Vic walked along the road with tear pouring down his paled cheeks, his beloved grandfather just past away in front of him.. A man came to his house and told him he'd have to move to a place called HOUSE. Vic didn't understand until they forced him into a black car.

The car ride was painfully silent and slow... It seemed like days. The man stopped the car and ordered him to get out. Vic obeyed and jumped out. The car sped off leaving water splashing in front of him. The rain pelted down on him making his hair stick to his face and neck.

He flicked my black ink back hair out of his eyes as he knocked on the door with shaky hands. He paced outside the door and wiped his hands down his face. His clothes were wrinkled and drenched from the rain.

"Ahh, good day sir."
A tall man smiled a smile that made hims sick, "You may call me Housemaster.. Please, come in." Vic hesitated before entering. He walked in, this house really was big.

"With all do respect... Sir, it has been a horrid day." Vic said glumly.

"Hmm?" He responded. Vic didn't bother answering back. He went to wounder the house. There were a few people in a big-ish room, but he didn't pay any attention to the staring eyes. He looked down and played with his ring that his grandfather had given him earlier that morning. He hadn't noticed that it was glowing util now. He frown and willed it to stop, almost instantly it stopped glowing. Vic's frowned deepens as he studies it closer. Magic? He though, then mentally laughed at his silliness.

The man from the door walked into the room and threw a chilling smile at Vic. Vic sat down in the closest chair and his behind his hair. He always did that when he was scared or shy.

Arijah pushed back his escaping hair but the wind only snapped it forward again, flicking it across the front of his shallow cheeks and irritating his line of vision. Introductions, new arrivals, he despised all of it. One less person he had to involve himself with the better. The hill was his refuge; it was steep and grassy and arched high behind the House building itself. He pressed on up, the other side was sheltered from the breeze and viewed down on to a scattering of bush hidden in a small valley. Among the trees was situated another building that he assumed no-one else except for the Housemaster knew about. It was rough and old, set on a dismal concrete foundation. Surrounding the main structure were many tiny holes, huts and fields; all of this was surrounded by a high wire fence.
It was inhumane, he knew, but there was nothing he could speak out for against it. Why should he care, why should it matter? It was by far not the worst he had ever seen. Arijah shuffled himself down to a section of the fence where the main barbs had fallen away and only the linear frames remained, strung up in tight lines.
It was a farm, but not for animals. Inside lay a farm for lepers and urchins, people who were raised in a slum like this from birth. They lived out their lives but once they became sick or old or even injured, they would be taken away. It was for a blunt reason. ‘They’ did not care if a several people were sacrificed here and there to harbour their precious mistakes. But even Arijah did not know why they cared to keep the mistakes so well, however he did know that there was usually always a form of vampire at the house one way or another, and not to mention, the farm was vital for his own medication that he so much depended on. He looked at his own hands and felt transparent, like he was never really there for anything or anyone. He was a spectator watching the earth go by, flickering past faster and faster as it grew older. He peered back through the wire and skimmed his gaze along the rough dirt path on the inside. Something else has been calling him here, it was not only the desire to escape unworthy company but also the tugging pull he felt on his chest in this direction. He knew why, and he knew what. He looked a little harder and there he found her. She was curled and gnarled, not far from the fence. Her old skin was sallow but at the same time glowed with something brighter than hope. Her eyes watched him and she reached out a dirty hand through the wire gap. He crouched down beside her. It was rare, even impossible that someone so old would have lasted in here without being taken away. Her crumpled face turned toward him and she looked up with the eyes of a sad beast, captured. He remembered her face, he remembered coming down here when she was barely a woman, wide eyed, alert. She has been intrigued by him, at this same fence, and reached to his face and hair, muttering something in her own profound language. And now here she was, decades older, whispering just as she had done so far in the past. He let her take his hand, her grip was faint but her skin was so frail and softer than ever. Her death was imminent.
“It looks like today is both our lucky days” Arijah said, softly for once. He had a weak spot for the passing; especially those who he knew would be at peace.
“Save...me?” she croaked through a smile. Arijah was not entirely sure her true meaning behind the words, did she think that he could cure her? Or did she know she would be saved the factory isles? He just nodded saying slowly as he did.
“You will not die in vain, you will die at your own will” he tried to smile back but found he could not, his face, molded for so long into nothingness could not sacrifice the effort. Her own smile greatened, enough for them both. Her eyes closed and she laid breathing gently for a few moments. He watched her chest rise then lay still, so subtly it could have never been moving at all. He felt a rush inside him, a great feeling of relief and enlightenment, his body felt relaxed and at peace more so than with any medication. Even if her death now had cost him hours later, it was worth it for the both of them.

Arijah took the return journey over the hill and back to the main house. Soon the sound of the sea shore had returned to its usual volume of shush shush. He paused, there was someone standing on the porch hovering around the door, not knocking, just staring at it. There were only supposed to be two new arrivals today, he had timed his walk perfectly to avoid them. Who was this? He did not take in their appearance, he was beyond that by now, all he saw was their stance, bend just slightly over, feet tucked behind one another, this person was not at all confident about knocking on large doors. They turned suddenly, but did not gasp, they met Arijahs eyes and stared long and hard. Feeling slightly irritated, Arijah stared back, his face turning into an angry sneer. Who did they think they were, staring like that? Did they lack any form of mediocre intelligence at all? Were they staring at his hair? His dress code? Whatever it was it was far better than their own pathetic garb. Arijah moved swiftly, making sure to push past the figure very firmly on his way in. They were about to say something as their mouth opened but he moved too quickly for that, lifting the heavy latch on the door and striding inside and away to another shadowy corner of the house, leaving the door open for the meager kid to enter.
Hahah....haha.....ahahaha.

Housemaster

I stood at the windows in my study, awaiting the new arrivals. I had instructed the others to remain in their rooms so I could introduce the arrivals slowly. New mistakes were always so fragile and weak and had to be inducted carefully. But that's why They hired me, that's my area of expertise.

I grinned at my reflection as I studied the landscape of the surrounding valley. The clock struck noon. If the mistakes were punctual, the female would arrive any minute.

Suddenly, the echo of the door knocker reverberated throughout the house. Excellent, she was on time. I swiftly opened the mahogany doors that lead to the hallway. My footsteps echo on the hardwood floors. I let them echo loud and clear. Let her be intimidated. Intimidation is the key.

I open the door, and look down on the puny new mistake. For being 19 years of age she was unusually petite. Her grey eye studied me shyly.

"Greetings. You are a mistake and shouldn't exist according to the world. However, you'll find here that the world is incorrect about you, and the others. Welcome to the House of Unusual Sapiens Etc. I am the master of the HOUSE, however, I will allow you to call me Housemaster. Enter, Ariadne Adbury." Her eyes widened slightly at the mention of her name, but what did she expect? That I wouldn't known her name prior to her arrival?

I tell her to sit in a chair in the parlor. She obediently takes a seat.

Any moment now, if he's punctual. I stand facing the grandfather clock, watching Miss Adbury's reflection in the clock's face. She remained completely still while we waited. I noticed that in her hands she held copy of Peter Pan.

"That's an irrational book, I advise you not to read it." I said without turning around.

She nodded and allowed her hair to completely cover her face.

The echo of the knocker sounded once more.

"That would be Mr. Frost. Remain here until further notice." I left to greet the new arrival.

Kelly Myers

The darkness was perfect for me, I hung from the cieling beams as I rested peacefully in the darkness, of the house that the House Master invited me to, who would have guessed that someone would want a vampire in his home! I never would have. Below me, or above me, however you want to put it, was Karr's bed, I prefer sleeping as I hang from the ceiling. Karr slumbered peacefully as I hung there, I was wide awake, I was starting to become blood thirty, I would have to feed from Karr soon. His blood was so rare, that I was lucky to even find him from his wrenched mother, but the more I thought about blood, the more I thought about feeding, my hunger for blood intensifying. I detach myself by will from the beam and fall, I could see Karr's warm blood laying down, sleeping as I fell onto him. He awoke with a startle as I landed on top of him, his breathing quickening as he couldn't see in the dark like I could.

"Time for me, to feeeeed," I hiss into his ear.

He stopped struggling, and took a deep breath as I moved my head down and to his neck, I could see his blood pulse around his body, I bared my fangs as I posistion myself to bite into his neck. And then my fangs found his neck, piercing his flesh and opening to small holes that would feel soon after I was done feeding. The blood poured out of his body and into my mouth as I sucked his blood, the blood flowed nicely into my mouth, when I finished with my fill I moved off him and onto the side of the bed.

"I'm sorry, I woke up hungrey, and I needed something to eat Karr," I said.

"It's alright Kelly, I was waiting for you to come down anyways," Karr said.

I could feel movement on the bed, Karr was sitting up and I was sitting at the edge of the bed, Karr, such a lonely child, his mother used him like a slave. His blood type was so rare, so desirable to drink, the only thing I used him for was blood, nothing else. I needed to drink from him every night, or else I would go feral without blood, and that was not exactly pleasant.

Karr Edwarson

Kelly and Karr arrived at the H.O.U.S.E shortly before they settled into their room. The housemaster didn't seemed supriesed at why they were rooming together, or if he was it never showed. The trip was long and tiring for him at least. He ate a sandwich from ingredients he found in the kitchen. When he settled down for the night he was surprised to find Her resting.

In Karr's mind his new mistress was always Her. Karr was still wary from his experiences with his mother but Her only wanted to drink his blood. He didn't mind, not after the short-lived panic of the first bite. It hurt only a little and his skin healed immediately afterwards. He started feeling stronger and was slightly more agile since she starting feeding, he supposed it was an after effect of the saliva.

So it was no supirse when she detached herself from the ceiling and pounced on him. Karr jumped slightly, he had been half-asleep. After she was done and finished apologizing he dismissed it saying, "It's alright Kelly, I was waiting for you to come down anyways" Karr always called Her, Kelly or Mistress to her face. Maybe one day he could call her that to her face. Not today though. He sat up next to her in the bed. "So what do you make of this place? He let both of us in without a blink of an eye. It seems rather suspicious to me."

I'm gonna have my thoughts in italics to other people, and my Sights in bold

New arrivals. I thought to myself as they entered silently. One after the other. Two, altogether. It was somewhat of a surprise to see Arijah barging through the door. He seemed somewhat annoyed. He started walking briskly down the hallway when I stepped out and tipped my hat to him. His grimace lessened at the sight of the gangly old man that I was.

I was old, true, but young in spirit I am!

He smiled a small, sad smile in my direction and slowed down. I knew he was going to talk to me. I liked it when he talked to me. It's like when a boy talks to his dog, more just to vent than to talk. He walked soundlessly over to me and leaned against the wall, sighing a little.

I could tell he had something on her mind. He was always like this when he had something on his mind, and I was really the only person he could talk to. Not that I minded. He was the only person that actually talked to me and didn't look at me like I was a freak.

Even people in H.O.U.S.E. stared at me a little different than they did anyone else, and there's a girl who hangs on ceilings! But I'm that old man. That one that you see everywhere. The one that's always there. Always there, wanting to talk to someone, but you just past them by, because they have aged.

There's nothing wrong with aging. It's impossible to stop. I may look old, but inside, well, I'm old, also. I'm actually older inside that i am outside. Scary, I know.

I smiled wryly as I found myself thinking about myself to myself once again. I really need to stop doing that.

I grew a larger smile as Arijah started explaining the bare bodkin of what happened to him, not that he gave any details, but I could put together what he meant.

You see, him and I, we've been in this place for a long, long time. When you're stuck somewhere with someone for a large amount of time, then you kind of have to like them, even a little, not that that was what happened between us. We developed a bond because we're alike. I'm me and he's...him.

My mind lurched as my power kicked in. I held onto the cane for dear life, but it was not enough. My mind spiraled into the depth of Sight and I fell into Arijah.

Ava

I was in the middle of hacking through the knots in my hair, when I heard the door open downstairs. I then quickly threw on my long black T-Shirt, bright red leggings, black boots, and bolted down the hall.

When I got there, there were several people in the room. I immediately picked out the new guy in the back. He was siting in an old chair, his face obscured by his bangs. He looked really... uncomfortable. I wondered what he could do. I wondered who he was. What's his name? What's is agenda? Why is he here? Why were we here?

The room was pretty crowded, and filled with nervous chatter. I glanced at "The Housemaster". He looked like he was about to make some sort of announcement. Strange, I thought. Wonder what he's up to now...

I looked up as I felt eyes burning into my head. I looked up at a girl with long wavy black hair that went almost past her thighs. It probably looks like I'm checking her out, I'm I swear! Her bright red tights almost blinded me but they shaped her legs well. I tried not to look directly at her face, but her hazel eyes were so intoxicating. I couldn't pull my gaze away. She was completely flawless and beautiful.

The Housemaster cleared his throat like he was about to say something. But he didn't he just cast wicked smiles along to everyone. Gee, this man is really creepy! I looked down at my ring, it was glowing but only a dull glow. Why does this keep happening, and why am I here? I pulled my knees to my chest and hugged myself. I don't care if the others think I am a baby. I don't care what they think at all, I'm scared. I don't know anyone, I don't know this strange man with a mean smirk. I just want my grandfather back. I need him, he always knew what to do.

I tilted my head so my hair covered more of my face when The Housemaster looked at me. Am I going to die in here? Oh, Lord please do not let me die! Please! A gush of icy wind gashed in from the window making me shiver and hold my legs tighter. I just want to get out of here... Alive.

Lakin

Lakin watched Arijah walk over the hill, hair wiping around wildly, he seemed slightly irritated when he couldn’t control it or maybe it was the new arrivals. She never knew with him though she did note that he was leaving before any of them had arrived, so it could very well just be the arrivals.
When the Housemaster had told them to stay in their rooms, she’d only half listened. Technically they hadn’t arrived yet so technically she didn’t have to be in her room; she wasn’t going to be out that long anyway, she just wanted to make sure that the small garden had survived the brunt of the storm.
Quickly slipping through the wooden gate, Lakin cast a expert eye over the small patch of ground. She knelt down and gently placed her hand over the soil. She could feel the energy of the seeds beneath but in one place where she knew she had planted beautiful magnolias, there was only emptiness.
She let her energy seep through the ground and into the seedling, in her mind she could see it glowing slightly. Seconds later she released the seed and could feel the life from within.
Good. It would be ok.
The wind played with her hair and she could feel the briskness brushing over her skin, it wouldn’t last much longer, that she was sure of. Nature spoke to her in a way that nothing else could, not even words. Lakin knew she was a Faerie since she was a small girl when her grandmother had told her of her finding. The story told to her was that, on the spring solstice, her mother had been out wandering in the woods behind their house, where she grew tired and sat beneath a mighty oak to nap. When she awoke she wasn’t alone. I had been left in her arms as green as the leaves that surrounded her.
So here she was, one hundred and ninety years later, cooped up in a house with people she hardly knew.
Sighing, she made her way back to the House. Apparently she was later than she expected to be, the front room held the new arrivals. A girl and a boy. The arrivals watched her as she entered and she noticed that the boy had just moment s before been watching Ava.
Interesting.
“Hello there, I’m Lakin Flyn and my mistake was being born in the wrong era!” A couple of the regulars chuckled; the new arrivals just watched. “I’m a Faerie, that is.”
“And where have you been Miss. Flyn? I specifically remember asking all residents to stay in their room today.”
The Housemaster stood in the entrance, pale and elongated. His claw like hands clasped behind his back.
“I was checking on my garden; making sure that the storm hadn’t destroyed it when it passed over.”
“You'll do well to remember when I ask you to do something, Miss. Flynn.”
“Of course, Mr. Housemaster. Your wish is my command.”
Her footsteps echoed through the foyer as she walked to her room. Laughing she closed the door and opened the window facing the sea. It had soothed a bit with the passing of the storm, but still its spirit remained; crashing against the bluff and sending cascades of sea water into the air.
She heard the door open and knew that Ava had followed her in. The small trust between then wavered now and then but it seemed that it was pretty steady at the moment.
“You’re going to get in trouble one of these days.”
“Yeah, well. It’s either that or go stir crazy in this house.”
Ava sat on the chair and leaned back, balancing precariously and staring at the ceiling.
“Don’t you wish that we could just leave? Go where ever we want? Before I was forced to come here I had plans to travel the world.” Ava was ruthless when talking to people she didn’t trust but if you took the time and got to know the person on the inside, she wasn’t half bad.
Lakin was quiet. She snuck up to the edge of the chair and gave it a small tap, sending Ava tumbling to the ground. Laughing she burst into the air and hovered there waiting for what was sure to come.
A book whizzed mere inches from her head, she grabbed it and looked at the title, “Through the Looking Glass.”
“Why you dirty little cheat! Come down there and fight a real fight!” Ava’s eyes blazed in good humor. So, Lakin dropped the book--right in her head.
Pleased, she flopped to the bed and chuckled when Ava rubbed her head.
“Darn those books! Just popping out of nowhere. I’ll have to apologize for their rudeness.”
Jhinx called me old. Rude.

I'm changing to first person since most people are. Sorry for the long post. Enjoy.

Arijah and Scarlett

I never spoke much. Nor did he. We maintained a sort of communication through silence between us; most days not a word was passed, yet we understood. He never spoke at all and I tended to silence, I believed in the conservation of words. They were precious, something to be used only when necessary; something that is really meant. I didn’t believe in words used to accompany emotions, yet there are always exceptions. While I lingered in his company we spoke through silence but there
was just something I had to say. The only thing I told him.
"My medication has been exhausted."

His face turned to a furrowed concern, turning toward me in such a way of urgency it made me realise the degree of seriousness of the matter on my hands. That morning I had taken my last two tablets. I had then proceeded to address the housemaster about the new delivery, however when I had opened the factory box there had only been vials for the vampire, the familiar white bottles of mine were not present. I had turned to sly man seated behind me, but he had only smiled. A cruel sly smile that I had seen directed at many of the other residents before, but never me.
Never me.

The old man Scarlett stumbled, for whatever reasons remained unknown, I reached out to support him but he slipped on his cane, collapsing into my arms. I felt his thoughts collide with mine. I tried to resist but it was futile. He fell through me like a ghost.
I had a sudden reminiscence of the elderly woman at the farm and her peaceful passing from age. Scarlett would have seen it too; would he speak out against it? Have the factory disbanded? Resent me for keeping this from him? I never told anything but the literal truth, but it was my choice how much I revealed. The woman from earlier reminded me of a moment thousands of years ago at the death of my long gone fiancées grandmother. She had left this word peacefully as well; it was at her passing I had discovered how to cure the pain that had plagued me since...
I shook myself off. Scarlett was initiating these memories. I did not want him to see the origins of my life. He noted my resistance and we were both released into reality, collapsing in a subtle thud. I opened one eye and spotted the elder climbing up onto his knobbly cane, uninjured.

I felt a tang of dizziness when I remembered my current dilemma. Without my medication I was helpless, at mercy to the impulse to do anything for the relief of pain. The memories had reminded me of so much. They had reminded me why I was here. On my way to get up I rested on my knees, dipping my head in respect toward the floor, hands clasped over the remains of my heart, begging softly under my breath that the pain would not come.

“Praying for a religion? Pffft” Kelly’s voice rang out, startling the old man beside me. I glanced out the nearest window and noticed the orange sky, of course she had awoken, but I had to admit I was surprised to see her out here. I noted her contempt toward my posture; vampires had never been fond of anything holy.
“I pray to no deity” I corrected her. “Only hope.”
She looked very sceptical at my words; she had been around about long enough to doubt many kinds of faith and I did not disagree with her.
I stood up. “As you know...” I started, meeting her blank eyes, “Some of us are here for reasons more than just because we are forced to stay”. She might have nodded in agreement but it was so subtle I could not tell. Her expression twitched into a chilling smile, inhaling deeply, I looked down to my arm at where her face was angled. A shallow gash ruptured on my arm in one of the few places that still bled, I must have cut it on my fall. I used my palm to wipe the blood away and the wound diminished. So that’s why she was here.
“The housemaster has a new arrival of blood veils in his office.” I informed her bluntly, remembering the box from earlier and eager to escape any form of company. It took only a moment of hesitation and then she was gone. Why was everyone in this house so despicable, so tedious, so irritating? I wondered as I noticed the old man Scarlett still standing there, leaning on his cane with a smile of entertainment.
Almost everyone.
I wasn’t sure what to do or say so I simply sneered at him and marched off, looking for more reasons to hate all branches of human kind.
~~~~~~~~~~
There was only one requirement for a formal assembly of all presences at the house, and that was dinner of the night of new arrivals. I had turned my room inside out searching for even one drop, one caplet of medication, with no avail.
Two hours.
I had two hours remaining on my previous dosage.
I straightened my face into its usual impassive settlement and let myself relax. It wasn’t like this hadn’t happened before. I had endured it as long as I hadn’t. But now it was different. Ever since the medication was made so readily available to me I had relied on it so much, become accustomed to relief, it had only encouraged an addiction even further. It was the only thing in the whole world I feared. The pain.
As I carried myself down to the great dining hall I assured myself that’s how it was meant to be. I was made to feel the pain, forced to carry out the spiritual duty that had been bestowed upon my kind at the beginning of time. As I entered the room I noticed I was early as always. I had nothing to lose. I had all the time in the world and this moment was of no more significance to the last. As usual on such occasions I took my seat at the furthest left-hand end of the narrow strip table. The Housemaster was seated at the far right end on a chair so grand it cradled him like a throne, another subtle way he chose to idolise himself to the residents. The table was far too long to seat everyone so that shouting was not required, so the rest of the chairs were bunched up near his end. Not that anyone wanted to be near him, I had just made a great effort to establish that his presence was the preferred option over my own.
The others dabbled in, one after another, Ava first, swiping the most popular seat nearest to the centre of the table, as far away from the tall and oily man as possible, the Faerie followed her, looking particularly green and happy, probably smug at another joke played; she was so immature for her age it appalled me, she had the capability of great wisdom yet she acted like a child. Next came Kelly and her subjugate, the pale quivering boy. This was unusual. Normally Kelly made it a common habit to be the last to arrive and the first to leave at such compulsorily occasions like this; I assumed the change was due to the fact she had already come downstairs earlier. Scarlett hobbled in next and simply took the nearest chair, indifferent to any seating preference. The other five usual seats were taken as the rest of the common household assembled, finally followed by the newcomers, coaxed in such a sickly sweet way by the housemaster it seemed inappropriate. There were three, a shady looking boy with drooping shoulders, a girl hidden under a thick fleece of curls, and tailed in the back by the person I had spotted outside earlier.
They seemed hesitant where to sit and shuffled awkwardly around making eye contact then breaking it with the other inhabitants. The boy took a seat near Ava and the child, while the third took the empty chair besides the Housemaster’s throne. The girl of blond scanned the table, lingering on my end which was vastly unoccupied. She then pulled a chair up to the end near myself, smiling. I eyed her firmly, I was not happy about this. Not only was my solitude a good way to stay away from the unsavoury household but it was also my way of silently reminding the Housemaster that he had no true authority over me beyond my medical supplies. Did having another here revoke its significance? I was about to sneer at her, not wanting to let her feel comfortable but I held myself back and settled with a harsh gaze. I did not yet know of her abilities, I would wait until after they were discovered before I would treat the newcomers as part of the common rabble.
The Housemaster stood and cleared his throat ridiculously loudly and began his welcoming speech.
I shuffled into the room behind the others. They paid no mind to me. Nobody does anyways, always just a glance, a peek at the girl beneath the curls. The Housemaster lounged at the head of the table, the others took it upon themselves to settle in seats as far away as possible from the man. I felt eyes on my back. I turned and found a young man studying me. He scowled at me.
I brushed back my hair so he could see me smile back at his scowling face. Empty seats surrounded him, and I knew that he probably did not want me to invade his personal bubble. I looked back at the other end of the large table and saw the middle was full and the others were leaving the seats closest to the Housemaster open. I decided to take a seat near the young man, forcing a smile against his glowering glare.
The clock struck six and the Housemaster stood and a silence fell over the mistakes.
"Today, we welcome two new members to our lovely household. Will those members please rise." I obey the Housemaster along with the other newbie, Vic Frost. We both wave tentatively and take our seats.
"Welcome once again. Assure yourself that you will find yourself quite at home here at the H.O.U.S.E. I know that our humble abode might not appear to be much, but you will learn how to control your...abilities. If you don't succeed in that there are other means myself and my superiors will use."
I shivered, What "other means?"
"New arrivals elaborate why you are here to the household so we understand boundaries for the future." The Housemaster commanded, "Mr. Frost please proceed."
Vic stood and shyly looks about the table, "Um...Hey, I'm Vic Frost."
"Hello Vic." The other members chorused in monotone voices.
"Um...Hello. So, I guess I'm here because, because..." Vic's voice trailed off and his eyes became distant. He figited with a ring around his finger, "Because my parents had me and didn't want me. The only person who wanted me is gone." He sat down abruptly.
"Very well, thank you Mr. Frost. Let's give a hand, shall we?" The Housemaster said lazily and clapped loudly, the others followed his lead. "Miss Adbury, elaborate."
I stand with my knees shaking. Public speaking is not my forte. My hands instantly find the nearest lock or curl and begin braiding. "Hello, my name is Ariadne Adbury. Call me Ariadne or Ari...please." I whispered.
"Speak up, speak up!" A girl shouted.
"Um...so, I dream and I can't stop. You know when you can't differentiate between reality and a dream? That's what it's like for me. Sometimes the dreams become real." I remained standing awkwardly until somebody pulled me down. I looked back and discovered it was the scowling guy.
"Another round of applause seems to be in order, doesn't it everybody?" Everybody sitting around the table clapped obediently. "Before we begin our meal, I would like to inform the household that we are currently be visited by 'Them'. They may take interest in any one of you and you may be called to have a chit-chat. I am told that it shall not cause any interruptions in our regular routine. If you see Mr. Jones about, a young fellow who arrived earlier today, do not bother him. They will not appreciate any intervening into their business. You may consume your meals now."
"Anyone who lets a Vampire in willingly is asking for trouble," I said.
Karr nodded, if my senses were right it was close to dinner time, I was blind and had no idea where everything was, when I felt my knee bump against, something. I just stopped, took a deep breath I hated being blind. My only form of vision is my Blood Sense, I needed Karr to lead me out of the room, I felt and looked around until I finally saw Karr in my Blood Sense.
"Karr, could you please lead me out?" I asked.
"Yes, mistress," Karr said.
I saw Karr get up and walk towards the door and I followed him, when he opened the door my body instantly reacted to the unpleasant light that shined though, I quickly moved out of the light and back into the darkness that hadn't been disturbed. Thankfully the House Master thought of everything, as Karr waited for me, I stuck myself to the walls and went out of the room quickly making my way up to the ceiling beams. These would do to help me get around the house, it wasn't long before I ran into Arijah and Scarlett,
I never liked the two, the old man was about to pass away and the other was a pain filled mortal I could see his body reacting to the pain he suffered. Maybe if we struck a deal I may just be able to help him with his pain, but until then, he suffers. The only thing I was interested in, was the fact there was a new shipment in, now Karr may not have to worry about me having to feed from him for a few nights. We continue to the dining room, for my usual spot, I often use the ceiling beams to hide in the darkness where light didn't reach. Karr knew I would be watching from my hiding place, and then came the announcement of the new Vic Frost. Wonderful, I could barely see his blood, which told me something about him, I just didn't like, he had powers over the powerful ice magic.
Then came Ariadne Adbury, another new guy, he was perfectly warm blooded, but he looked scared to death like at any moment, I would drop from the ceiling and start sucking blood, sorry, I had my fill for today. When the House Master stood again, I couldn't tell what his look was.
"Ms. Myer, please show us that you are here, please," he said.
At least he was being nice about asking me, Karr looked to the ceiling, maybe expecting me to drop from it, but I didn't. With one long pointy finger nail, I pointed at the candles that stood on the table each one began to burst to life one by one. When they were all lit, I decided it was enough to prove I was present.
"Very good, thank you Ms. Myers," he said.
Vic Frost
"Today, we welcome two new members to our lovely household. Will those members please rise." I stood with the other new girl as the Headmaster ordered us.
"New arrivals elaborate why you are here to the household so we understand boundaries for the future." The Housemaster commanded, "Mr. Frost please proceed."
I stood and looked around the table, "Um...Hey, I'm Vic Frost." I hate talking to strangers.
"Hello Vic." The other members spoke together in monotone voices.
I told them why I was here, they all listened intently as I looked around the table.
"Very well, thank you Mr. Frost. Let's give a hand, shall we?" The Housemaster said like he hardly cared, he probably didn’t anyways and clapped loudly, the others did so after him. "Miss Adbury, elaborate."
She stood nervously, I tried to smile at her to make her feel better but she wasn’t looking at me. She started playing with her hair; Maybe she didn’t like public speaking like me?
"Hello, my name is Ariadne Adbury.” She has a really pretty name, I thought to myself nodding.
I drifted off looking at the strange people around the table all looking at Ari. This place is getting really weird… She continued standing but the guy next to her yanked her down. She looked surprised.
I lent closer to her and whispered to her, “You’re shaking really bad… Ari.” She looked down at her hands.
“Oh, yeah.. I am.” She looked uncomfortable.
“It’s okay…. I won’t let anything hurt you.” Gahh, she probably thinks I’m a weirdo. Smiled and nodded. The headmaster spoke again,
"Another round of applause seems to be in order, doesn't it everybody?" Everybody sitting around the table clapped as he asked. I had stopped listening until he had said, You may consume your meals now."
What was he talking about?I forked around with my food not wanting to eat it. I bit my lip as the Headmaster eyed me, “Is this not good enough?”
"I-I." to be honest it looked great. I wasn't the kind of person who ate much. "I don't eat very much." I whispered. Everyone looked at me as I spoke out.
"Well off with you. And you too. If he doesn't eat neither do you." He addressed Ari. I scraped my chair back, the girl beside me did the same and glared at me.
"Sorry," I whispered. She didn't look at me.
"Will someone show them to their room?" The Headmaster boomed rubbing his temples.
Ariadne
I fell into an uneasy sleep that night. I flashed in and out of dreams that twisted into nightmares. I felt myself sprialing deeper into the void of my mind, the suposition consuming me. With a start I threw myself awake. I gasped for air, breathing the stale, stuffy air of the small room I had taken residence in. I wiped the sweat from my brow.
The moonlight tumbled through the single window in my room. I rolled over on my side and tried to ignore the nagging grumble of hunger in my stomach. I didn't blame Vic, I've been hungry before and there will be breakfast in the morning. I closed my eyes. Concentrate...inhale...exhale. I wanted to sleep. I needed to rest. Rest. Something I could never truly experience.
Footsteps and voices interrupted my meditation. Hushed voices and soft footsteps. I slipped out of my cot and pressed myself to the door, stilling my breath into silent intakes and exhales.
"Mr. Jones has the H.O.U.S.E proved worthy of the cirteria? Does it please Them?" The solmen voice of Housemaster rumbled.
"Housemaster, as my inspection is not yet complete, I cannot reveale the verdict at this moment." I assumed this was the voice of Mr. Jones, the inspector from "Them."
"Understandable, but I am only curious if my work fills the requirements I was assigned."
"Understandable of course."
Silence filled the wood of the hallway. I presed my ear closer to the door. The squeak of floorboards reassured me that Mr. Jones and the Housemaster had not moved on.
"Will They require the misakes soon for the solution? This information would be most substantial for their training. I would know if I need to increase the intensity anytime soon. Please allow time for us to plan, Mr. Jones." Housemaster whispered.
"Housemaster. It is not my place to inform of you of Their plan for the solution. If you would like to be given the schedule take your case up with Them. I will have you know that the training of the mistakes needs to be intesified in the future." Mr. Jones said sharply.
"I will take heed to that. Thank you for the information Mr. Jones, I couldn't..."
"No need for manipulation and flattery, Housemaster. I must further inspect the H.O.U.S.E and the mistake residents. The solution is near."
Their footsteps faded away down the hallway. I stumbled backwards until I fell back into my bed. Was I in another dream? Or a nightmare? No, this was reality, maybe something more.
