I voted for "Beauty and the Beast," but I may be biased because we did that for one of our musicals.
My favorite well-known fairy tale is probably Little Red Ridding Hood. ^^
(Although I do like the idea of a house made of gingerbread...)
If you read through the original Grimm's Fairy Tales, a lot of even the well-known fairy tales are quite different.

I voted for Rapunzel but with the original in mind, rather than the re-write!

I'd love to see The Little Match Girl as an option though.

I enjoy little red ridding hood because of the many twists you can place upon it

Hansel and Gretel? I mean is an interesting story and you change and twist so many things. Every one has to know of two kids running into a witch's house, right?

Rapunzel! Because even somebody who is trapped has a way to be rescued!

The traditional "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen has always been a favorite of mine. It's such a haunting, powerful tale of the strive for love and humanity--and I'm a sucker for the religious undertones.
