I couldnt figure where to put this, so it ended up here, like most of my stuff! Needs a bit of work, but its only a first draft so help would be appreciated.

forgiveness

there are shafts of sunlight in our lives;
moments when we see things truly
to which we were once blind.
and there are shafts of shadow, too,
when people like you move across the sun
sending fingers of blackness into our fearful eyes.

you cant have the brightest light without the deepest shade;
there is no illumination without first ignorance.
so I forgive you; and I understand

that there are some stars from which the darkness never fades.

Got a poem or short story you want me to critique?

There is only one success: to be able to spend your life in your own way, and not to give others absurd maddening claims upon it. (C D Morley)

like seeing for the first time.

I think you can make this more direct by using the word blind somewhere in here.

[s]but[/s] you can't have the brightest light without the deepest shade;

It's rather good for a first draft. I enjoyed how you broke up the last sentance.

I didn't find anything wrong with this except maybe do some capitalization. I love the idea expressed in this poem. Beautiful. :) Great work.
