So I browsed a few tutorials and make this on GIMP.

I haven't tried using fire effects on anything else, but I'd say this one turned out much better than I expected.

The lower edge of the flames is rather stark, and gives the whole thing a very computer-generated feel. Perhaps blur it a little bit?

Otherwise, cool effect!
