With June 30, 2013 Review Day: 750 Reviews of Summer looming ahead, have a think about what you appreciate the most in a review (and give back on June 30th)!

I really want ideas about the big picture.
I mean, I used to love wasting time line editing, and getting these huge reviews out of it, 'cause I could point out every wrong comma, but in the end, the writer might end up changing the structure of those sentences and not need my corrections at all. Besides that, they should learn to copy edit on their own.

So what I need and what I give is thoughts about the piece. How do I receive it? What are my thoughts on why I received it that way? Are there any ideas that didn't come across clearly? etc. Always always always big picture!

Mindless praise? I wonder who came up with that one. Bahaha.

None of the options other than 'all of the above' cover EVERYTHING I want in a review. You need variety.

I would have picked 'All of the above' but I don't want mindless praise!

I picked 'Ideas on improving the big picture' because if a review could only give me one thing, it would be the ability to improve my writing. I would otherwise pick 'Honest opinions', but then simply hearing an opinion isn't going to help me figure out how to improve my piece!
I didn't know what to put here so I put this.

I don't mind getting nitpicks on grammar and spelling, it's actually rather helpful; however when that's the only thing the review consists of, it can get annoyng! I'm sure others will agree.

So remember when doing a review, don't just pick on the grammar! Because it's usually just something the author didn't notice. (Unless he grammar overall seems poor, then maybe it's something worth mentioning in more depth.)

Someone who knows what's up. Reading reviews that only say "I don't get it" or "i like it you're amazing" are a waste of time.

Having all of them is healthy so I picked 'All of the above', but if you'd ask me which I love the most, I'd say mindless praises! XD :D On the other note, I hate it when people critique rather 'harshly' and assume they understood everything when they apparently didn't.
