I smirked at the empty second floor of the mall. I had always wanted to do this when I was younger. I’m kidding, I already did! Only this time there wasn’t any stupid rent-a-cops here to chase me out. I dropped my board and stood on it, pushing off with my foot. Before long I was skating around the rails and abandoned kiosks. The products were still intact. They weren’t very fun. Phone charms, foot massage machines, fancy smelling shampoo. The cool stuff was upstairs.
The cool air hit my face as I went faster. I almost sighed. I sorta missed the rent-a-cops. It gave me somebody to antagonize. I pushed myself faster, thinking about when I was younger. I had ridden through the mall in my home town, yelling at the top of my lungs, “FIRE!” with my friends Jonny and Allan. I wondered if they might be out there somewhere...
Nope. Nope, nope, nope. No. I thought. I will not think of them.
Even though Allan and Jonny weren’t the most trustworthy they were still my pals.
Then did I realize I was heading for a group of torn up mannequins and, before I could react, crashed into the bits and fell hard.
“God!” I exclaimed. “That freakin’ hurts!”
I was just glad nobody saw me near almost tears, cradling my arm. It hurt but it probably wasn’t broken. I held it out, grimacing. I’d have some god awful bruises....

I threw my last shuriken at the dead telephone pole and grimaced at it. How sad. This over sized piece of lumber used to symbolize our society and the technology it wielded. Now, it was just a giant wooden pole in the ground. Now it was my target practice. Running to retrieve my shuriken, I scanned the area around me, scowling at it's emptiness.

The square looked like a ghost town. Nothing sat in the streets but dead cars and broken glass. To newcomers, if they even existed anymore, the square would look uninhabited, which, I guess, is what it was supposed to look like. But i knew differently. I knew who and what lay inside the empty shops and storefronts. I was one of them.

Part of me hated what we did here. A very small part of me, the part that always wanted to curl into a little ball and cry. But I would never tell anyone that. No. What we did is necessary for survival. If I weren't a Wicked, I would die. This is the only lifestyle. It's kill or be killed.

I slid down the pole to sit on the ground. Looking at the clouded sky, I tried to lose myself. It was easier that way sometimes.

Kaira Tabin:
I lounged on the roof, watching the Ferris wheel through one of the two pairs binoculars that I had found in the house that Jam and I occupied. They helped to observe and not be observed. A dark, curly haired girl was currently climbing the Ferris wheel, and was wondering if she’s fall. It would be interesting if she did. Just as that thought passed through my head, the girl lost her grip and slipped. My heart jumped and I leaned forwards, an excited smile on my face. I was disappointed when she didn’t take the plunge. She continued climbing and grabbed the red bandanna tied at the top. I watched it flutter to the ground. From my roof, I could hear the cheers for the girl and frowned.

Why would she want to impress anyone? It was better just to scare them. Why make friends when you could hurt enemies so much more without feeling guilty. I rolled onto my back, letting the binoculars fall from my hand and onto my satchel. The sun burned in the sky and I closed my eyes. I suddenly wanted to hurt the climbing girl. Fingering the knife wedged into my belt, I thought of the ways I could make her cry.

Footsteps sounded close to me, but I didn’t get up. I recognised the footsteps. The red print of the sun on my eyelids changed to black.

“Kai.” I opened my eyes. Jem stood above me. I smiled.

Jem Tabin:
I knew where Kaira was, since she had told me using our radios once she had got there earlier. And I wasn’t very far away, since I was watching a girl on the square thunck little squares repeatedly into a useless telephone pole through my pair of binoculars. I could see where Kaira was lying down from here. The girl slid to the bottom of the post and ceased to be interesting. It was time for us to go and find something to eat anyway. I looked back to Kaira and saw her turn over. I stood up, slung my satchel over my shoulder, and started to make my way towards Kaira.

I wouldn’t be bothering her, since she was apparently awake. As I made my careful way across the roofs, I sighed. With the gangs monopolising the food sources, it was hard for loners to find good food. Luckily, me and Kaira know where to find food. I reached Kaira’s roof and looked at her. She was fingering her knife and had a pensive expression on her face. In one of her daydreams again. I knew that she had a few other knives on her and probably two or three more in her bag. I gripped the gun on my own belt. She had her eyes shut. I went and stood next to her, blocking the sunlight.

“Kai.” I said, using my nickname for her. She opened her eyes and smiled.

“Jem. Time to scavenge? She asked, holding out her hand so that I could pull her up. Once she was on her feet and putting away her binoculars, I replied.

“Yeah. You know, you shouldn’t stay out there like that. What if someone from the gangs found you?”

“I knew it was you. Twin power. I would have got up if it was anyone else, but I was having a lovely daydream. The Ferris wheel climber was crying.”

I imagined that for a second. I knew who she was talking about. The girl was always climbing. I sighed. “Whilst that’s a very nice image, we do have to go and get some food. Cereal bars and crisps just don’t cut it.” Kai picked up her satchel and slung it across her body.

“So where to today?” she asked. I could tell my eyes were glowing at the prospect of having proper food.

“Well the school still has some lasagnes left…”

Annie Atticus

Music was thrumming through the righteous shouts and laughs of parry goers, and the air was beginning to carry the scent of alcohol until it was almost a palpable haze. Annie was freely drowning a half bottle of whiskey while watching a bunch of drunks play Russian Roulette, and a guy next to her was starting a shout of 'Miss, Miss, Miss!'

Annie slapped the bottle down on the wooden counter and heaved herself to her feet, her stomach needing the kiss of fresh air. She left the tent and walked a ways from the main amusement park and out to a small crop of woods, in the general direction of one of the food warehouses.

The leaves felt good as they glanced her bare arms, and she sighed. She pulled a threadbare hair tie out of her pocket and stacked her mess of curls on her head, blowing stray ones too short to put up out of her face as she did. She thought of when Ethan was fetched away by one of his 'deputies', for lack of a better word, and the slight tension around his eyes that told her how serious it was. Oh, well. Whatever had happened, it didn't have anything to do with her. Right?

She came upon one of the warehouses that was set in a small valley-like scenery, where two sloping hills covered by trees appeared to be squeezing it in between. The warehouses were used to store old and broken rides that waited in a clean mountain of dust, but a long time ago when there was the mad scramble and hording of food just after the gas had hit, the warehouses had been converted to store food. It was painted to resemble the now overgrown grass, but the paint had already started to deteriorate in huge jagged strips.

A flicker caught her eye, but it was gone before she could see anything. She backed up slowly and hid behind one of the trees, peering down the hill. There. A dark figure darted out from the opposite hill, scampering down to the warehouse. It paused at the corner, then it turned and waved quickly from where it had come. More came flowing down, and Annie caught a flicker of fluorescent paint in the shape of a circle with an X.

Knuckleheads.

She turned and darted back through the woods, out first being careful of where she stepped in fear of being heard and then in a full out sprint until she reached the tents. She inhaled heavily and then shouted at the top of her lungs, "RAID! THE KNUCKLEHEADS ARE RAIDING OUR FOOD!"
"we'll fasten it with some safety pins and tape and a dream, and you're good to go, honey."

Bronwyn.
She always loved the parties. She just hated hang overs. But from time to time she took the chance. Hadley handed her some whiskey and smirked. With all of the excitment and laughter and music she thought to herself, tonight's gonna be a good night. I can feel it.
"Raid!"
What? She caught sight of Annie.
"The Knuckleheads are raiding our food!"
"Hell no!" one guy slurred beside Bronwyn, pushing past her. Soon more and more of the Maniacs were rushing to the exit.
Following Hadley, Bronwyn sprinted out of the tent.
Maybe tonight isn't going to be as awesome as planned. she thought.

Luther.
"They're coming! Hurry up!" I heard one of the guys hiss.
"I'm trying!" I said, prying the last door open. Soon we'd have food and those stupid Maniacs would be too busy getting drunk. They were always taking it for granted, wasting it all at those parties. I bet they threw out what they didn't eat. Morons. The door screeched open and I could hear insults on how I should keep the noise down.
"Not like I can control it," I muttered.
"What was that?" one guy said. I could feel him glaring at me in the dark.
"Nothing. Nothing," I replied, opening the door wide.
"Finally!" someone else said.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" shouted a girl's voice.
Please don't be a Maniac, please don't be a maniac. I thought as I turned. But, you know, I never get what I ask for.

Is this an ok post? Sorry it's not very good but I promise a better one tomorrow.

"What the hell do you think your doing!" I screamed at the blond Knucklehead. I had my bow in my hand and I was ready to fire. My arrow drawn and more arrow's in my quiver, the Knucklehead looked terrified. They had opened our food stash all the way open now and I was mad. They are complete losers, why can't they just find their own food.

"Why don't you back off and get your own food." I said forcefully staring each and everyone one of those boneheads in the eye. Bronwyn had followed her and had raised her dagger up next to her inching closer to the Knuckleheads. The Knuckleheads stared back at us but maybe without such a strong glare.

"Why don't you leave?" Bronwyn asked bringing her dagger next to a taller Knucklehead with curly hair. The Knucklehead stiffened up and I could see him shakily reach for a hunting knife in his back pocket. I rushed over to him and pushed him onto the wall and put my hand over his throat.

"I wouldn't that is I were you," I said as Bronwyn bared her knife and started walking towards the Knuckleheads who were slowly walking away. I could feel the tall knucklehead tensing into my hand. He smiled evilly and grabbed his knife quickly out of his pocket and flipped me around so I was on the wall now. He glared into me with his hard brown eye's and put the knife on my cheek.

"One more word and I cut you." I growled into my ear. I smirked and whispered back, "You don't have the guts."

He looked confused at my confidence and then regained his focus. He dig the knife harder into y cheek and I felt blood drip down my face. I did all I could not to cry out and Bronwyn as to busy chasing away the other Knuckleheads to notice. I glared at his and he glared back. His eye's staring into mine he slowly pulled his knife away. I ripped the bottom of my tank top and lifted it to my cheek trying to stop the blood. The tall boy watched.

"What?" I yelled at him. He shook his head and walked away. I frowned and sunk to the ground pressing the cloth hard on my wound and waited for Bronwyn to return.

I could hear the commotions coming from the Maniac's territory and immediately knew that the Knuckleheads were at it again. They were always weaseling their way into the Maniac's food supply, a knucklehead move indeed. But it was amusing to watch the two gangs to head to head over a can of soup.

Finally, my boredom got the better of me and I decided to go check out the showdown. The Borough was fairly small and the run from the square to the old amusement park was fairly easy, and one that I had made many times. I often snooped around the Borough, watching the other gangs. The Wickeds may have been all about jumping people and inducting people into the group but I didn't jump anyone unless attacked or when ordered.

I was just getting to the entrance gate of the park when an angry voice called out, "Hey you! What are you doing?"

Ah, that was a mess. I'm sorry. The next one will be better!

Kaira :
I heard the sounds of a fight coming from the theme park and sat up on the blankets that were my bed. You could never get a good night’s sleep in this place, but at least there were fights galore. I glanced over at Jem. He seemed to be fast asleep in his bed, but I knew better. He loved listening to fights even more to me.
"Jem." I hissed at him. He turned over and looked at me. His green eyes shone in the faint light from the window.
"Yes?" He didn't even sound sleepy. Bah. He could probably spend a whole week without sleeping.
"Do you want to go watch the fight?" I asked excitedly. I had already started untangling myself from my blankets without waiting for his reply.
"Fine, but you aren't allowed to join in. Okay?" I drooped a little, but still scrambled to my feet. grabbing a couple of knives, I bounced on the balls of my feet next to the door. Waiting for Jem to get his gun and ammunition.
"Commooooooon!" I whined, trying to get him to hurry up. He sighed and unlocked the door. I scrambled out of it like an excited puppy and scrambled up onto the roof. The theme park was lit up like, well, a theme park. The Maniacs' warehouse was surrounded by a moving mass of people.

Jem was quickly up on the roof with me and with a glance we were off. It wasn't that far and we were soon close to the fight. A street away just to be sure. We crouched down on a roof and peered at the fight. One girl was chasing away a small group of people. I squinted slightly. Knuckleheads. A grin spread across my face as I saw a Knucklehead pin a girl against the wall and press his knife into her cheek. Blood spilled over and stained her top as her face twisted. I felt my control slip away as I grabbed my knife.

Jem:
Kai always knows when I'm awake, I thought as we watched the fight. She would call it "twin power", and sometimes I really did have to agree with her. My attention returned to the fight. The Knuckleheads had evidently tried to get into the Maniacs' warehouse again. That much was clear from the locks on the floor. I shivered slightly as I watched a Knucklehead pin a girl to the wall. Close to them, a girl was chasing away a group of Knuckleheads down the street next to us, threatening them with a bow.
I sensed Kaira move next to me and glanced over at her. She had grabbed her knife and was standing up. "Kai!" I hissed at her. She didn't pay any attention as she leapt off of the roof and in-front of the fleeing group. I swore and grabbed my gun. She had started to carve a path through the group towards the girl who had been pinned against the wall. I should've been more careful. Kaira's control was rocky at best. I shouldn't have brought her here. I was silently blaming myself as I scrambled off of the roof after her.

I tried to push my way through the group following Kai, but I was pushed back. A fist landed on my shoulder. I grabbed it and twisted and twisted, putting the owner in an arm-lock. Without even looking at who it was, I smacked them over the head with the butt of my gun and let them fall to the ground. I looked around for Kai and saw her fighting a Knucklehead. A smirk was spread across her face and her eyes were glazed with excitement. I sighed. She was lost to words. Really. When would she stop making me so worried? I pointed my gun straight into the air and fired.

Annie Atticus

Annie let her knife sink into the meaty flesh of a Knucklehead, blood glittering all over her arm. He screamed, a horrible one that boiled your brain cells like a southern kitchen, and fell to the ground. Annie could feel half of her face beginning to swell up, and she knew she looked like hell's little Tasmanian devil. She also knew that she would be in one hell of a shock when she woke up, because this would be the first time she had to actually kill something with a face, something that could scream their family's names as they fell to the ground.

But there was only one thing going through her mind, and it woke a primal beast that craved freedom.

Kill, kill, kill.

She moved on to the next one, and the next one. Each one left some physical addition to her body, but she couldn't feel the pain. Maybe she should stop. She heard of people who had been injured enough for it to be nothing but a hum in the background, but she had never felt it herself. Maybe she could join her parents...

No. Her parents are in a place she would prefer not to be in.

She was looking for her next victim when her left ear splintered, and she stumbled back from the noise. She had been standing right next to some idiot who had shot a gun in the air. A high pitched B flat had started in her ear, and her vision was getting blurry. Blood loss? Maybe.

The floor sure was looking friendly today. Everyone else seemed to think the same thing, because there sure was a lot of people on the ground. Maybe she can find a nice empty spot, on the grass where no one can see her. That'd be nice. Then she could get away from all of this noise. Why are they so noisy? She couldn't remember. All she could see was the floor getting bigger and bigger...

Luther was taking forever to get anything done. After a lot of complaints from other members and a few years, he got the door open. "Finally," I muttered and started to rush in.

"What the hell do you think you're doing!"

I turned around slowly to see a livid blonde maniac who just happened to be toting a threatening looking bow.

"Why don't you back off and get your own food," she cried, and another Maniac stalked up.

"Why don't you leave?" the new one asked, coming near me. I stiffened and tried to get my knife. I almost had it when the blonde came up and pushed me against the wall, a hand on my throat.

"I wouldn't that is I were you," she hissed. I froze and looked down at her, realizing that she was several sizes smaller than me. I grinned and flipped her around, grabbing my knife as I pushed her against the wall.

"One more word and I cut you." I whispered into her ear.

The blonde had the audacity to smirk and whisper back, "You don't have the guts."

I blinked, surprised that she had actually continued to speak, but managed to gather my wits enough to press my blade into her cheek slowly. I smirked as blood bloomed on her cheek and pulled down slowly. I looked into her hard eyes and stared back, unwilling to break eye contact. Gosh, she had pretty eyes. I found myself taking the knife away to my utmost horror, but she was already tearing some of her tank top and applying pressure to her wound. I just watched, lowering my knife.

"What?" she snapped.

I just looked at her for a second more and shook my head because I didn't even know. I walked away, but I'd only taken a few steps when I heard her cursing. I glanced back and saw someone, not Knucklehead or Maniac I recognized, begin to attack the girl. Some part of me that I wasn't entirely in control of, approached again. The attacker whirled around on me, and I realized I was entirely out of league.

Suddenly, my feet were thick and clumsy and my knife felt like a foreign object in my hands. I held it out desperately when she brought her knife in a downwards swipe.

I glanced up when some fool shot a gun in the air.

I looked up at the sky as I heard the Knucklehead who attacked me walk away. I would never admit it to anyone, but I thought he was pretty cute. A figure walked up to me a couple seconds later blocking my view from the moon.

"Shit," I mumbled as she pulled out a gun. She tried to punch me but I was to quick for her. I was on my feet before he had put her arm down again. I picked my bow I had dropped earlier and tried stinging it but tiny black dots kept clouding my vision. I could hear the Knucklehead approaching me again and a gun went off. I prayed to my self that it wasn't the Wicked girl. It wasn't.

"Who was stupid enough to shoot off a gun?" Asked the Knucklehead looking around. The Wicked was still staring at me with pure hate in her eye's. I could still see Knucklehead look over at me thinking about what team he should join. I looked over at the Knucklehead with pleading eye's and he nodded bringing his knife out again, still fresh with my blood smeared across it. I smirked as he joined my side and I raised my bow trying not to shake. I was loosing conciseness and the black dots where almost completely covering my vision. strung my bow quickly and shoot at the Wicked.

"It's OK, I got this." The Knucklehead whispered to me. I was thankful for that and I collapsed seconds later the black dots completely taking over my eyes.

I came back to myself as I heard the gunshot. The boy who had had the girl pinned against the wall stood in front of me, in his hand a knife that he didn’t seem comfortable with. The girl stood next to him, a bow in her hand. I observed them quietly.

"Who was stupid enough to shoot off a gun?" asked the boy. I wasn’t going to reply that it was Jem. He would be annoyed enough with me as it was. The girl looked at him, a question in his eyes and nodded, raising the knife, blood glinting on its blade. A predatory smile spread in my imagination. You shouldn’t feed the wolves, Knucklehead. He stepped forwards to stand next to her and she managed to nock an arrow and aim her bow at me. I smirked slightly. Did she really think that I wouldn’t be able to dodge an arrow, even at point blank range? She loosed an arrow, her eyelids flickering slightly as she did so. I took a step to the side, but the arrow still grazed my right forearm, a trail of blood trickling down my arm. I stared at it, slightly entranced.

KAI! I heard in my head. I glanced up and saw Jem glaring at me, his gun raised in the air. Slight guilt panged my heart - my brother was always worried because of me - but I was thrilled by the number of people on the ground around him. Sound is a good weapon.

I stored the information in my head for later use and glanced back at the Knucklehead. He was laying the girl on the floor and was eying me warily at the same time. I smirked as I flicked my knife around so that the blade lay flat against my arm.

I waited until the boy stood up and whipped my arm around and struck him on the temple with the butt of the dagger. Or tried to. He reached out and grabbed my arm, holding it in a vice-like grip. I looked up at him and into his eyes. The were full of uncertainty. I smiled. He knew that I was too good for him to beat. I felt a the tug of release, but didn’t fully give in, staying aware of what was going on, just letting the other me taking over my body. My control wasn’t as shaky as Jem thought, I just liked losing control, the release that it gave me.

I watched as my leg swung up and around and connected with the boy’s head, hard, but not hard enough. He stumbled and I? She? took the opportunity to flick the knife around again and slash upwards. The boy stepped backwards, the knife still tearing a hole in his t-shirt and scoring a line up his chest. Blood! I thought in glee.

“Shit. Shit. Shit.” he swore repeatedly as he stepped backwards. I/she stalked forwards, twirling the knife in my/her hand.

“Kai!” Jem’s voice called behind me. The other me stopped and disappeared, letting me completely control my body. I turned around to look at him.

“Jem.” My complaint was clear in my voice. I had been ready to take this to killing, just to have fun.

“We have to go.” I heard the boy move behind me and whirled around just in time to parry a blow. Jem was quickly next to the boy, pressing the gun to his temple.

"You touch my sister again, your friends will be picking pieces of skin off of the ground for months, wondering which part of your body it comes from. Understand?" He growled. He was close to losing control too. No one would be able to stop us then. The boy nodded and the gun disappeared into Jem's waistband. "Come on, Kai. We're going." I followed reluctantly. I had wanted to play more. I picked my backpack up from where I had dropped it at some point and slung it onto my back before catching up with my brother, sliding my hand into his.

"I'm sorry, Jem. I don't mean to worry you." I stepped over bodies lying on the floor. I could sense that a few people were watching us, probably wondering whether to attack or not, but I ignored them. They could attack us if they wanted a bullet through their brain.

"It's fine. I couldn't get angry with you if I wanted to. You're all I have." I smiled. The other me whispered into my brain. Keep holding onto that hope. I frowned inside. I didn't like the way the other me didn't like Jem. Jem was the only one who really cared for me. I padded along beside him, wondering if anyone would come and bother us now.

Come and get us, we'll burn a trail of fire and blood through the city.

Korian Sunders- Loner

I woke up from a brief sleep high on top of a building. I could see the ferris wheel from where I sat. "How beautiful." I say. I seen a girl climbing it, how dumb is that. I was well aware of all the gangs throughout this city. It was crazy, I mean how can you just be so vicious towards others just for standing on your grounds. Free country. Duh. I laugh to myself at how stupid I sounded. Who was I kidding, at least they had someone, unlike pityful me with no one.

I climbed down the ladder to go see the ferris wheel up close. No people were around me, thank god. I couldn't even talk to people because now days they are very territorial to "intruders." "Hey little puppy." I say to a small lab. Woof woof. was it's reply. "If only you could talk." I say to him as I stand back up. "Ronald come here boy." I hear a guy say, I ran behind a bush before the person seen me. I couldn't handle having to risk my life to kill someone.

He looked a little older than I and was cute. But, I wasn't to fond of guys, not that I'm into girls or anything, because I'm not. I never met a guy that I became attracted too. "Welp, time to find and steal food." I say and pat my tummy. I walk out of the bush and go into an alley, people always were in the alley ways so I had to duck and move quickly.

"You!!!" I heard someone yell as I snatched food. Two girls and a guy started running after me. "Get back here!" a girl yelled. One of them threw a knife at me but I ducked. "You can do better than that." I yell then jump into a trash can and onto a roof. They looked around but somehow never spotted me. I smiled and sat there to eat.
