe is meeting…Do you know?” I asked hoping we were both looking for the same thing.

“Actually, that’s what I’m trying to figure out..” , Katie said smiling, so we both walked over to the far part of the gym in hopes we were in the right place.

That day I met my very best friend that I would share all my further life experiences with, whose shoulder I would cry on and who would become the bearer of my secrets. I had met a girl that would come to me to disclose her joys and problems, a girl who I would later write a novel about. This novel is about that girl, a girl named Jen.

Like Gazza, I really liked this last paragraph - it made me want to read on and find out about Jen and what she does in the story.

However, the last line confused me a little. I had thought this was a prologue, but I think it'd be better as a foreword, as it talks about background history and introduces the novel, but it's not actually a part of the story.

Hope I helped. Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions. Good luck with it!
