What's your favorite Fantasy book?

Harry Potter will forever hold a special place in my heart. Sure I liked the language, but the plot, now that was excellent.

Let me describe how good it is to me.
Think of your favourite authors, times that by 2000, subtract 3 then times by 3000.

Narnia. Full stop. And I mean the books, not the movies. Nothing is ever going to surpass--or even come close to--Narnia.

LOTR (in which are included Hobbit, Silmarillion, Children of Hurin, and all the rest) would be second.

Circle of Magic (and its related books, except Battle Magic which for various reasons I regard as non-canon), Chanters of Tremaris, Harry Potter, and Dark is Rising are in there too, but definitely below LOTR, and WAY below Narnia.

In conclusion: others are good, LOTR is supremely excellent, but Narnia will always overshadow everything.

I'm...not going to comment on Twilight and Eragon.

Harry Potter is below LOTR and Narnia? Since when?! Nooo way, Harry Potter is way up there - never will there be another series to rival it in all or any of its aspects.

I agree though, Narnia is way up there too and um.....(I was quite a fan of Eragon).

I'm ashamed to say I have the LOTR books but given the time period they were written, my attention kept drifting to other things (like what I'm eating for dinner).

You know what, scratch what I just said, Raptor Red is more historical fiction. My favorite fantasy book would probably be The Hobbit or With These Broken Wings, though WTBW is unpublished.

I don't think I have any one particular favourite book, but at the moment I'm really enjoying the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

My favorite books of all time would be The Inheritance Cycle. I read it a few years ago and I love it. It always encourages me that Christopher Paolini published his book at 15! Such encouragement there.

I also like the Lord of the Rings books. Although, they are long and some what VERY dry, you have to admire Tolkien for being able to make such enthralling books. The amount of detail he has is crazy!

Probably the Harry Potter books or A Game of Thrones.

Anything written by Brandon Sanderson. He is a god to me. Amazing at writing and so creative. The Mistborn Trilogy in particular stole my heart.

For the interested, he has a lot of lectures from his SFF creative writing classes up for free on YouTube. They helped me improve more than I can possibly say.
